Chaos he/him Posted November 5, 2010 Author Posted November 5, 2010 I can put this issue to rest ;D. Brandon told me at the Dallas signing for Towers of Midnight that the Almighty held Honor. Seriously? That's awesome! What other fun facts are you hiding in your brain
Andrew the Great he/him Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 And why did it never occur to the rest of us that we could just ask? It might be time to revise our question asking policies...
Zas678 he/him Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 You know what? We should have a Q&A thread, where we keep a list of unanswerable questions and whenever a 17th shard member goes to a signing, he brings the questions with him and posts the answers.
Munin he/him Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 And why did it never occur to the rest of us that we could just ask? Where's the fun in that?

I had the same thought. We need to get this down to a science.

I had the same thought. We need to get this down to a science. Better yet, we form up an elite team, and anytime we have a question, we kidnap and interrogate Brandon.

I think a page in the Coppermind would make more sense for something like this. But it's a great idea
Andrew the Great he/him Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 I don't know. The forum is more suited to discussion, whereas the Coppermind is more intended for the permanent, confirmed knowledge. The answers to all questions should get put into a page on the Coppermind, I agree, but the questions themselves are better off in the forum.

Andrew the Great he/him Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I do that. I consider it a part of my job. (Looked at my sig lately?)
PeterAhlstrom he/him Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 You've got the answer already, but you guys should really pay more attention to chapter titles in the future. Go look at chapter 2. There are also references to other things in the chapter titles that I don't think people have mentioned.

I now wish that I had my copy here with me so that I could read the chapter titles...

trendkill he/him Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Thanks! Now I will always be able to find them quickly! Provided I have an internet connection. (Took a bit of searching to find a list on my own..) Other than Chapter 2, I can't find any secrets in there... But as soon as someone else points one out, I will be kicking myself for not seeing it.
beatlesfan42 Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 So, I guess that cinches it. The Almighty's shard is more than likely Honor. Unless the mysterious Peter Ahlstrom is pulling the wool over our eyes...
CrazyRioter she/her Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Peter is Brandon's personal assistant, so he knows what he's talking about.

Unless the mysterious Peter Ahlstrom is pulling the wool over our eyes... I'm fairly certain this was definitively confirmed already, but I don't have the citation needed to verify that. Anyone able to lend a hand? Edit: It was actually on Page 2 of this thread that I was getting my info. Luminos asked Brandon at a signing and was told it was Honor. Granted, he could have been making it up, but that seems a silly thing to do.
Link Von Kelsier Harvey he/him Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Hmm...What's Eshonai? The name of the Parshendi Shardbearer perhaps? I kinda skimmed the chapter looking for stuff and didn't find anything else. Somebody let me know if I missed something.
lordofsoup Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Is it possible that the storms on Roshar are similar to the mist/ deepness in Mistborn? They are the remnants of the shard's power looking for a new owner. The shattered planes are where the Almighty died. There is a face at the center of the storm, like there was the shadow remaining of Preservation.
Chaos he/him Posted January 7, 2011 Author Posted January 7, 2011 Wow, Honor is Dead. That's brilliant.
happyman he/him Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 So the Almighty is Honor. I suppose that Honorspren are almost directly connected to him, then? Perhaps they're splinters, or some such thing. Perhaps their pieces of what is left of his cognitive aspect; after all, unlike most Spren, they can think.
lordofsoup Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Im confused, the title name suggests that the Almighty was killed recently, so Honor spren would be a new creation? or would they have been around while the Almighty still lived
TheFinisher4Ever he/him Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 It's possible that the Almighty gave the Knights Radiant their abilities directly until he was killed. And when he died, he shattered into spren. Aren't the Seons from Elantris pieces of the shard there? That would explain the lack of spren in Dalinar's vision. Of coarse, that wouldn't explain Nohodan(sp?) mentioning how some spren weren't as discerning as Honor spren.
Zas678 he/him Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 *Spoliers (sort of) Cosmere terms follow* There are many of us that think that Seons are Splinters of Aona, but that is just our guess. It is possible to have splinters without shattering the shard. The "super breath" that the Returned have are actually Splinters of Endowment, yet he's still up and kicking (as far as we know). So maybe there's two types of Splinters. There's the type that's given (presumably at a sacrifice) from Shards, there's those that arise after a Shard is splintered (what verb does Hoid use when describing Aona?). So maybe Syl is a remnant from the past, but she hasn't been around anyone of honor, so she hasn't bonded to anyone like she has with Kaladin. Or maybe, she's a recent Splinter from when the Almighty died. Or maybe she isn't a Splinter at all. Isn't speculation fun?

To answer your question: In case you have turned a blind eye to that disaster, know that Aona and Skai are both dead, and that which they held has been Splintered. Hey, the wiki is coming in handy!
