PanicPug Posted January 21, 2025 Posted January 21, 2025 I seem to remember some point in TSM where Nomad remembers something from his past and I thought it alluded to his friends/companions/Bridge 4 being corrupted, but I can't find the part. Having read WAT I am confused what exactly this references. Is it Moash? Or someone else? Or did I mix something up? I searched the book for glowing eyes, red glow, friends, home, corrupted and variations of these, but can't find it. Maybe I mixed up a mention of the glowing red eyes from his past and hints towards Kaladin's fate, but I thought it was implied at some point that his friends had been corrupted and was therefore surprised that didn't happen in WAT.

I don't know what you might be referencing. I searched the Sunlit Man forum and Cosmere Discussion (after the spoiler period, the Spoiler Zone "Cosmere section" merges with the latter and the non-Cosmere section merges with it's normal series - WaT threads will move to Stormlight Archive, Solo books like TSM become their own section) and did not find any threads from TSM's spoiler periods where anybody noticed an implication for Bridge Four or Radiants being corrupted. The closest I can find is on the Malwish ship when Nomad hears implications of the Scadrial vs Roshar war-at-large (which, because the source is Malwish paints Roshar as the bad guys). Is that possibly what you recalled? 1
logicless.bt Posted January 21, 2025 Posted January 21, 2025 I seem to remember Sigzil saying "we walked away from our oaths," even though him breaking his oaths was an isolated incident 1

Well, yes. Why… “Consequences,” he whispered. “I walked away from my oaths. I made the decision. And now…now there are consequences.” Why, though? You’ve never told me why you walked away after leaving Roshar. After all we’d been through together. You abandoned all you’d followed. Why would you do that? Was it time? Time for the deepest, hardest truth—the answer that felt like teeth on pavement to acknowledge? “I don’t know,” he said. Liar. Hope that helps. Edited January 21, 2025 by Treamayne SPAG 1
AlmightyGir Posted January 21, 2025 Posted January 21, 2025 It's kind-of wild that Sig would say that about walking away from his oaths. WAT makes it explicitly clear why. I also find it dumb that Vienta won't talk to him anymore too... Taking on pain to save another is 100% a windrunner thing to do, the pain they both felt, and the sacrifice he made in order to save her life was bonkers. Textbook honourable behaviour, though I suppose we know that the power of Honor would hate it. 4

WAT makes it explicitly clear why. Well, as Brandon said about SP4, WoB (edited heavily to relevant section): Spoiler Brandon Sanderson For those who are wondering, this does take place moderately far into the Cosmere’s future. This is not a spoiler for Stormlight 5, in that I intend it to be read before Stormlight 5. But you will find out in Stormlight 5 what caused this whole thing to happen. If it’s a spoiler, it’s not for much in the future of Stormlight. The division point will happen pretty soon here. And this is Sigzil’s story, here called Nomad. He will come out of this book with a different name. And he has a role to play in the future of the Cosmere. Secret Project #4 Reveal and Livestream (March 24, 2022) He had to write that one part of TSM in such a way as to not spoiler the "why" for SA5. It's probably a bit disingenuous that Nomad lied in this scene (though Aux called him out on it), but it's not unreasonable to think that after who-knows-how-long his recollections of the event have become muddled with self-doubt and self-criticism ("Could I have done something different to save her?", "Was that really an altruistic event, or were there other subconcious reasons?", etc.). The section on "hardest truth" implies that, after the fact, he realized something within himself that cast doubt on his actions in the scene we saw in WaT. That said: I know Brandon said he meant for SP4 to be read before SA5, but I now (personally) recommend to friends that TSM be read after SA5 - becuase I felt that knowing Sig broke his bond in WaT really soured all of his scenes for me in WaT. I would rather not have known that before reading SA5. Edited January 21, 2025 by Treamayne SPAG 3

This is head canon, but since we know Sig almost immediately went off world, he can only be talking about himself and the high spren. That would be we. They both ran away instead of staying to help. I know Sig was hurting, and I guess holding the Dawn Shard made him leave though 1

So that likely had something to do with it. We know that things eventually soured between Sig and his master, but it seems like that takes place after WaT.

Sigzil is most likely stuck in Urithiru. Frankly I am pretty sure that a subgroup among the Knights Radiant will accept Retribution as their god.
