Addison slipped out after them, going the other direction. If she left…got lost…ended it, she wouldn’t hurt them again.

Tal didn’t notice, just kept walking, walking, walking, down to the basement, into a magic-restricting cell. The pounding headache returned, but this time he didn’t pass out. So he closed his eyes and started to think. It was time to defeat this parasite, once and for all.

Pic nods, eyes closed for a few more moments, bringing the volume of his voice down to less than a whisper. He then opens his eyes and focuses on the chamber.
