“Well,” Wit said, “you once had to use a highstorm and the Stormfather’s powers—but you’re Bondsmiths now. You can open a perpendicularity and push into the Spiritual Realm. Once there, I suggest using Connection to guide you into a specific slice of the past. I’ll help you with that. You can peek into an event I’ve witnessed, experience it, and return so we can compare notes. If that works, we can send you on a longer journey, into times I wasn’t here to witness.”

What memory will Wit send them to?  He has witnessed 10,000 years of history.  He could be typical Wit and send them to some random BS memory.

Or he could show them the Shattering, from his perspective.  Or anything on Roshar that he saw during his previous visits.  The Fused before they were Fused.  Tanavast buying him a beer.  Literally anything he has seen.

What do we think he will show them?  What part of Hoid's backstory will Brandon peel back the curtain for us on?

I’ve seen others suggest it may be Hoid’s memory of his conversation with TOdium - the altered memory.

I would be surprised if it was the Shattering, but at the same time I don't see how else we could figure out the name of the last shard in this book. Although I suppose an epigraph could do it

I'm not sure Hoid will volunteer to let anyone actually see an event in which someone else gets the better of him.  It was hard enough for him to admit to everyone that it happened.  Although I would certainly love to see Dalinar or Navani notice something about that memory that helps them get closer to learning Taravangian has Ascended; that's obviously a really important detail they are missing at the moment.

I have a feeling it will be something new (to us), and knowing Hoid, something seemingly silly, but secretly deeply meaningful.

Yeah, it seems very likely it will be in the Hoid Letter Epigraph of WaT.

This is my thought as well. That or its going to be a time in the previous 4 books that he's saying something to nobody, or saying something that didn't exactly seem to fit the conversation at the time, and in this go around it comes across as if he was saying it explicitly for Dalinar and Navani. I don't even know what the implications of that would be, but it would be very on Brand for Hoid and fantasy tropes.

I absolutely love this idea - I can see it being done poorly a million ways, but I think Brandon could pull this off in a really cool way and make it work really well

He will mess with Connection and the Spiritual Realm. That suggests that entities equipped to do the same may detect their action, if they are part of the scene. If Dalinar really wants to ascend, then we have two options and one would alert all Shards, so I'd guess that Dalinar will see the Catacendre.

I wonder if Hoid was around when the heralds entered the Oath pact? That would be quite relevant to know.

IMHO it is very likely that he is somehow responsible for Taln becoming the 10th Herald, instead of whoever it was supposed to be originally.

But there was a WoB that while the first half of SA was going to plumb the mysteries of the Radiants, the second would do the same for the Heralds.

I am unsure if it is still the plan, since it currently seems that WaT will go deeper into the events surrounding the start of the Desolations than I expected, so we'll see.

Alternatively, it would be fun to see Hoid palling around with Nohadon, for example...

I also wouldn’t mind seeing the humans make it to Shinovar for the first time. Or when honour and cultivation first agreed to accept their asylum.

@teknopathetic FOR THE WIN

If I end up being wrong in my Chana Davar post and wrong about my StormFaker Support Post, at least I will have this.
