“First,” she said, holding up one finger. “My name is Clanda. Second,” she said, holding up another finger, “I don’t know who you are but you certainly seem to think you’re something. Third,” holding up a final third finger, “I don’t think you understand what danger is. Danger is where you almost die. Danger is where you annoy powerful people. You were just in danger, and not only that, you walked into it.” She gave a small smile, twisting a strand if her hair in her fingers (not in a ditzy way, but thoughtfully). “I am a ‘world-class meddler’, though I would say it in the condescending tone you used. I wonder, since you’re clearly looking for the most expensive place there is to stay, why you didn’t choose to pay the man’s debt. You have the money. Yet you’d rather spend it on... a Lavish Lodge? I’m afraid I don’t know the directions. I’ve just arrived.”

She took a deep breath, lowering her voice. “Look, I’m sorry if I’ve been rude. I’m like that. I do appreciate your wit. Most people could use a bit more of it. Anyway... it could be because I’m paranoid, but there’s something off about the man—the one who was threatening you. I don’t like him...”

Nedwin walked along besides Clanda. He would turn his life around for the better, he would. He might not be able to make it into the academy but maybe he could at least return enough money to his parents to make up his debt.He had fully understood what the woman had said, and had been somewhat indignant at the comment on gambling. She seemed good enough"good lady, you wouldnt happen to be in need of a squire".(By the way, im not sure what i was thinking making my character inebriated, as now he cant interact with other characters meaningfully, is there any magic that could be used to counteract my drunkeness) Nedwin was lazy yes, but he had quite the silver tounge, how else could he convince other people to do his work for him. "ill work for nothing to start. I have knowledge of magic and a fair ammount of raw potential."

Clanda blinked, surprised. "Uh... yeah, I could use a squire! But, I can't just pay you nothing... Well, i'll see what I can do. But for now, you're hired!" She exclaimed with a smile. "What kind of magic do you do? Also... what’s your name?"

Clanda grinned at the person she has just saved. “Nice to meet you. I’m Clanda. And you shouldn’t gamble, because then you lose money’s nd end up in situations like this.” She gave a little nod, and then  cackled quietly to herself as she saw the uppity-looking man go over to the table where the other man (the gross, uncivilized one) sat and strike up a (clearly insulting) conversation. Maybe she would join in, and have a little fun herself. She walked up with an innocent expression on her face. “Oh, I just wanted to come over here and say hello, lovely to meet you all!” She gave a small, pretty smile, and then feigned shock. “Are you- are you going to fight? Oh, please don’t good sirs. Fighting is simply the most brutal thing on this planet, isn’t it! No matter the outcome, you’d all get hurt and we wouldn’t want that, would we? In the world we live in, there are just some atrocious things that simply shouldn’t be here, wouldn’t you agree? The ickiness of blood is one of them, not including other things in the room, of course. Besides, isn’t fighting not supposed to occur here? This is a city! We are supposed to party! To laugh! Now, what do you say we leave all this behind us?” Clanda internally smiled. Hopefully they were as dull as they looked and don’t understand she’d just insulted them. Most people when confronted with that many words, regardless of... innate intelligence (which they didn’t appear to have), would simply blink and sit down. She gave the smallest of winks to the other man, and then turned back to see the other men’s reactions.

The man with the dagger glared at Clanda and Caelus as they walked away, his two companions still staring into their drinks.

Caelus let the woman pull him away from the men, but not before throwing them a final dazzling smile. "So what's your deal?" he asked the woman. "I saw you help that man earlier...you seem to be a world class meddler." He grinned as if he'd cracked an intensely witty remark. "Say, you know where the Lavish Lodge is?"

@Shining Silhouette, the lavish lodge is a place that would exist, probably in the Air Hextant near the Light Hextant. It is where the bigheaded and self important go, so it is fake-fancy.

there is magic that can do that, most healers can purge the body of toxins. Fire magic might be able to do it, though that would be dangerous. (side note - it is more dangerous for fire magic users to imbibe alcohol than others, as they are already closer to flame.) he could purge himself of the alcohol enough to have a coherent conversation, but that would take a few minutes and be very painful(fire in the veins)

Kinda hard to have a squire when you are in school.

Important scene:

The man with the poisoned knife, who was irritatingly named Guy Grantum, came to a decision. He expertly threw the knife, cutting Caelus in the arm, and hitting Rith in the thigh just above the knee. Most of the patrons did not notice, as there were often knife-throwing contests in the bar.

BTW, the poison is a fast-acting paralyzer that lasts 24 hours and is effective within 5 to 10 seconds. @Shining Silhouette, and @The Unknown Novel primarily. Also, @The Unknown Novel, do you want to have Is meet Lysan?

How noticeable is the poison? Would cauterization stop it?

no, it acts too fast. You don't notice it until you freeze. You will be able to blink and breath.

Chasm walked into the bar, bringing her own personal breeze with her. She glanced around, then walked over to the table with the drunk card players (one no longer holding his knife). "What're you playing?"

I would like to attempt to purge the fire from my system(if not her squire could I choose an assistant or other such role, dont worry my character isnt likely to be particullarly helpful.)

You may purge the alcohol from your system, it is extraordinarily painful.

Would it be possible for Clanda to use Changing 1 to try to change the poison into something less... lethal, once she sees the dagger and the effects?

Also lol yeah maybe not a squire but we can probably do something of the sort

It's not lethal. You can breath, blink, and your heart beats. That would be unwise without knowing the poison, and your character does not know enough to do that. Some sort of helper would be fine.

Hoid got drunk and almost shanked, then Shining saved him, them Emulaton killed us. Except not really.

no, Symph saved Hoid. Caelus antagonized the man with the knife, so he threw said knife at Shining's character, and Rith accidentally got hit.

Your character will be paralyzed. I told you what the poison did so you knew how to write a scene for it.

Rith winced and grabbed the cut. He tried to call fire to cauterize the cut, but it slipped away from as his head started to swim. He tried to call for help, but barely a croak came out as he fell to the ground, halfway through the bar door.

The bartender sighed. He turned to Cherry(@Channelknight Fadran) . "I have to go take those two into a back room. If Guy paralyzes someone again, I'm going to have to ban him from this establishment." He walked strait through the bar and gathered Rith and Caelus, slung them over his broad shoulders, then carried them through the back wall of the tavern.

I don't remember exactly, but I've played it before and remember some of it (including the king/scum relationship part). Also, I might know a place I can look it up, if you want to roleplay us playing.

Chasm picked up her cards and organized them.

We shall roleplay the playing of scum, because tangents. Also, they are gambling, so winner gets the pot, to which you contributed one Fent. Scum must play one more Fent to winner.

Your cards: 4s, 6d, 6s, 6c, 7d, 7c, 8c, 8h, 9c, 10c, Qc, Ah, Red Joker(Ace equivalent value.)
