Koloss17 She/They Posted January 16, 2025 Posted January 16, 2025 (edited) Midas, New Hallandren, Mayor's Office. Midas strolled his chambers, troubled. He wore flowing, golden robes, which rippled slightly as he walked. Surrounding him was a sphere of color, brightening the colors of the already colorful room. The room was, quite frankly, a mess. Scrolls and cloth were littered all about the place, with many colors of ink sitting across many of the shelves, along with a myriad of books. So many books. However, the state of his room was not what worried Midas. What worried him was the news he had been hearing about a new organization. A dangerous one. A group of Idrians had gathered across the district, and were scheming something. What, Midas had no clue. And that scared him more than anything. A tap sounded from the window. Looking up, he saw Muninn, his crow. He opened the window sill, and Muninn quickly flew over to Midas' desk. In one of his talons, he dropped a note. Midas, Your concerns seem to have merit. This is bigger than you or I had feared. There have been sightings on non Idrians working with them, with multiple Scadrians and Threnodites spotted in company of the Idrians. Most recently, a Scadrian was seen dealing aluminum in the lower quarter, but unfortunately slipped away. I fear something is coming. Make sure to be alert, and I will continue to be on the lookout for further trouble. I suggest we increase surveillance, and keep tighter records of those entering and leaving the district. I know you are concerned about scaring the general public, but it might be necessary. The risk of violence seems to be growing, and it doesn't look to be something we can deal with quietly. Midas put down the note, troubled. How had the Idrians gotten so powerful? They had always been a problem, even when their numbers were few. Was this really something bigger? Muninn cawed softly, and Midas gently stroked him. Lifeless were often seen as mindless servants, but that seemed disingenuous. They at least had echoes of their past lives, however muted. Turning back to his window, he surveyed the district. A bustle of colorful, tightly packed clay buildings, each with a unique life to it. New Hallandren was one of the densest districts in the city, with endless pathways and corners. He tried to be informed about the going ons of the common people, but it was a nearly impossible task. Midas missed the days in Hallandren, where life as a Returned was much simpler. Still, the responsibility was invigorating, even with the stress. This was his district, and he would protect it. A slice of a glorious nation, and of a peoples like no other. He would do everything he could to keep this divine district safe. However, he would have to act quickly. .................. Phemus, New Hallandren, 403 Obsidian Lane Phemus sculked to his home, palms sweaty. He had successfully acquired his contraband, but had been tailed. He thought he'd lost them, but with Lifeless around, you could never be certain. Closing the blinds, he set a small briefcase on his table. He still hadn't gotten used to the sheer amount of color that surrounded him at all times. Rusts, even the streets were named after a color. For a place named Obsidian street, there sure was a lot of nauseatingly bright hues. Luckily, this district was known for complete freedom of home customization, so Phemus managed to paint his house's interior a tolerable beige. Opening the case, which was a professional black, he beheld his gear. A small aluminum revolver, with a convenient handling and maintenance guide. Alongside it, an obsidian dagger, carefully designed and reinforced to be easily concealed in typical Hallandren clothing. On the inside of the suitcase, recessed into the aluminum briefcase, was the logo of his new boss. Uninvested Future Organization. Feeling the weapons, Phemus felt a sense of safety that he hadn't felt in quite some time. New Hallandren had a strict no firearms policy, with nonapproved aluminum gear being strictly regulated. It was a dumb rule, and obviously was made to keep awakeners at the top of the power structure. At this point, it was blatantly obvious that this district played favorites. Non-Hallandren were quietly discriminated against, and non-Nalthians were openly disadvantaged. This district's attempts at maintaining a frankly backwards status quo infuriated him, and solidified his allegiances. Ever since he stepped down from being the Smokestack Constable General after a "magical accident" at the precinct, Phemus had been seeking employment in other districts. But this rusting city didn't make it easy for non-invested folk. So when he heard wind of a group that promised a home for the non-invested, he eagerly joined up. For now, he was just a field grunt. However, given time and loyalty, he was promised a respectable role. Phemus tucked his new tools away, carefully out of sight. "To an Uninvested Future," he muttered. Things were going to change, one way or another. ........ Perses, New Hallandren, Pygma's Workshop. “Aaaand done! Should be good to go.” Pygma finished her final stitch on the awakened mistcoat. “That took…” Pygma checked her pocket watch, which was doubtlessly also awakened. “35 minutes. Was hoping for 30, but hey,” She closed one of her eyes while looking at Perses. “Can’t rush art.” Perses had always struggled with social interactions, even on Scadrial. There was just so many body signals that people made, and even with rudimentary sight provided by tapping an incredible amount of steelsight, he still couldn’t decipher what people meant. Still, he thanked Pygma for her work. She was rumored to be the best awakener in the district, and thus far, Perses would be inclined to believe them. Though her sewing work was done by hand, the mistcoak was fashioned and awakened by her half a year ago, and after a number of fights, all that was needed on the cloak was a little stitchwork. The