"Look, I've taken... precautions. He can't find. He won't find you. He can't forgive you. He won't forgive you."

Ash gave her a strange look.

What did you do?

What was necessary.

“No, he- he will-“

“No he won’t. He can’t. And I swear on my life that should he somehow find a way, I will protect you at all costs.”

“He’s dead.”

Ash ran a hand over her face. “Insa…”

She froze, and her wide eyes slowly turned to her.

Insa sat under her gaze for a moment. “He can’t hurt you again.” It came out as a whisper.

“He.. he…” Tears started to form in her eyes.

Ash reached out and softly started to rub Ave’s back.

Insa stood. “Whatever you’re feeling right now is valid.” And she moved to leave the room.

She closed her eyes and fell to the ground sobbing, quickly curling into the fetal position.

Ash caught her before she could hit the ground too hard. She just held her and let her cry.

She didn’t answer. She was to the point of sobbing where she began to drool.

Ash stayed right by her. She knew grief was a fickle thing. There’s almost never a right answer on how to help. There’s not often a clear path to healing or a something that can be fixed by a doctor.

Ash summoned a bar of light and let it pass through Aventine. It wouldn't fix anything. It couldn’t fix anything. But it could provide a comforting warmth, a small addition of stability of mind, and a protection from any outside being or person who might try to take advantage of Aventine’s grief.
