He did not immediately respond, but when his eyes opened, she felt a horrible tearing, like a piece of her was being ripped away. She realized it was the connection to TAAron being cut, leaving an emptiness in the space she hadn't know it took up. 

TAAron blinked dazedly. "Haly... I'm sorry. It was trying to freeze in place around me. I had to cut it off."

“I’m okay.” It did hurt, though, even getting over the shock. And it felt so… empty.

He took her hand. The feeling slowly began to fade, but so did her memory of what the connection had felt like. She could remember having it, but what it had actually been like to share in his thoughts and emotions that way was lost to her, like a dream after waking up.

That made her sad. It had felt so… intimate, being connected like that. 

She should have enjoyed it better.

Veer finishes his meal, not really knowing what time it is. Apparently Mead Bush had left while he was absorbed in the dragonpedia. Veer absently scratches his shoulder, and gets up. He wanders the halls in search of someone or something interesting.
