Ok, not sure if I'll be able to be on at rollover, so gonna put some thoughts now.

Current VC is:

Wiz (2): Pyro, Raven

Sart (2): Mat, Fifth

Mat (1): Exp

Raven (1): Violet

JNV (1): Sart

Non voters are TKN, JNV, Wiz

@The Known Novel and @JNV got anything to say?

A tie probably isn't the best for us, but I'm not really feeling Wiz or Sart rn. If I had to pick one to vote, it'd prob be Sart.

Ravens response to Wiz's vote reads village to me.

Mat seems okay. Mostly villagery vibes, but idk.

Ig for now I'll leave my vote where it is.

Ninja?

Okay actually I think Exp is a villager based off that

Like 90% sure

Alrighty. Wait, what happens if you try to shoot the GM?

If it's the Smoking Gun, it counts as a refusal to use the gun, and you die

To be fair, most of the local lawmen would say trying to shoot Warn is a deathwish...

There are games where shooting or exeing the GM does something. This is a simple, non-blackout game so it ain't it :P

Edited to add:

Current votecount according to my tally:

Quote

The Wandering Wizard (3): PyroPhile, Ravenclawjedi42, Violet
Experience (2): Sart, The Known Novel
Sart (2): Fifth Scholar, Matrim's Dice
Matrim's Dice (1): Experience

What happens if it isn't the smoking gun but something else? :eyes: Speaking of which, how do the Lawmen kill the people in the writeup? (Is it shooting?)

There's no specific way because the write-up isn't supposed to give you extra information, so proceed off it at your own peril. If I want to write someone getting stabbed by a lightsaber and dying, I absolutely will :P

So the write-up could be Dareth Vader returning beyond the grave to force-choke some-one? Good to know.

I'm confused how that connection you made works?

Cycle Two: Shots Fired

At some point, Warn had gotten bored of hovering threateningly over the gathered members of the Red Band and had left with a smirk and a gesture—pointing at his eyes, and then two fingers drawn across the throat, sharply—at the outlaw who still held Warn’s Sterrion in hand.

The message was clear: Warn was watching. Someone was going to have to die.

“The rest of you, keep searching,” Warn said. “You think you’ve figured out who the turncoat is, you let me know. Beefing those lawmen hiding among us…we ain’t safe until we do that.” He turned and strode out of the room, moving deeper into the hideout.

The remaining members of the Band stared at each other. Some began to get up and leave. “We still have to find someone,” rasped one of them. “The Mistress—I mean, uh, the Chief won’t like it if we can’t hand over a name to him.”

Violet squinted at him. “You seem really eager to hand someone over. Sounds like a lawman to me.”

Rajib was playing with a cravat. Well-dressed, unusually so in the Roughs. Something that stood out, like that Elendel accent. The Urbain looked up, eyes narrowed. “You’re unusually eager to be pointing out people. Almost as though you’re choosing targets.”

There was a burst of bright red smoke, thick and choking. Everyone in the room doubled over, eyes burning and watering and coughing.

There was the loud bark of multiple shots fired, going off almost all at once. Stench of gunsmoke.

By the time the smoke cleared, Violet, Adze, and the outlaw whose name no one could remember but who’d been going on about sacrificing others to his dread Mistress—they all lay flat on the ground, bleeding out. Doug dashed over to check on each of them in turn, but it was too late. All three, stone-cold dead.

“Well, Ironeyes’s gaze,” Kern said, at last. “I thought Warn was pulling another one with his paranoia. Looks like he’s right. We got some lawmen among us.” He bent down and picked up a metal orb from the ground. It had cracked open, and a puff of red smoke leaked out from it. The blackened fuse was burned all the way down to a stub.

“Smoke bomb,” Rajib said. “Haven’t seen one of those since—”

Kern hefted it in his hand. “Yeah,” he said slowly. “It’s city-make. No one in the Roughs uses that sorta thing. We got trouble.”

