“…sorry.” He looked down too. He’d just been trying to help, but he’d made things worse. Again.

“You don’t need to apologize. This is my fault, not yours.”

Jenny tilted Ed’s face back up. At leave her gloves let her still interact with him somewhat safely.

”Ok?”

“But what if it’s neither of our faults? What if there isn’t a problem?”

Jenny removed a glove, reached down, and pulled up a fistful of grass. As soon as the blades were severed, they withered rapidly. She held her hand out for Ed to inspect the grass.

”Did I kill these too?”

Something in her knew that she had.

Jenny let the blades tumble out of her hand and onto the ground. She replaced her glove and squeezed her eyes shut for a moment. Maybe everyone had been right. She only brought death. At the very least, she was probably making Ed feel awful.

”I’m so sorry.”

Being careful not to touch her bare skin, not because he was afraid but because she wouldn’t want him to, he hugged her tightly. “You have nothing to apologize for.”

Jenny cautiously hugged him back, a bit surprised. Ed probably should’ve been more careful around her. She really appreciated it, though.

”I love you.”

Jenny nodded wordlessly. She didn’t deserve Ed. She was glad that he didn’t seem to care.

Everyone walks around towards the city and away from the arch. Eventually they stumble across a small 90s themed diner. Inside there is 3 boofs along a wall. Jace walks over to one of them and sits down.

Edgar sits next to Jenny in one of the booths, almost collapsing from pain and exhaustion. He puts an arm around her cloth-covered shoulders anyway.

Terrance hesitated to sit.

@Lunamor

Jenny very gently removed Ed’s arm and pushed him along the booth’s bench until he could lean against the wall. She then moved so that she was sitting across from him on the outside edge of the booth.

”I’m not sure if proximity to me is enough to hurt someone. I’d rather be safe than sorry.”

She gave an apologetic, sad smile.

He frowned back. “But we’ve been walking together all this time, and I’m not doing any worse.”

Did she just not want to be by him? He could understand if that was the case. How could anyone want to be with him.
