Jenny was about to correct him, her face briefly concerned, but realized that he was probably also making a joke and laughed. She blushed a little at the compliment, too. Humor seemed to be helping. She’d make sure to remember that.

”Oh, that’s great! Maybe you can help give Edgar some pointers!”

They needed to stay vigilant, especially now that half of the group had left, so letting people sleep wasn’t a great idea.

He laughed a little too, then grabbed one of her hands, stepping closer so their shoulders were touching.

Please go away he once again mentally pleads. Still pretending to be asleep. He adds a bit more snoring, which he hopes will drive her away. As she would think that he is sleeping.

“Wow, he must be 100% totally asleep,” Edgar said sarcastically.

Jenny repeated the exact same thing, louder this time. Aaron hadn’t been injured, so he could probably do without rest until nighttime. She didn’t want him to be caught unawares by a monster while sleeping.

Jenny said this with complete sincerity.

Aaron

Dang it Jenny and Edgar he thinks to himself, and adds more snoring sounds once again, and wraps himself in a cocoon of vines, and sends himself slightly into the ground. Where he lies down.

“Oh, ok.”

Jenny’s face fell a bit. It was concerning that Aaron was so tired for no apparent reason. She’d have to check up on him if this kept going on.

”I hope he’s alright.”

She fetched a dagger from her pack and held it out to Edgar. It was the same one he had used before- the weapon had seemed to work well for him.

“I’m sure he is,” he said comfortingly.” He took the knife, holding it like she had taught him.

Aaron

Aaron sighs. Finally, got out of that. He brings out a different book this time, How to Make Friends. He reads the front page. Don't Lie. It jumps out at him. He shrugs, and continues reading.

Edgar remembered how to grip the knife. He was a good learner. Jenny modeled the throwing stance as a reminder, holding it for a few moments, then threw Sword. The dagger impacted nearly the exact same spot as before with a thunk.

”Now you try.”

She stepped to the side and faced him, watching his movements so she could provide feedback.

He did so, doing it mostly correctly, though his grip twisted as he threw.

The dagger sailed forwards a fair distance but fell just short of the tree.

”You need to make sure that your grip is steady. Your hand twisted a bit. The goal is for the knife to slide straight out of your hand without causing you to move too.”

Jenny retrieved the two daggers, having to pull rather hard to extricate Sword from the trunk. She handed Edgar’s back to him.

“It’s ok! This takes practice.”

Jenny threw Sword again. She smiled as the thud caused some of the tree’s leaves to shake and turned back to Edgar.

”I like having an excuse to chuck daggers at things, anyways.”

“It is fun, I agree.” He tried again, and did better, though still not quite right.

“Was that right?”

The Great Prophecy was a prediction made by the Oracle of Delphi that foretold the rise or fall of Olympus by a child of the Big Three. thats what google says and this is the prophecy:

A half-blood of the eldest gods

Shall reach sixteen against all odds

And see the world in endless sleep

The hero's soul, cursed blade shall reap

A single choice shall end his days

Olympus to preserve or raze

so basicaly a lot of bad stuff would have happened by now so just curious, sorry for being nit-picky.

“Better! You’re still a bit twisted, but on the right track. Try overcorrecting a little. Sometimes your sense of what’s right is a little skewed.”

She called some of this over her shoulder as she recovered Sword. There was now a sizable chunk missing from the wood. Hopefully Aaron and Rob wouldn’t be too mad at her for this.

If we are going by the books’ timeline, we’d need to make everyone a fair bit younger. Maybe the first line could be interpreted as happening before everything else in the prophecy? Jenny nearly died quite a few times when she was younger. I can change her age to 16 if you’d be more comfortable with that, though. It wouldn’t really change anything about her.

"Okay" he said starting to run, not as fast as Harold would want to maybe but still a good speed and probably faster than he expects.

Harold follows, surprised at the pace. Not as fast as he could, but still a good run.

Jenny beamed. She was becoming quite proud of her teaching skills.

”It helps that you’re such a good student.”

She doubted that she’d have the patience to teach someone like Aaron or, gods forbid, Roy.

He smiled wildly at that. “Thanks, though it’s hard not to pay attention to you.” He blushed.

Jenny blushed too. She was doing quite a lot of that recently, not that she minded. Looking around to make sure that Aaron was still asleep and Kasa wasn’t watching, she gave Edgar a quick peck on the lips. Jenny then threw Sword at lightning speed and ran off to retrieve it.
