How is Vin anchoring herself in this scene?

I thought you could move only move a metal or move away from a metal directly away from it. If she’s pushed away from the roof shouldn’t she go upwards.

This suggest that the roof was angled or at least its portion with the skylight was angled. In that case Vin could push herself against an angled roof and that push would be in line with the coin push. She is more or less horizontally between the angled roof and the coin.

Ah so her push would have thrust her forwards instead of up and instead of pushing her forwards it pushed
