Jenny led Lucid a little ways away from the girl. She spoke in a whisper, trying to hide her nervousness from the stranger in the event that she woke up.

”Why are you talking to a mortal? She shouldn’t be here! It’s dangerous for both us and her.”

"But- she's nice- and well, it seems she knows about us-"

“Why does she know about us? That’s very, very bad! Did you tell her any details?”

Jenny knew what happened when mortals knew what you were. It was never good. She failed to fully hide her anxiety about this, having started to gesticulate a bit wildly.

"No, none at- oh, I did show her my bow-"

Jenny ran a hand across her face, now extremely stressed. This was going to, at the very least, massively worsen their situation with the mortals.

”Did you explain why you had a bow? That’s an incredibly suspicious object to have on your person when you’re currently the suspect in a manhunt.”

"To be fair, she asked me what I liked, while she had a knife. and she didn't seem suspicious."

“She was carrying a knife and was right in the middle of the scene of a very obvious fight, that is incredibly suspicious!”

Jenny pointed at the large crack in the window covered with plants and the blood stains on the floor.

”Even if she had a knife for normal reasons, tourists aren’t supposed to carry around bows with them.”

Jenny took a deep breath, then sighed.

”I’m sorry for getting mad, it’s just that I know how awful things get when mortals get involved with godly stuff. Imagine if you’d told her that we’d fought a chimera or that I’d been possessed. She’d probably think we were criminally insane.”

"Mhm, I know.. but it felt right, you know?"

Lucid really needed to work on his instincts. Nothing about this was supposed to feel “right”.

“Do you have any specific reasons why we should trust this girl?”

Jenny once again noticed how high up they were. By this point she’d started to get desensitized to it, but it still put her even more on edge.

So, if Stick’s ok with it (once she’s back on), we could maybe have Ashton be able to see through the Mist like Rachel (I think that’s the correct person), which would explain her casual attitude towards all of this. For reference for Stick, the Mist hides all of the god-related stuff from regular humans by making it look like mundane, regular things, but some mortals can see through it.

Edit: I guess we’re technically still in the arch, but I’m fine with us leaving/handwaving getting out whenever. We’ve been stuck up here for quite a while.

I forgot that was a thing, I now no longer recommend having a non-demigod character :P

"I think she might be a really late bloomer."

At this point no one knows some mortals can see through the Mist.

Edgar looked down at the mess of rocks, wires, and a few other things he’d used to make a…wind up toy? In the shape of a dog? A pretty bad looking one though. He wound it up and sent it towards Lucid and Jenny anyway.

“Why do you…”

Jenny trailed off as she noticed a dog toy waddling over. Her attention was immediately diverted away from their conversation and moved to it. She crouched down and inspected it, fascinated.

Edgar smiled. Hopefully the dog would help her with…whatever she was doing. And maybe make her want to come back. It was selfish, but that’s what he wanted.

"I don't know, but she made these really cool wooden things"
He goes and grabs the castle and boat, showing it to Jenny.

Only one person here could make something like this. Jenny looked up and saw Ed smiling. She pointed at the dog and then gave a double thumbs up, grinning. He was so talented.

”Hmm… That reminds me of Ed. It’s not impossible for a mortal to be good at carving, but this does seem like Hephaestus kid work.”

If you end up making Ashton a demigod, her love of carving would fit well with Hephaestus, the god of crafts. Edgar’s a Hephaestus demigod.

He gave her a thumbs up back, then tried and failed to hide a slight wince. But he kept smiling.