cloak was made of leather, with mistcloak tassels having sharpened bone blades at the end. The mistcoat was then ornamented with various carefully placed bones, forming light armor around the chest and arms. He was told that the black leather and the bone armor looked very intimidating, but Perses couldn’t know. To him, things are only threatening when they are proven to be a threat. Suddenly, a loud blaring noise sounded outside. Perses automatically turned down his hearingmind, so that the noise was a tolerable rumble. Perses didn’t know that New Hallandren had announcement systems, but then again, he didn’t know all that much about this district. “By the decree of Midas Glorybringer, this district is now under lockdown,” a pompous voice sounded across the district, “If you wish to leave, you may make a case for your departure at the New Hallandren Trades Building. Those without a direct permit will be barred from exiting, and those without explicit permission from me will be barred entry to New Hallandren. I apologize for the inconvenience, but thank you for your compliance.” Pygma breathed a sigh of annoyance. “It's not like I was planning on going anywhere, but what of my clients! I’ll have to speak with Midas about this. He probably has a good reason, but still. He could have at least told me!” She began to walk off, then froze, turning to Perses. “Oh dear. Will you be alright?” Perses grinned, something he had been told didn’t give the effect he wanted with spikes through his eyes. “Don’t worry about me. I'll be fine.” He wasn’t planning on crossing the district border anyways. As both he and Pygma went their separate ways, Perses’ face melted into a frown. What was that about? He was usually well informed about the going-ons of the city, but had heard nothing about anything bad enough to warrant a district lockdown. Plus, they rarely ever worked. While it was in each mayor’s power to order a lockdown, it often ended in violence. Usually, those in social power had the most physical power, which meant they could enforce their will on those under them. However, in Alleycity, a place of Radiants, Mistborn, Epics, and Elantrians, that was rarely the case. Unfortunately, Perses had other business to attend to. He would, however, be paying close attention as events unfolded in New Hallandren. Turning into an alleyway, he called upon Belias. As soon as he did, Perses vanished into the Alleys. @Lunamor, @Stormlightsong, @SpiritOfWrath, @Steel Speedster, @Ookla the Irreplaceable, @KnightSkye, @Wits instant noodles Quote I don't think I missed any pings, but I apologized if I did. As for other QoL things, I will be making a collection of approved charadters at the front of the Era 8 character thread, and I do plan on completing my revision of the era 7 plot summary+make some edits to the worldbuilding section of the guide. None of those things should be vital for this episode, but I do plan on getting them done by the end of the week, hopefully. Edited January 17, 2025 by Koloss17 3
Steel Speedster ♂ Posted January 17, 2025 Posted January 17, 2025 Jerrin, Mistwarrens, Undisclosed Meeting Location Jerrin Tridner stepped into a small room, furnished with nothing but a desk and a set of chairs. A man with grizzled brown hair and a scarred face sat behind the desk, fiddling with a small handgun. "Jerrin!" he said, smiling cordially and leaning back in his chair. "It's been some time." Jerrin nodded curtly. "Trant." He sat down on the opposite side of the desk. "You have the information I requested?" A cloud of ghostly images floated around the room, splitting and fading constantly as possibilities came and went. Jerrin kept his electrum as constantly as he could afford to. He didn't think Trant would try anything--they had known each other for some time and shared a mutual respect--but he never took unnecessary risks. "I'm afraid there's not much to be had," said Trant. "We have few close-up eye-witness accounts of the man. All that we can confirm is that he is indeed spiked--iron and steel, we suspect--and likely carries a large number of Breaths." Rusts. That wasn't enough to go on. The Inquisitor Jerrin was hunting hadn't carried Breaths as far as he could tell, but that didn't preclude him having picked them up more recently. "What else can you tell me?" Jerrin pressed. "That's really all we know I'm afraid," said Trant, shrugging. "Look, Trant," Jerrin snapped, suddenly leaning forward across the desk. "I need this information." For a brief moment, Jerrin's electrum shadows multiplied, bursting in all directions, before fading back to normal. Jerrin was probably one of the few people who knew of Trant's abilities for certain. Feruchemical chromium interfered with electrum, revealing that the informant had tapped Fortune. Jerrin leaned back, feeling slightly satisfied that Trant was wary of him. Trant raised his eyebrows. "There is nothing more of use that I can tell you," he repeated, testily. "I can't give you information that I don't know." "I hope you don't expect me to pay for this then," Jerrin said. "I'd already heard these rumors." Trant chuckled. "Oh, I wouldn't charge you for this. Consider it a favor to an old associate. You'd do the same for me, I'm sure." Jerrin narrowed his eyes. "I'm not going to owe you any 'favors', Trant." "I never said that," Trant said evasively. "By the way, did you hear about the lockdown in New Hallandren?" "New Hallandren is none of my concern," Jerrin grunted. "I know," Trant said, turning to stare out the window. "Still--troubled times." With that he fell silent, and Jerrin left the room without a word. * * * Jerrin stepped out into the street keeping his electrum burning. He hadn't learned anything he hadn't already known or heard rumored. The spike-eyed new crime lord of the Mistwarrens was his only lead. Either he was the same Inquisitor who had massacred Jerrin's team, or his true quarry had managed to disappear without a trace.
