Jenny nodded. She didn’t want to hide either. She’d have to find some way to better protect Ed. She suddenly wanted to start kissing him again, so she began to follow Rob, tugging Ed along with her. They didn’t have time to delay anymore.

He went with her willingly. He felt so happy, nothing could bring him down right now. Well…except Jenny not loving him anymore. He wouldn’t blame her. He shoved away that thought. She loved him, she wouldn’t lie.

Jenny meandered over to Lucid. He’d walked over to her and Ed earlier, but they’d left quickly after that.

”I think we accidentally ditched you earlier, sorry. I got distracted.”

She squeezed Ed’s hand, smiling at him, then looked back to Lucid.

“How are you doing?”

Jenny grinned and looked at Ed. He loved her.

”I’m doing very well.”

She got distracted for a moment.

”Oh, and my side doesn’t hurt too much anymore! Aaron did something that healed it.”

She poked her side in demonstration, then realized that that probably wasn’t doing a great job of communicating how much the injury hurt.

Jenny pulled out of Roy’s grip. Why was everyone so rude today? Perhaps Roy was jealous. That worried her. It might make him want to hurt Ed more than protect him for her. She moved slightly so that she was between Roy and Ed.

Jenny eyed Roy warily for a moment, then forced herself to look ahead. She couldn’t afford to worry about him constantly. She needed to be focused. The quest had to come first. She’d deal with Roy after it was done.

It didn’t take long for Jenny to become tired. Walking was a bit harder than she had anticipated. She was able to do it, but it was rough. The Gift waking stick was the only reason she could keep going without someone else’s aid.

She turned back to Ed.

Their beat-up car was easier to use in more rural areas than a train. 

”What’s it like?”

Jenny had been quickly overwhelmed by a regular city, so she wanted to make sure that she was prepared for the train. They felt a bit intimidating, for some reason.

“It’s like…sitting down at a table, but you’re moving? You don’t notice too much unless you look outside. And they sometimes go choo choo. And some have smoke.”
