I’ve seen a lot of polls that are the opposite of this one, I was wondering what the findings would be if something like this. I think the poll itself is pretty self-explanatory.

Aight, I have to know.

Who chose Shadows of Self as their least favorite Cosmere novel? And why?

The poll is public, it was @The Sibling. As for why, I have no idea.

Really? It's like picking your least favorite child! You're breaking my heart! I can't do it - White Sand.

That's because it's a graphic novel, and it just loses something in that form. It is readed too fast, it's short and misses a lot. I haven't read the prose version, maybe it would change my opinion a bit. But I have to shamefully admit that Elantris would probably be my second pick - don't get me wrong, I like it of course, I really enjoy reading it, but I always have a really hard time getting myself to reread it. I've been planning to reread it for a year now and I'm still not even close to starting rereading.

My least favorite series is again White Sand, but I'm not sure if we can call it a series yet. Except for Mistborn era 1, Mistborn era 2 and SA, the rest is just standalone for now.

For the novella it'sThe Hope of Elantris. But is it really a novella? Excluding those really short stories (The Hope of Elantris, The Eleventh Metal and Allomancer Jak) it's a much harder pick, as I've enjoyed all of them. In that case I would probably pick Sixth of the Dust, but with a truly broken heart.

Someone voted for Secret History? That was unexpected. I'm really curious why.

Yeah, as much as I hate Kelsier (sorry), Secret History was amazing, probably my second favorite novella (after Emporer’s Soul). And by novella I meant novella/short story, but I was too lazy to write the extra two words.

The White Sand book was quite good actually.

Spoiler

I didn't enjoy the reveal that Lessie was Paalm or that Paalm was the governor. Not for any particular reason, just a lot of Brandon's other reveals work a lot better for me.

mistborn era 2 spoilers

huh.

Well I guess that's fair, in your opinion. *shrugs*

I'll always consider it amazing, no matter what.

Honestly I don't even remember it that well, I think because it didn't really make an impact on me. Maybe if I re-read it it will land better but the first time through it didn't bring up much emotion in me.

To be fair to the book though, I did really speed through Era 2 and now that I've re-read Bands of Mourning I do really like it.

That makes sense. For me, Dune Messiah was the same. It didn't work for me, but the reread was worth it. I hope you give Shadows another try sometime!

I am not a huge fan of Warbreaker, granted the only thing I haven't read is White Sand. It just never clicked for me even if I like the world a lot. I am glad I have read it though since it seems to be very important in the long term.

I have the same question for you about Warbreaker.

I'm not a fan of bedroom scenes.

For Warbreaker, I can see your point of view... I share it for the most part. Lightsong, Vivenna and Vasher save it for me.

White sand... I will always dislike the non-omnibus graphic novel. That was.... not good... it's the worst of Brandon politics combined into one story.

Politics?

I mean how he writes politics, not his own politics. Some of the politics Brandon has written have not been very well done... White Sand is a prime example. The characters just walk up to someone and say, "Well... wanna join us so that we can do stuff?" Then they just outright agree like what...

That does make sense. I like the magic system a lot, a Nightblood was amazing, but I c see your point of view.

And I liked White Sand too.
