I'm probably wrong about this, but I propose that Trellium isn't truly Bavadinium, or at least not purely Bavadinium but is instead corrupted Atium or a Bavadinium/Atium alloy. There are a couple reasons I think this. First of all, Brandon has mentioned multiple times that red is the color produced by corrupted Investiture. Second, Trellium seems to be able to steal any power, Atium's Hemalurgic effect. Third, we do know their is an imbalance between Ruin and Preservation with Ruin having more unbound Investiture. Even though this seems to be mostly going towards the whole Discord thing, there was lots and lots of Atium in the Kandra Trust, so just maybe there might have been enough Ruin Investiture to siphon off to make the Trellium Spikes.

My main reason for this is that, as presented in the books, Trellium seems to be just as good if not better for Hemalurgy than Atium is which to me just feels...wrong. It's been used to steal Allomancy, Feruchemy, and whatever trait that could be put in a single Spike to make the monsters we see in Shadows of Self.

I don't think that it is better than Atium, while it seems to be able to steal any of the metallic arts, and shield the user from Harmony, I doubt it could steal other investwd arts, such as surgebinding.

I'm not sure why it wouldn't, it's already capable of stealing more than just Metallic Arts

Whatever weird trait was used to create the creatures in Shadows of Self. Bleeder used a single Trellium Spike. I don't know about you, but that doesn't strike me as a result of a stolen power, but more like twisting of physical or spiritual traits being added

It was never confirmed what spike those were. I've always assumed them to be iron or something.

It was described as silvery with a red cast to it just like Trellium, though Wax does admit it could have been just blood. The implication though is that it was Trellium

I dont' think so. First of all, if it contains Atium, Harmony should know what it is, but he didn't. Trellium repulses Harmony investiture and it shields form Harmony sight, weird thing for Atium or corrupted Atium to do. More importantly, we got spectrographic analysis of Trellium, which is just one spike in one wavelength. If it was an alloy, there would be at least two spikes, both big one for Bavadinium and Atium. The spectrograph shows that it's clearly just one metal, and it's god metal.

And there are metals that are red, like copper, so why not Bavadinium? Or its red color indicates that it contains corrupted investirue, spike's hemalurgic charge, comes from Harmony afterall, which might get corrupted after being pulled out from mistings and ferrings by Trellium spike.

I don’t think that trellium is Bavidinium, because autonomy calls it “your metal” when talking to Wax’s Sister. Aditionally, it connected to her instead of autonomy, so I believe there are at least minor differences.
