Kobold King he/him Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Considering spilling it now....opinions? It feels a little soon, but do you think it could work? It could definitely work now, though it means we miss out on having Aldo and Backtrack slowly turn Lightwards into a paranoid wreck around him. He'd have a hard time keeping his cover when the CorpseMaker War begins in earnest anyway.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted September 20, 2014 Author Posted September 20, 2014 I'll just have her whisper it to Lightwards, then, since Sightline is in the room and she doesn't know how trustworthy he is. And yes, she will threaten acid if he tells any Epic outside the Empire, because she doesn't know anything about Altermind and thinks Jeffrey is a jerk. 1

I will prepare to have Lightwards start banging his head on a cabinet, then. 2

Kobold King he/him Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 She turned all the cabinets to trees, remember? Then is anyone prepared to introduce a splinter-pulling Epic? 1
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted September 20, 2014 Author Posted September 20, 2014 Then is anyone prepared to introduce a splinter-pulling Epic? Is that an invitation for Trimmer to join the Empire?
Edgedancer he/him Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Sounds like a plan. Now how about we plan for Nighthounds return and with whom he returns? On other new, I just realized that I never even came up with a weakness for Candyflame. Sugestions? Then is anyone prepared to introduce a splinter-pulling Epic? I could do that.

Voidus Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 *Pulls out 1000 page binder of Epics with splinter related powers* 5
Kobold King he/him Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Is that an invitation for Trimmer to join the Empire? ...he can pull splinters out of people? Trimmer just became my new favorite Epic. Sounds like a plan. Now how about we plan for Nighthounds return and with whom he returns? On other new, I just realized that I never even came up with a weakness for Candyflame. Sugestions? I could do that. There's a part of me that wants to suggest "Lightwards ordering her execution" as a weakness, but I doubt I'd get away with it. What was she before Calamity?
Edgedancer he/him Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Broccoli. We could do that. There's a part of me that wants to suggest "Lightwards ordering her execution" as a weakness, but I doubt I'd get away with it. What was she before Calamity? Sadly, I don´t think that would make much sense. Good question, the problem with creating random Epics by Pony generator is that they don´t come with much of a backstory but I would say some kind of botanist.

Broccoli could fit with the botanist backstory. Ponified the momentum twins: Impact: MV: Two ponies for the price of one create code. 4

Edgedancer he/him Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 (edited) Those are awesome, I felt like it was a game of spot the difference for a second Yeah, it´s fun to search for them. I count four five at the moment. Edited September 20, 2014 by Edgedancer
Kobold King he/him Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Yeah, it´s fun to search for them. I count four five at the moment. Bet you're not counting the subtle color code differences in their gemstones.

TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted September 20, 2014 Author Posted September 20, 2014 Am I up or is Kobold?
Voidus Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Am I up or is Kobold? Depends on if you want to do the reveal I'd say.
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted September 20, 2014 Author Posted September 20, 2014 Yes, but it might make more sense if Lightwards demanded to know what's going on first.
Kobold King he/him Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Yes, but it might make more sense if Lightwards demanded to know what's going on first. I could do that. He's put on his Faux Affably Evil act at the moment, but he's paranoid and very much knows that Funtimes and co. are keeping him in the dark. Also, next on my quest to ponify all of Voidus' Epics: Strongsteel. 2
Voidus Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Yes, but it might make more sense if Lightwards demanded to know what's going on first. Fair enough, but then when we're dealing with Funtimes what makes sense rarely makes sense I could do that. He's put on his Faux Affably Evil act at the moment, but he's paranoid and very much knows that Funtimes and co. are keeping him in the dark. Also, next on my quest to ponify all of Voidus' Epics: Strongsteel. I really need to get on top of all of those don't I? The only pony I've made is SoulSwitch's so far.

Also bringing up the count made me find this song. He should have a chat with Slaughterhouse. In fact one of my old childhood nighmares was about this guy, so now I´m tempted to squeze him into Calamityvile. It´s funny how we always get sidetracked from conversations conqerning Nighthound, almost as if none of us wanted to talk about the guy.

Actually, I had a thought about Nighthound. It might prove to be just as crazy as Doctor Funtimes, so feel free to slap me down. I've been thinking more about Nighthound as a gifter since reading this post: This is very interesting, and I have an idea of what that ephemeral quality is. Hatred. Hatred and contempt are what drives an Epic, and nowhere is it more apparent than in High Epics like Steelheart or Nightwielder. It is also the most notable Epic-like trait that separates David from Tia and the other Reckoners. Throughout the novel, David is shown to be consumed by his loathing for Steelheart. If hatred truly is a fundamental characteristic of Epic powers, then it only makes sense that a particularly hateful person could use a gifted ability with more skill than anyone else. Hatred is also one of the most-stressed traits that David has in common with Prof, who is a High Epic. I would be genuinely surprised if the mental act of hatred did not turn out to be very important in Epic-ology. David's hatred of Steelheart is what drives him. This is established very early on, and it is hinted that David is unnaturally gifted with the tensors. As Kobold pointed out, there is most likely a connection between Epics, their hatred of humanity and/or each other, and humans' ability to use gifted Epic abilities. Nighthound is a gifter who takes control through gifting. If there is indeed a connection between hatred and ability to control gifted abilities, would it be possible for someone with a burning hatred of psychotic Epics (whose name rhymes with Lemmington Ringfield) to take control of Nighthound's gifted abilities long enough to turn on him? Again, it was just a stray thought, so feel free to slap me down. 2

It´s a good thought but if we get really technical than Nighthound´s gifting ability and his ability to take control over others are two seperate things. His gifting is just that gifting, every one could in theory use them freely, although a lack of control might lead to broken bones. The act of taking control on the other hand hijacks the motory function of his victim, leaving their mind alone, he simply need a bit of his other powers in them as a catalyst. So no, overpowering the powers isn´t posible in general, I supposse that a strong will could free itself with enough time but in that case the streght would also return to Nighthound, one could say that he has a safety in place. Not even Bemington Lingfield could change that. 2

So can we bring on the evil butterflies now? ) 1
