Rayvyn thought for a moment. "So I should stab her!" She pointed at Eliira. "Because she looks sad, so being stabbed would make her happy!"

Fadran looked confused. "Jay, none of us are saying that stabbing is fun except Rayvyn."

“But Rayvyn has a funny way of speaking and cool weapons, soooooo I want to listen to her!” Jay stopped walking and stroked his nonexistent beard in thought (he thought it looked cool— it did not) “I suppose you did give me soup, and you have a cool inn that can make portals…”

“Stabbing is very fun!”

Jay looked back over at Rayvyn “Y’know I don’t actually know what stabbing, and I suppose you can’t think something is cool if you don’t know about it.” Jay nodded to himself as if convincing himself that he’d made the right decision “sorry Rayvyn, I’m on his side” then to make sure she knew it wasn’t a personal decision he added “he gave me soup”

“Speaking of soup, I’m hungry. How much further do we have to walk ‘till we get to the Tavern Glena?”

Rayvyn nodded, understanding his logic perfectly. “Yes. It was good soup.”

The group arrived at what looked like a glowing red disc, large enough for the whole group to stand on. It had no railing.

"Alright, everyone on the red circle. It'll take us to a lower Tier."

“Yes! Finally!” Jay leaped onto the platform “all this walking has made me even more ravenous! Is this lower Tier where the food is? Or will we see more things along the way?”

I'm just gonna assume that everyone got on the platform.

As soon as everyone got on the platform, it began descending. There was a huge mess of metal and pipes below the platform.

Okay this has been far, far too quiet.

"How peculiar," Rayvyn said, peering over the side.

As the platform descended Jay thought. He thought about his hungry stomach, he thought about the Mishmash inn, he thought about this strange new place with its solid light and not-magic. Most of all, he thought about home, his Za, the trees, the lakes, that first day he'd mastered flight. When he'd left he had never thought he would want to go back there again but now... well hindsight was a powerful tool. What he'd once thought of as commonplace and drab was beautiful. He was homesick and hungry, the worst combination, well maybe not, but it sure felt like it. The only thing that could take his mind off his feeling would probably be an epic battle with a dragon-like creature of some sort. That was unlikely though...

That's when he heard the grumbling roar. "Hey, what was that?" He asked, tugging on Glena's sleeve

Keys looked towards Jay, still laying down. "I think that's your stomach. Didn't you eat before we left?" He barely waited for a response to roll an apple towards Jay.

“Gee, thanks!” Jay responded forgetting all his troubles for a while at the sight of food. He took a big, crunchy, bite.

Rayvyn looked at the apple, eyes wide. "What is that?"

With juice running down his chin and a mouth full of apple flesh Jay tried to say ‘it’s an apple’ but it came out more like “oiffs am aphell!”

"Yup, that's right. It's a bomb that will blow everyone up if someone tries to eat it." Keys held out another apple to Rayvyn. "Want one?"

"Everything is strange to those who haven't seen it before."

The platform began descending through a messy mazework of girders and pipes before arriving at a stopping point. The sky was obscured by metal and the light was primarily shades of red. It was also a few degrees warmer. Glena began leading the group through a maze of tight corridors.

Fall from the sky there might not be a sky onto our platform!! Maybe that would give us some plot, finally.
