The Quest Roster had largely unchanged, with explanations for each type of quest available in QuestAdventure:

  • Public Quests: A database full of quests that reset/replace every day or so, yielding low but consistent results. All players can complete them without limit. Each player receives five Public Quests every day in their Tome that they can attempt.
  • Semi-Public Quests: Many questlines can only begin by talking to certain NPCs or setting off certain triggers. Once begun, the details of the quest are recorded and kept in your Tome. Most are inexhaustible like Public Quests, but some will be removed after a certain number of players have completed them.
  • Exclusive Quests: Single-play quests, often difficult to find or even more difficult to complete. Once a player or group of players completes it, the Quest is erased from the Roster.

However, a new fourth version was added as well:

  • Private Quests: Players may now post quests of their own to the Roster, selecting the conditions to trigger them (using one of the three formats above) or even limiting which other players can access them in the first place. A Private Quest’s conditions must be determined beforehand, and will be stored in the Roster to automatically fulfil upon completion of the quest. A small fee is charged to post a Private Quest to the Roster.

Unless stated otherwise, all quests are open for the quester to bring friends and allies. There is occasionally a maximum player limit.

"I wonder what the Adventure is this time..." Deeno started reading through his list of Public Quests. Nothing really stuck out to him much.

  • Goblin Slayer - Eliminate the goblin scouting party that threatens Southshire
    • Details: Locals have been seeing goblins more often than they'd like to recently. Speak to the Southshire town elder to begin the quest.
    • Reward: 10-15 Doubloons, [][][][][][][][][][], [][][][][][][][][][]
  • Wild Steed - Recapture a lost horse
    • Details: Evelyn from the Doucaw Bakery has lost her loyal equestine partner, and is currently incapable of making her rounds. Speak to her to begin the quest.
    • Reward: ??? Doubloons, [][][][][][][][][][]
  • Alchemist's Assistant - Provide an extra set of hands for a local alchemist
    • Details: Mg. Doriah Vandersann's last assistant quit due to poor working conditions. Speak to the Alchemist to begin the quest.
    • Reward: 5-10 Doubloons, [][][][][][][][][][][], [][][][][][][][][][]
  • A Respectfully Rare Material - Find a certain ore for the Southshire smithy
    • Details: Rumors have reached Soutshire of a new vein of Adantine Ore. Speak to the Southshire mastersmith to begin the quest.

I have managed to file several repeat instances, but you would be alerting the authorities by accessing them. I imagine they would put me offline for an indefinite period of time.

"All this for a game," muttered Alex. He could probably get the information if he really tried, but he doubted it would be worth the effort. "Sorcerer Elf," he declared at last, somewhat arbitrarily.

@Channelknight Fadran, did the creators of the PA headset patent their invention when they first created it?

Oh, I guys I missed that for the exclusive ones.

"Right. I don't know... You pick."

“I like the look of the adantine ore one. It has a relatively high gold reward, and two of those mystery rewards.”

"Oh yeah... gear." Deeno opened his satchel and started rummaging inside, the details of various items beaming into his mind as his fingers brushed across them.

Lv. 1 - Arrows (20)

Lv. 1 - Dagger

Lv. 1 - Wallet (10 Doubloons)

Yes, this character is, once again, basically just a version of me.

Do I care?

No.

Darrin sighed as he looked at the limited options for character creation.

Elf Sorcerer it is, he sighed. I'll have time to make it unique and un-cliche-y later.

He was pleased to find that no one had taken the username yet. He completed character creation and logged on.

He momentarily adjusted to the new world that suddenly sprang into existence around him. The Nexus. A beautiful, if somewhat standard, fantasy city. And here he was, conveniently in the middle, where seemingly thousands of players were running around, accepting quests and doing whatever it was they were doing.

He started walking towards the main quest roster, looking for something to do.

Most annoying thing about this game is the lack of a proper storyline. I always have trouble in these choose-your-own-path things in the beginning...

Are we assuming Darrin already knows these guys, or do we want him to be a newbie that gets roped in with them?

If that's the case, I'd prefer to be a new person. I just don't know how my character would end up doing the exact same quest as everyone else.
