Kobold King he/him Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 "Oh no, why did I look into her head, her name is Voidgaze, which must mean she's just like—hey, wait a second. Most of her thoughts are about….waffles. And some guy named Big Al. Heh. This….this is nice. I like you, Voidgaze." "Backtrack? You're really creeping me out when you talk to yourself like that." "I'm not talking to myself. I'm just talking to this lovely young lady who walked past here last week." "Is that supposed to make me feel better?" Seriously though, I don't know if Backtrack will be returning to Portland. If he headed back to find the CM War blazing in earnest, he'd probably just say "lol nope" and head back to The Dalles. 2

I always assumed that if Backtrack stays in the Dalles for to long Lightwards is either going to send someone to fetch him (and what should really scare them that someone might be Nighthound with a "do what you want to them"-card) or move on to there himself. So staying there probably wouldn´t be his smartest move.
Tulir he/him Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Of course Aura and EH leave BusDriver behind . Hm. This could be the time for a BusDriver/Backtrack meetup... Well, Event Horizon got angry at him. Well, that meetup will be hard to make work because BusDriver works for Quicksilver, and Backtrack is in custody of Vondra.

YOU WILL NOT DEFEAT ME, PHOTOBUCKET! That was both absurdly entertaining and fitting. (Playing devil´s advocat, though. Backtrack´s day did suck, Lucentia is missing an arm and has Nighthound as her brother and Lightwards suffers from PTSD, so all of them have something legitamite to moan about, just not as much as the Vanillas.) Talking about First world problems, what would happen, if Lucentia decided to take a bed from the Sadry house with her, because the accommodations in the museum aren´t to her likings?

Yes, but the things they choose to complain about are very first-worldy. If Sam lost her arm, she couldn't replace it; Backtrack didn't lose his entire family to a single Epic; and if some creepy precog came up to Lightwards and said "Yeah, I'm gonna kill you tonight," Lightwards could at least say "I don't THINK so." 3

Lightwards and Lucentia crow about how strong and powerful and capable they are, but they wouldn't last five minutes in Sam or Nathan's shoes. (Though I would like to see Lightwards complain, then protest, then cry if he had to work a shift at Nathan's casino when he was unable to use his powers. He wouldn't learn a thing, but it would be satisfying.) Give her some time and a chance to experiment, and Funtimes could make her a new arm. 1

mail-mi he/him Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 So is the time skip in effect? Because I want to do a Mommy post where she decides to go to the MoNA for the attack.

mail-mi he/him Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 (edited) Pir2h, you just said Cassie pulled herself aside from traffic. Stripped of his powers and sent to Newcago, I think Lightwards would probably pull a Traveler and walk in wearing his coat and bowler hat, expecting people to treat him like an Epic. It would most likely not go over well for him. Dr. Frankinsane? No, that's an awful portmanteau. Forget I ever said that. 2

Hopefully with that crummy soap that dries your hands out and makes them smell bad. The chief difference between him and Traveler being that Nathan didn't want to be treated like an Epic, didn't expect to be mistaken for one, and would have preferred to have been dressed in jeans and a T shirt and mistaken for "that one random guy who follows the crazy clown lady around." Lightwards would probably try to kick Fortuity out of his own table and be genuinely surprised when said precog made the rest of his evening, for lack of a better term, hellish. I'll forget it just as soon as I ponify it. 2

Is that a problem?" * grumbling * "I am going to murder my economic adviser when I get back..." You could fill a book--quite a few books, really--with things that separate Lightwards and Nathan. You can fill most major libraries with the list of things separating Lightwards from Remington. I'm not sure if that's exciting or ominous. 2

I'm not sure if that's exciting or ominous. Sadly, the economics advisor was a resurrection Epic with a similar mental decay caveat to Lightwards, although in his case, he saw numbers as increasingly violent living entities with each resurrection. By the time Lucentia had finished venting her anger, his mind was so far gone he could do little more than alternately shoot at and hide from their budget reports. Item 1: Funtimes would call Lightwards a meanieface, but would never apply that moniker to Nathan or Remington. Item 2: Nathan and Remington have decent taste in hats. Item 3: If most daughters brought Nathan or Remington home, their fathers would approve. If most daughters brought Lightwards home, their fathers would shoot, call 911, and shoot again. And that's just the surfacey stuff. I'm not sure either. Guess we'll see when Dr. Frankensane is ponified, won't we? Edited October 21, 2014 by TwiLyghtSansSparkles 2

Item 678: Nathan and Remington are not fond of spam. Lightwards is a depraved maniac who eats it straight out of the can. I'm waiting. What sort of Epic kept a vulture for a pet, he wondered? It had to belong to some Epic or other. His knowledge of Oregon plants and animals was spotty, but he thought vultures belonged to the desert. Aside from that, the bird seemed too….deliberate. It didn't amble lazily through the sky, or sit on a telephone pole and watch for the dying. It had a path it struggled to follow through the rain. Mind control. The idea hit Nathan as his feet hit the ground after another one of Funtimes' leaps. Whoever owned the bird owned it body, mind, and soul, if a bird could have a soul. He felt sick. "Do you really think—" Another leap cut him off. "Do you really think whoever has a vulture is fun?" She giggled. "Dunno yet." And we're going to find out. She didn't say it, but he heard it anyway. If whoever they found wasn't fun, they would leave. And if they were…. One of these days, Funtimes is going to start listening to Nathan's misgivings. If she'd just listened, she'd be having a carefree party in Tillamook right now while Lightwards futilely tried to take on CM on his own. 2

And here I was, thinking I'd have to opt out of the Astoria thread for lack of a character. He probably eats beef Top Ramen with mustard and thinks that's fine dining too, doesn't he? As soon as I get back to my laptop. There may or may not be a day in the future when she is more inclined to listen to him. But yes, if she had heeded Nathan's power of common sense, she would have no need to keep Lightwards in line with gasoline shirts and tar shoes. Edited October 22, 2014 by TwiLyghtSansSparkles 2
Mailliw73 he/him Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 I found something Backtrack can be grateful for! He can be glad his name is Steven and not what Glamour's is. You'll find that out when I post the next Edgerunner post. It's too bad for Glamour that he chose to work for someone who has his Epics called by their real names. Also, Kobold and I decided that Edgerunner and Glamour are going to be heading to the command post that Quicksilver attacked instead of he outpost. 3
