The wave was getting bigger.

Sharlin felt the unease that had settled into her stomach spike.

Without really thinking, she grabbed winter's wrist and started running up the rest of the mountain. They'd been climbing all morning and were most of the way up now.

She slowed down after a few minutes, trying to convince herself that they were high enough.

I'm . . . sure it'll be fine, Sharp offered.

"We'll loose the boat," Sharlin said, turning to look back at the water. Her voice carried an uncharacteristic soberness to it.

You don't know that, we tied it down really good.

Sharlin didn't reply, taking deep breaths and trying to calm herself. She wasn't scared of the ocean, she was just scared of dying.

"We left most of our supplies on the boat." Winter notes quietly. He looks out at the oncoming wave. He thinks they're high enough up to avoid it. "We should try and figure out some kind of shelter. even if the water doesn't reach us, it's not a good idea to stay out in the jungle for too long."

"This entire arena was artificially created. I think the chances are whatever the gamemakers want them to be. They gave us a boat, but now the wave is going to leave us stranded. We can look for caves, but they could be just as dangerous as anywhere else. we need to be careful." Winter responds. He didn't know a whole lot about the people who were running this thing, but he definitely wasn't going to rely on someone who killed children for entertainment for his survival.

"Yeah . . . I'm not sure what other shelter we'd find, unless you can think of anything else," Sharlin said, studying the area for a tall, sturdy tree.

Won't there be more evil plants on trees like that?

"You'd think they'd be mostly low to the ground to get large prey like us, but I'm no biologist."
