art 17th Shard Art Brawl Unofficial Planning Thread

Greetings, Travelers!

Welcome to the biginning of the monthly 17th Shard Art Brawl thread! @Kajsa :) and I had the idea to create this when we were both bored (at least, I was), and here we are! I'm too lazy to type out all of the rules for this, plus, my hands and wrists are cramping up because of how long I've been sitting at the computer for a super long time, so I'll edit this post later and add in the rules. Also, Kajsa, if you have ideas for rules, please feel free to post them on here ^^

Basically, Kajsa and I will be in charge of each round. the amount of rounds each month is still TBD, and so is basically everything else lol.

If you wish to participate, please announce that in this topic.

People will post prompts here, and then the participants will have a specific amount of time to create a 2D art piece based off of the prompt that was given. If you fail to meet the deadline for submissions, you will not be included for that round.

I have more ideas for this but my fingers are cramping really bad so I'LL BE BACK WITH MORE INFO!

I don’t believe we’ll have any issues with this, but it’s important that I put down some basic guidelines for prompts, artworks, and comments/behavior anyways. 

1. NSFW media will not be tolerated. This includes explicit, inappropriately sexual, or other “adult” content. 
2. Criticism or unwanted critiques will not be tolerated. If you are unsure exactly what this includes, PM me and I’ll help you get it cleared up. 
3. The art community is a safe place and must remain one. If you are unkind, etc., this will not be tolerated and you will be removed from the thread. 

There are probably some more specific guidelines that should be put down for the good of the group, but I’m running out of time to type  I’ll be back later!

I'll post the participants in a few days (maybe) and will edit the post as needed. If you think people will want to join, make sure to ping them! I'm willing to use a separate platform, even, for people who aren't on the shard!

I would really love to join but I was just wondering about the timeline of this? I won't be available the week after this week and I just don't want to sign up for something that I can't actually participate in. Great idea by the way! If this doesn't work out, I'll definitely join a later round because this sounds awesome!

We actually haven't decided about the timeline yet- lol

BUT! We're still working on seeing if anyone else is wanting to join before we start. It's probably going to start at the beginning of July, and then it will last all month, since I know that people can sometimes have a busy schedule. And then at the end of the month, one of the judges/hosts (me or @Kajsa :)) will post everyone's art in a separate post so that everyone can vote one a single art piece by giving it rep (although, we might decide on a different form of voting. We shall see. ^^). So it will last for a month, that way those who are participating will be able to have a reasonable amount of time to create the art piece and submit it into the competition. When you submit your art, do it through a PM, and send it to both me and @Kajsa :).

Sorry, for double posting, but I have an announcement:

For those of you who are going to be participating ( @Mystic Syn, @Edema Ruh, @The Wandering Wizard, @Shadowed, @Cruciatus_heart, @DramaQueen, @The Sibling ) and also the other judge, @Kajsa :), we might have to postpone the Art Brawl to next month (August), due to me, and probably some other people who will be participating in ArtFight this July (if you wanted, you should could join it this year, I've heard it's really fun! This'll be my first year participating in it!)

But, depending on how many people reply to this saying that they will not be participating in ArtFight this next month, then we might just continue as planned

 

Also, we might change the time length of each challenge to a bi-weekly or tri-weekly challenge. Let me know whether you like to keep it as a monthly thing, or if you'd like to change it to one of the weekly options.

It's a thing that happens every July where TONS of artists gather together (online) and "attack" a member of the other team or "defend" a member of the same team as you. Attacks and defenses are art created by you, but of other people's characters. it's super fun, and it starts on July 1st. You get to make art for other people, while other people make art for you! You should join! Here's a link to it.

btw, if you wanna find a free platform for creating digital art, I recommend using Magma Studios, Ibis Paint X, or MediBang Paint

Yippee! uhhhh so in the little button options at the top, if you click the last one, which says "Submit", it gives you an option to submit a character. Then it'll give you a little sheet thingy to fill out. At first, it only lets you add one image of the character, bat once you submit the character, if you click the little arrow on the right side of your pfp, it has a dropdown menu. Scroll down to where it says "Characters", click it, and then under the character image, there's a button that says "Edit". Click it, and it should bring you to a page that looks somewhat like this:

click the "Image" button at the top (it's highlighted in the image), and then scroll down 'till you see this (it's not that far down):

and then just add more images! ^^
