Oh, hey, look, a thing that I belong to!

I started learning the flute when I was in 6th grade, so 11 years old. Thats, um...35 years ago. xD

And yes, I can still play, though I do have a stronger proficiency on the oboe.

Anyone here play jazz flute :ph34r::ph34r:

Like Spain by Chick Corea?

Ooh, ooh! I did this! I played bass keyboard in high school jazz band, but my senior year, I managed to convince my director to let me do a solo on the flute. Got myself an Outstanding Soloist award at contest that year.

resurrecting this to say:

b melodic minor argh

agreed.

also, i’m playing Hypnosis by Ian Clarke and it is genuinely one of the most melancholy and beautiful pieces i have ever had the pleasure of playing (to be fair i’ve been playing for 6 years so that’s not really saying a lot, i’m nowhere near 35 years!)

you should totally go listen to it, it’s great

edit: i’m also playing Waltz from John Rutter’s Suite Antique which is jazz-style and really fun!

Flutes are the best but have nothing in common with saxophones and have no wood and should therefore be their own section

My daughter plays the flute, and I’ve been able to get some notes out of it. Does that make me eligible for this group?

I also play the flute! I've never been in band, but I did take lessons for a few years. Anyone else here ever break a flute by leaving it in the cold?
