The ex-shovel man likely would have commented on the unfairness of the skeletons attacking him instead of the fully conscious and dangerous sleeper, had he been awake at the time.

They do not comment on how sleeper is such a side character that they forgot about him, as they like the ex-shovel man's redemption arc better.
