"I find that the best option is to remember that there are many things you can't see, and that doesn't make them not exist." He paused. "I heard similar things, from my father, mostly. The first time I died it was because I sacrificed myself to save someone else. Not heroically, just because I thought I was worth less."

He didn't have an avatar at the time, so it was even more difficult for him to get involved in that sort of thing. After Malum died during the battle with Kaos, Death was ready to reclaim me, but decided that he would offer me the work instead of having me die completely. So he gave me the dagger, and I died in battle. It was kind of one death, at two different times."
