I spent enough time on this to post it here as well:

Also have some process drawings, plus 11:30 PM commentary:

Spoiler

Part One: Stick figures

I'd been wanting to draw a really ambitious thing like this for ages, so I decided to start even simpler than I usually do. I tend to start with basic anatomy nowadays, but today I started with lines.

I didn't take a picture of that. That would've been weird.

Part Two: Does it work?

Start extrapolating. Fill out the stick figures.

Mercury (same pose, roughly, as above): good.

Kaeni (drawn from behind to have them being back-to-back): nooooooooooooooooooo

Part Three: Change half the drawing

Looks like this now:

Merkaeni_1.jpg.3ff80d7df8559850113310d01c0b8391.jpg

I added a rough outline of how I wanted the elements to go.

Part Four: Stop doodling and start committing

Merkaeni_2.jpg.95164fc7b44d2a9959c756dfe1a5e653.jpg

Dark lines = no (clean) erasing. Once you darken something enough you must commit.

Part Five: Colors?

I colored the characters VERY lightly after this. Blue and grey for Mercury, red and orange for Kaeni. It was barely a rub, let alone a shade. I just wanted to make sure that the colors would work maybe.

Part Six: Colors.

Started coloring in the elements. Start with fire 'cause I've done fire before. Fire goes well. Change pencil lines to red to fit my style. Lightning was easy but annoying, and I wound up re-tracing all the lines for it to make sure it popped against the fire.

Part Seven: The characters again

Merkaeni_3.jpg.b21c81524aad40cbdc0cf822b450c0ec.jpg

I actually wound up erasing a bit of the blue in Mercury's hair to give it an anime glow effect, and remembered halfway through Kaeni's pants that she was supposed to be wearing boots. You can probably tell that I didn't put too much effort into those.

Last but not least was the hands. They're small enough that I could go very minimalist, and they turned out quite aight 'cause of that.

Part Eight: Upvote this post

...I'm also curious to see you draw Ast'avi. (From the White Iron-Reapers RP.)

All the relevant information should be in her character description.

Hi! Could you please try to draw Il'anque? Everything should be in her character bio. Thanks!

The lass! You said “patterns of brown and green,” and I swear I tried that - it just proved to be quite unrealistic, so I decided to lighten my workload a little.

Wow! That's exactly how I imagine her! Thank you so much!

-_-

I should have replied to this sooner...

Great job! Looks really good.

Thanks for putting up with my request.

Well, they are humanoid. Each is distinctly a given element. One is made of rushing water, another from blowing air. one is made of flames, with different colors giving it features. the shadow and light ones are very generic, and the shadow one is very like the torivers in Beyonders. They just have different intensities of darkness and white light creating their features. the earth one is like a golem, made up of dirt, stone, mud, and various vines woven throughout. the face is made of stone and dirt, with cracks that open up for the mouth. the eyes are made of gemstones.

So, I tend to admire things from afar...

Your art is super good. It's not bad, and I wish I could shade as well as you! You're really good at figures, and your proportions always seem pretty much perfect. Great job!

Also, do you want to draw Gone?

He's scrawny, and he has platinum-blond hair. He's about seven, and he has big eyes(but not freakish). Oh. and he's dressed in colorful rags. He might also be bear-crawling, if you want.

And don't you dare do it if you don't feel like it.