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, Something beyond shadows stilled.

For a moment, the Mind Walkers heard the calling falter, silenced.

It resumed, for what is a moment but a teardrop in the palm of the infinite?

Next to that, what is a solitary life?

In addition, this is an activity warning for @JNV - if you do not show up this cycle, you will be deleted removed by the filter.

Cycle Two has begun! It will end on Monday, 16th October 2023, at 2300hrs SGT (GMT +8).

Rule Clarifications:

Spoiler
  • A koloss-blooded player who has not burned that extra life and fails to use the Smoking Gun will not die. This is due to how the koloss-blooded survival works.
  • The Smoking Gun will be soft RNGed. If a player who has already received the gun is tipped to get it again, I will reroll once.
  • There are no action limits.
  • The Smoking Gun lets you kill.

Player List:

Spoiler

1. @Matrim's Dice
2. Fifth Scholar - Adze, best shot in the Band Scoundrel
3. @Experience - Mud, a Lurcher (RIP)
4. @The Known Novel - Danji, a dirt-poor Coinshot
5. The Wandering Wizard - ???, an unnamed Aboleth cultist. Scoundrel
6. @JNV
7. @Ravenclawjedi42 - Rajib Urbain, recent refugee from the Set
8. @PyroPhile - The Doug
9. @Sart
10. Violet - Scoundrel

I'm guessing whoever used the gun shot Violet? Just because fifth makes more sense as an elim kill. Could be the other way around ig.

I'll have some time later on to do some analysis.

But assuming there are two elims, could this possibly be lylo? In a 2:2 scenario would elims win? Or do they just have to play it out to see? Cuz right now assuming 2 elims is 2:5 so if we mislynch and whoever has the gun misfires again...then we're in a lot of trouble.

Actually, that’s a good point, JNV. Village points for you.

That leaves TKN, Ravenclaw, Pyro, and Sart. I doubt Kas went with a team of two new players, so logically if we exe TKN and shoot Sart, or vice versa, we should hit an elim.

Thoughts? I don’t really want to kill based on pure logic but I think this makes sense.

Really? That seems a bit too clean. Your process of elimination seems off. I'm definitely not clearing Experience yet, and that post made you go up the suspect list.

I don’t expect you two to agree with it :P. I think Exp is village based of last turn, for reasons I can explain again if required. @Sart, why vote him?

Another problem with that is that there is a good chance that the Lawmen have the Smoking Gun.

Would anyone else like to vote please? I'm going to be busy this evening, so I won't be able to follow along.

Is it allowed to not vote? I don’t want to vote out another village

Technically yes, but it's generally not a good strategy. It's a great way to get information, and more importantly, it's the only way for the town at large to influence the game. While we might mess up, it's worth it to eliminate the evil players.

Posted

Backreading proved mostly useless because Pyro's vote was a poke and Violet died, but I don't super love Ravenclaw's. It's definitely the worst of the bunch. Hard to tell with a train entirely comprised of new players. I still don't think e!Exp ever posts that reads list and stays on me, though. Even in writing the wrong thing. That interaction looks very good for him, and based on how his train didn't prompt any change in the VC (expect maybe Violet voting Wiz, and that obviously is a fruitless path of analysis) I'm fine chalking him up as village.

This in turn makes Sart's push look bad, and I don't like his phrasing in calling out my logic-- "Your process of elimination seems off" doesn't seem like something a villager (who knows I'm wrong) would say.

So I'll vote Sart despite my history with just e reading him regardless of everything, because I really don't have anything else (unless people vote TKN) and I do think Exp is village.

Bad idea. The lynch is our only way to kill elims. Not lynch just gives us less information to find them. You're bound to vote villagers out, but the idea is that you can figure out who the elims are based on how people interact because of those votes.

I still need to put together a reads(gut feels) list to get a better vote so I'll refrain from voting now. If it comes down to it tho, I will be self pressing.
