"Um... this way, I think." She started down the western road.

As they travelled, night began to fall. Trees rose up around them, and when the sun dipped below the horizon, the party could see a small creek through the brush.

She had grown thirsty as the hours had passed. She kneels, forms a cup with her hands, and drinks some of the water.

Suddenly, a shrill scream sounded in the forest. It didn’t sound natural. A strong breeze ran through the trees, and each of the party suddenly felt great strength, their weakness healed.

Felicity gets it from the crazed and jumbled emotions of someone who is about to show up.

The Servants of Intellect get it because the breeze was chilling.

Cole gets it because the breeze was a thing. (Don’t worry, I thought it out, it would make sense if you can get strength from someone else’s magic [did I just spoil what the breeze was… oops])

Could be mistaken for adrenaline, so she doesn't notice right away.

Ember, who had been spacing out while just going with the group, looks to the area where the scream came from.

Wait not longer! (This past week I’ve had a lot of stuff to do. Sorry for not being very responsive.)

Cole has been feeling strong for a while; of course, he thinks it’s merely that adjusting the tent so it didn’t drag on the ground made moving in general more comfortable. Still, the screech and surge of strength get his attention, and he pulls out the best weapons available to him: a carpentry saw and a tent pole with fabric still attached.

“It’s a tree! Pine, to be exact; not particularly good for building most things.” Then, realizing everyone else heard the screech and it wasn’t simply burnt man messing with him, he amends his statement. “Actually, I think the startling thing might be an angry hawk-bear, or something similarly strange.”

Gore warning!

The Burnt Man smiled. “Let’s see who is the better, shall we? A fight… to the death, I think. What he can do, you can do.”

A person burst through the trees, covered in dirt, grime, and blood. He was propelled by the air, and had long, jagged claws that clutched a small animal, bitten into. He screeched, the very wind bending at the sound.

@Spark of Hope

Felicity, if attentive to the strength afforded her, would be able to decipher that the strength came from this man’s emotions.

You will be able to twist the man’s emotions, for a price. Be careful, though. The insane give less heed to their emotion than the sane.

@Through The Living Glass

His wind is cooling you, which affords you access to my gift. He will be able to manipulate the cold, draining your life energy. Other cold will return it.

@Wierdo

The cold will serve you. You will be able to twist it to your desires, at a price.

His mother reappeared, next to the insane man. She mimed staying away from him, and disappeared.

How specifically does this work?

So right now you are being mildly strengthened by the powers. Without expending any life force, you will be faster, stronger, and heal. (The healing will expend it, but that isn’t conscious expense). With the power that you have, you are able to cool things down in sight, but won’t be able to cool it much before you start to wear thin. (You can go below, but it’s not fun). The cooling should be enough to maybe freeze some water near him, or, *hint hint* freeze his blood to immobilize him for a time.

“I don’t have sharp fingernails, though. So you’re wrong, although I don’t know why I thought a hallucination should make sense.” Cole holds his tent pole and saw in a terrible attempt at a fighting stance. He screeches back, much less intimidatingly. His clothes billow and flap dramatically in the magical wind.

Wait a minute. If you can power magic with other people’s magic, can’t you feedback loop to infinite power?

You can feedback loop, but it’s not going to do anything. Because when you give them x power, you are -x and theyre +x, so they can only afford to give x to you, or 2x. There is no runaway infinite stuff. If you try to cool stuff other than the person, perhaps the person and an area as big as them, and both of you do this, every time you would go down 2x but up only x, so you would run out. It’s even more difficult with Wind, because they control currents of wind, not just one spot.

The Burnt Man nodded. “This thing can control the wind. So can you, my servant. But do not expect that to help here. Use it only to evade.”

Intellect spoke. Focus on him… and… the temperature. He sighed. Intellect would be better at explaining this.

@Spark of Hope

Your life force. What keeps your soul together with your body. In the presence of extreme emotions, though, your life replenishes itself.

As my Servant, you gain access to better ways of replenishing it. It will quickly return in the presence of strong emotion, not caused by your manipulation.

@Dragonheir

The thing dropped the animal, and grinned, bloodied teeth showing. He leaped towards Cole, traveling unnaturally far.

Cole jumps up and backwards, his coat inflating like a sail. He swings a tent pole, aiming for the head.

If both Cole and this man draw from one source of wind, do we split the power or can we both do it regardless? Power oscillation would still let two people use the power almost continuously, which would be useful if the power is used for something.
