The Bookwyrm he/him Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 (edited) Worldseer - Might as well think of myself by my username in here - found his menu tome in his satchel and pulled it out. He flipped through it, noting changes from the update, and familiarizing himself with the layout. Most of it was the same. He also took note of a few areas of the tome that he was unable to read at that point. So there is progress to be made... He found the quest roster and looked at the day's public quests. It was a good place to start as any. He was really looking forward to the long-winding Private Quests, the ones that nicely illustrated the world and actually had story, but...you had to start somewhere. He noticed that one of the interesting looking quests already had a few names logged on next to it; something about finding a special ore for a smith in a nearby town. Pyrophile232, Deeno_The_Fourth, and TuringRose. Time to make some friends, I suppose. He selected the quest, then noted the magical beacon that had appeared in the corner of his vision. He slid his tome back into his satchel and started walking to find these other three players. @Channelknight Fadran @PyroPhile @The Aspiring Archivist Edited June 3, 2023 by The Bookwyrm

Upon mentally searching for where to find that, the software put the image of the small tome in his satchel in his mind. He pulled it out and flipped through, familiarizing himself with its different uses. And noting which of those uses still seemed to be blocked. I'd imagined that if I didn't know where something was, user interface-wise, the software would just kind of...tell me? Where to find the menu? Kind of like how you get a little tip at the beginning of games that says "press this to open the menu," but in this it's more like it's implanting in my head where the menu is. If that's not how this works I'll change it.

Channelknight Fadran Posted June 3, 2023 Author Posted June 3, 2023 Quote Fair enough. I think it's reasonable to assume that your character would already know all this stuff, as QuestAdventure's been around for long enough for everyone to know just about everything about at least the basics

Channelknight Fadran Posted June 4, 2023 Author Posted June 4, 2023 Southshire was, somewhat predictably, just a few miles south of the Nexus. In modern terms Deeno would've thought of it as more of a suburb than anything, but if the game called it a town then he supposed that's what it was. A cute, homey sort of village. Mostly centered along a single main road, though the outstreets went on for quite a ways on their own as well. The smithy wasn't far from the town gates, and for most players would probably serve as more of a town centerpiece than the mayoral hall or plaza ever would. Dozens of others crowded around the wall in the front to order new gear, though where they'd have gotten the money by now was beyond him. It was his own quest, so Deeno did the talking to get it started, but he made sure to keep his friends close for the details to record themselves in their tomes as well. "We're here about your request for mercenaries to find the Adantine ore?" The mastersmith was a tall, bulky, and absolutely shredded man with a massive beard. He hammered away at his anvil as he spoke. "Ah, yeh... these friends of yours? I ain't got the money to pay more than five, but looks like you're good for now." @The Bookwyrm (feel free to show up whenevs) @The Aspiring Archivist @PyroPhile On 6/2/2023 at 3:25 PM, xinoehp512 said: "All this for a game," muttered Alex. The Bookwyrm he/him Posted June 4, 2023 Posted June 4, 2023 Worldseer made his way to the small village near the border of Nexus, Southshire. There was already a fair clump of players there, gathering equipment and supplies for whatever random quests they'd accepted. He found his way to the smithy and noted three other players talking to the Mastersmith. He awkwardly walked up to them. "Uh, hello," he said. "I think I've accepted the same quest as you all."

Channelknight Fadran Posted June 4, 2023 Author Posted June 4, 2023 "Wonderful. There's a five-player limit on this one." Deeno brought out his Tome again, searching for an option to add Allies. Strangely enough, it didn't seem to exist. "There's four of us now." @xinoehp512 (there's room for you too, bud)
