I was very surprised to see partial canonization of dragonsteel prime at the end of WaT. Much of the main story points were maintained, and it's interesting to view it as perhaps an embellished story of true events within the cosmere.

The Jerick name drop made me do a triple take

I hope eventual canon Jerick has a better reason for running away from a contest that ostensibly would improve the lives of his entire caste than Prime!Jerick. Worst part of DSP by far (though the whole Shattered Plains 1.0 arc was cringe)

I hope this means we got a recap of Jerick’s story already so maybe he won’t feature in the real Dragonsteel when we get there.

I agree, I think Jerick doesn't need to be the focus of dragonsteel at all. It does seem like dragonsteel is meant to be more focused on hoid after all.

In fact that is the very first time the name "Yolen" officially appeared.

Chronologically, maybe, but Yolen was namedropped in The Sunlit Man before this as far as I remember

I was really surprised by this too. Maybe it’s a way of acknowledging the original Dragonsteel, while giving him the freedom to do something else (focus on Hoid).

It's directly referenced, but not named in Mistborn: Secret History as well and is canonically named in some of the Ars Arcanums.

He has already confirmed that (as of now - things change) Jerick will not be a major part of Dragonsteel (if he shows up at all). WoB (edited for relevence and length):

Brandon Sanderson

Dragonsteel, I consider lightly canon to the Cosmere in that the events of Dragonsteel happen, mostly, but the worldbuilding's been refined so much that eventually I will write the book that will be called Dragonsteel (or maybe the series), but it'll now be Hoid's story, rather than Jerick's story. And it'll be a completely different type of story. Though little bits of it will be recognizable.

I, too, was intrigued by Wit sharing this bare bones version of Jerick's tale (and we now have a chapter to tell people who ask about DSP - read Wit's summary in WaT Ch 128 for a synopsis).

Dragonsteel Prime Spoilers:

Spoiler

I did notice the absence of both Microkinesis and Tzai references, so i wonder of those will be absent from whatever parts of Jerick (if any) make it into the Dragonsteel Trilogy - of if Brandon is still just leaving it open for any possibly needed tweaking once he gets to those stories.

Didn’t micro kinesics get name dropped by honor?

Yes. It was name dropped in reference to the Surge of Division. WaT Ch 104:

IT REMINDED ME OF THE WORST POWERS ON OUR WORLD. THE ABILITY TO SHEAR AXON FROM AXON. MICROKINESIS, IN THE LANGUAGE OF GODS. HERE IT TOOK A DIFFERENT FORM, BUT CAUSED ME—EVEN GOD—TO TREMBLE.

But was not part of Jericks tale as shared by Wit.

There IS historical precedent of accidentally setting off fission reactions in the cosmere using the magic

Now this is a story I look forward to hearing

Brandon Sanderson

One of the first magic systems I designed for the cosmere was based on the manipulation of sub-atomic particles, and involved the ability to look directly at atoms and interact with them. I decided to back off on this, as it was a whopper of a magic system to get right with my limited (at the time) writing experience. It was fun, though, and is still a canonical Cosmere magic.

Could you create a nuclear bomb using the Surge of Division?

Brandon Sanderson

Not Division, but there are cosmere powers that are built around splitting atoms.
