Jenny wasn't used to someone being ready to fight for her. She simultaneously felt happy that was the case and bad that the situation had escalated this much. She didn't let go of Ed's hand.

She hated the idea of falling asleep again, but she couldn't even if she wanted to. She was now experiencing a feeling of ambient dread without the need for Terrance's help.

“Well I am. I’ll stand up for you no matter what,” he said, squeezing her hand.

Jenny smiled softly. Ed really was amazing. She would've started leaning on him, but was paranoid it would cause her to drift off.

She had no idea what to think about that statement. There wasn't much benefit for Roy to speak about Ed in a somewhat positive light like this. Did Roy actually care? No, he couldn't. He couldn't. But he was acting like he did. Jenny didn't know how to react to this, so she just looked down, not making eye contact.
