On the edge of the business district in the Alleycity is a large office building, no one is particularly sure of its size. The top of the building is obscured in a multicolored cloud, not unlike a fog cloud that shimmers like a mirage, and anyone that has tried to walk to the top loses count on the way up and gets waylaid as they go. The building itself is a fairly standard office in design, but it seems to be in the process of deconstruction, with doors enlarged and the lower windows broken and repaired with any materials possible. The entire block leading up to the building has been abandoned, not because of the look of the building, but the rhythmic thumping coming from the building around the clock. The windows of this building are constantly flashing and shaking in time with the beat of the music. Entering the building you immediately are bombarded with the sweet smell of a ransacked table covered in platters of cookies, constantly being replenished by a flow of department staff.  The sweet smell of pastries is in full war with the other smells, coming from the mass of jumping, moshing, dancing, sweating bodies, coming from the floor and the ceiling. The room is coated in a light fog coming from the DJ booth, with a set of covering the entire back wall of the room and wrapping around the corner to the next wall. The DJ himself, a tall man, with sharp hawk-like features standing behind the fog machines and flashing lights, just working with his mixing table and discs to create the soundtrack for the party. The pale lines on his arms flashing in the changing lights of the rave, His light blond hair shaking every time the bass hits. Each floor of the building is much the same minus the DJ, rows of speakers, tables everywhere with all kinds of confections and bowls of metal powder and an impossibly large amount of people. To accommodate a party of this size the interior walls of the building were removed, although not by a contractor, just by the party goers as the party got too big for the space it was inhabiting. At one point the elevator was broken by the rave and removed along with the walls, but the shaft was kept as a means of transport. The walls having their own gravity that everyone can walk on, the same method that allows the party to extend to the ceilings of the building. Coming in and taking the sights of this place in is a shock to the senses but a welcome one.

Welcome to the DA Departyment.

Outside the Departyment building, Adren waited for the rest to arrive. In his head a high pitched voice was practically screaming, Mercy was so excited to finally be allowed to visit the Departyment and Jethro was less thrilled, but didn't want to miss anything funny that may happen.

"I don't know why you would never let me come and party. You didn't even need to take me. I could have gone with anyone, but you wouldn't take me out of your ear, just for one night. There are plenty of nice people, like the ones we're waiting for."  Mercy trilled into Adren's skull and anyone around who was willing to listen to her.
"Why don't we be a little quieter and then we can be loud when we go into the party"

Laurelai ran a last, nervous hand over her hip before moving through the doors and into the venue. She was still not entirely comfortable with these Earth fashions, this dress was much shorter and hugged her body much closer than her usual dresses did. But it was what was most appropriate for this kind of event, and she'd already Forged her hair up into a carefully styled but seemingly messy bun.

"Here's hoping that this one lasts longer than they usually do." She said, uttering a quick prayer to whatever Shard or eldritch horror might hear her. Parties in the Alleyverse had a tendency to be short lived, but perhaps due to the guest list this one might last a little longer.

Moving into the building took a moment of adjustment as a cascade of lights and sounds assaulted her, for once making her thankful rather than regretful that she did not possess the same enhanced senses that her friend Lita did. After a minute to acclimate to this strange environment Laurelai listened to the music and let it slowly guide her across the floor towards a bar, it was perhaps not as well organized as Scadrian ball music, but it had a certain charm of its own and she quickly found herself smiling as she looked towards the bartender.

"Just a Spritz to start with." She said, smiling at the young woman who gave a short nod and returned the smile. She seemed to be genuinely enjoying herself rather than just giving a polite service smile, and didn't seem overworked. But then, the evening was still young.

"Anything else?" The young woman asked, sliding the glass of light red liquid over to her.

Laurelai gave another smile and a small shake of her head, perhaps later she'd move onto something a little stronger but for now she needed to see who else was in attendance.

Lita ducked out of a nearby Alley, the heels of her boots clicking softly against the cobbles. She could feel the reverberation from the building across the way through the soles of her feet, and she cautiously lowered her Tin to a whisper of a burn. It felt odd letting her usual edge slip away, but she’d be no use to anyone if she allowed the growling, bass-heavy music to literally split her eardrums.
She idly wondered what Laurelai would be wearing, and entertained a brief vision of her friend in a full ball gown, frowning at all the scantily clad dancers. But then, that wasn’t like Laurelai. She’d blend in perfectly, wearing something so ideally calculated that even Lita might have trouble finding her. Luckily, her white-blond hair was a rarity even in a city this big.

Lita crossed the street, pausing at the curb to take a final inventory of her own outfit. She had a few metal vials tucked into the tops of her boots, which slid over her knees and left about six inches of thigh visible before the view was interrupted by a tight gold skirt and matching halter top. Her hair brushed across the small of her back, done up in two long auburn braids that swung with each turn of her head. In the low light, it was just possible to catch the glint off a steel spike in her right side. Lita grinned. It was a rarity to get to show off, but this was a company party after all.

She pushed open the door and slipped in, immediately grateful that she’d lowered her Tin. Even still, she had to take a moment to acclimate to the riot of sensation around her. She passed through the crowd with ease, stepping through spaces no one else noticed, and ordered a simple gin and tonic at the bar. Out of habit, she took a little envelope of tin and pewter powder from her boot and poured it into the drink, stirring absently as she scoured the crowd. Not too many familiar faces yet, but the night was young. She wondered if anyone particularly interesting would show up. Lita took a sip, smiling at the quality of the liquor, then her smile widened. She had spotted her quarry.

Laurelai looked as expected, with the perfect amount of undone ease in her hair and dress. It would have been infuriating if Lita didn’t know just how much she’d likely agonized over it.

”I didn’t think you owned anything that was cut above the knee,” Lita said, smiling wryly and taking another sip of her drink. “It’s good to know I can still be surprised.”

Demaren stumped along, followed by a small cart tied by a rope to his belt. He had managed to scrape together some parts and make gravatonics, so the cart moved easily and he did not have to worry about dragging it along. He grunted as he nearly fell, even with a wider base it was hard to balance with only a leg and a cane. He would have made a peg leg for himself, but that would be less effective when he needed a knee. He was working on a prosthetic, but he didn't have all of the materials he needed to make it yet. He didn't trust the people who had hired him to make these party supplies, but he had made sure to get payment up front, and he would make good on his word. No use having a shop if people didn't trust you to deliver what you promised. His hirees had seemed interested in further items, but he had to reserve judgement. They seemed to be very well organized, and that made him trust them even less. He made his way to a side door, and a guard let him in to the thumping building.

"Could use your help getting this in the back so I can set this stuff up," Demaren grunted to the dispassionate guard. The guard examined him for a moment, eyes straying to the missing leg, then sighed and started to push the cart to the backstage area where the items would be set up. Demaren followed him, wary of uneven floorboards. Once they reached the backstage area, the guard left for his position. Demaren sighed, then opened the top of the cart. Inside were several strobe-laser lights, which used half the energy of normal ones, a levitating disco ball, and a drinks dispenser. He set up and plugged in the lights, and started the disco ball hovering. The workers at this building would install the drinks dispenser, it was normal enough, especially with the instructions. He closed the cart back up, and pulled a lever on the side. The empty shell collapsed into a dense metal cube with gravatonics on the bottom, which he activated so he could carry it, then put in his pocket. He left quietly the way he had come, happy to be done.