TwinStorm He/Him Posted January 17, 2025 Posted January 17, 2025 Leon, The Mistwarrens, Alleyways Leon landed lightly, touching against the cobbles, and threw the man he had over his shoulder earlier against the ground. The man shuddered feebly, still unconscious. The man had been following him for a while, trying to get the best of him. He had proved the man wrong, quickly. He sighed, pulling out a gun, and shaking the man awake. He stirred, opening his eyes. "Hey." Leon said. "I see you're awake. Why exactly did you stalk a Coinshot?" The man gasped, scrambling backwards, but was pinned down by Leon's boot. "Careful." he said softly. "I wouldn't move too fast. Comply, and you will be survive. Hopefully." The man flinched. "What do you want to know?" he said hurriedly. "Who hired you? No idiot would stalk an Allomancer without some money in it for them. Who. Did. It?" . . . Shortly later, Leon took off, again, Pushing against metal till he reached the rooftops, leaving a corpse in an alleyway below. He was heading to New Hallendran. There a storm was brewing. A storm where he could gain advantage. He would gain the power to kill Radiants, and gain vengeance.

The words echoed in Kai's head as the glow of stormlight surrounded him. He grabbed Skye's arm as the vortex of stormlight started pullling him towards something. "Kai! What's happening?" Skye raised her arm to cover her face, her normal blue glow drowned out by the light sround them. "Storm me if I know, Skye." Something in the light popped, and they were yanked through. They were suddenly in the air, and falling. Kaiden lashed himself backward and up, trying to get his bearings. He was in the night sky over a city, unlike any he had seen before. The buildings weren't made of stone, and had windows on all sides. And while the streets were stone, they looked to be broken, many different pieces of stone making up the road. Before he could look further, Windspren swirled up around him, the same spren that had been following him earlier. "Ooh! You said it! You're gonna love this part!" Skye hovered next to him, full size and grinning. "What? What's so special about some windsp—" Kaiden cut off as the spren slammed into him, forming around him as armor. Glowing blue armor, transparent to him. Shardplate. Kaiden lashed himself down again, landing softly on the street. He looked around, his stormlight illuminating the nearby building. "Where are we, Skye?" "Storms if I know, Kai." She glanced over at him. "Better dismiss that armor: you're not used to it yet." "How?" Skye shrugged, glancing around the street. "I dunno. Try thinking at it." Kaiden asked his armor to go, and after a few tries the spren got it and popped back into windspren trailing around him. "Well, we'd better try and find someone who knows what's going on." He turned and strode down the street.
Stormlightsong Posted January 19, 2025 Posted January 19, 2025 (edited) Richard Peterson, UFO HQ Richard strode into his office with a cup of coffee and a to do list. Weren’t her agents trained with them? Richard sat down, put down his coffee and made sure his hair was right. Looking into a small mirror on his desk, the only way he could describe his hair was that of a person who got a little too acquainted with electrical currents. Perfect! Richard looked through the list of engineers and electrical engineers that everyone else unanimously called “the scientists”, which is better than being called “the nerds”, that were currently in Alleycity. Not many were but some are needed on standby to be rented out to sects. As he scanned the list one name caught his attention, a scientist who had already insisted in being in New Halandren and was probably extreme enough to fit in with the Idrians, Tulen Hental. The problem was that the thing that made him good for the job also made him not ideal for keeping the Idrians in check. So he would need someone who can follow orders to keep him in check. A quick call with Mel and he got another name, Palava Maves. An order from Mel should be sent to her explaining where to find Tulen. Now for the mad scientist himself.
