“Well if you excuse me,” he hums, “I have a girlfriend to find. Join if you want!” He hums a quick tune, and the staves glow blue while wrapping around his legs. He takes off down the hallway that Lundyn had only ever experienced in free fall. 

"Aventine's your girlfriend?" Quinn asked. He wasn't really sure how he knew what the person's name was. Maybe it was mentioned earlier.

This does make a bit more sense. Pic would've cared about the safety of the clinic  more if he didn't know where his romantic interest was or whatever. Quinn wasn't really sure what their relationship status was, and didn't want to pry to find out.

Elan followed behind, writing in the air with a pen, brow furrowed as he cast numerous spells and protections, editing the reality around him. He tensed as Pic approached, then relaxed, continuing to follow, finishing up the spells and desummoning the pen. “Careful.”
