Variance sat by, worried. "What did they say about this new arrival?"

"Then come and perception knife him. We can leave him behind."

Okay. Thinking about it, thousands of years or longer makes more sense for Shim given that his name is completely forgotten, but probably not millions like Variance. (dang that guy's old).

Shim's glow shifted to the color of sunlight at Ayia's words. "Excellent. I'm glad your leader is sensible, even if some of you aren't. All I wish to do is observe you on your quest, and perhaps offer some aid."

"I'm so glad our company is made up of half humanoid people, and half invincible spirits. Okay, so Shim, what can you do?"

"Well, I can change my frequency, wavelength, and intensity at will, within certain limits."

"I can also offer advice. I have experience with many kinds of magic, and curses and their effects have been a particular area of interest for me in recent times."

"Yeah, but the massive ships, you know, they don't really care about magic and curses. So is there anything you can do about that?"

"Sadly, my curse prevents me from using my powers, else I could destroy those ships and all who are in them. But you seem to have things under control in that regard."

"So let me get this straight. All you can do is nothing. You can't do anything. But you can give advice. Can you at least make yourself invisible?"

"I can modulate my wavelength to make myself invisible to human eyes."

"No, I can't. But on your first point, I should be able to blend in with natural light, and I can dim myself enough to be almost undetectable."

“Kkhlei standard— not sure what it is exactly.”

"Can you turn other people invisible? Cause we're gonna have to sneak on a ship sooner or later so it might help."
