Fyodor32768 Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 We were told that the SF calling Kaladin "son of Tanavast" as opposed to merely "son of Honor" (like for Dalinor) had some specific meaning for Kaladin. Do we get any insight on this? 1
Heilven he/him Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 There was a line from the wind about the storm claiming that Kaladin was his son, but that was about it I think. I'm also very curious to figure out what that means
RedBlue Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 I had expected the ‘Son of Tanavast’ thing to be cleared up in this book, but it wasn’t explained, just referenced. I assume that means it will be a thing in arc 2. 1
Kardenal_13 he/him Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Besides this Epigraph I don't think we got much more information: Quote "I find stories of the Knight of Wind to be most intriguing. They call him Stormblessed, but best I can tell, the storm alternately tried to kill him and proclaim him its son. I wonder what it knew that we do not." Chapter 132 So I would think it's something that is going to be answered in the back half. I guess another possibility is that someone will figure something out based on the Stormfather's flashbacks chapters, but no one has done so as far as I know.
Subvisual Haze Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 Looking forward to finding out definitively maybe 15 years in the future. 1
Nef Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 (edited) My best guess is that when Honor/Tanavast had his thousands of years of simply observing while being one with nature, he had an indirect influence on spren choosing Kaladin to be their champion. Like the spren/wind realised that this compassionate version of Honor who values the mundane etc were qualities they wanted in their champion. Edited December 11, 2024 by Nef
