Knight of Iron she/they Posted May 17, 2022 Author Posted May 17, 2022 Quote Let me first finally introduce my actual character (no, Thorin in the OP was just an example). Name: Tessa Twilight Age: Sixteen (16) Race: Human (draconic ancestry, distant) Magic: Mind harvesting (color; a purplish navy blue) Dragon/Other Pet: None currently, but soon to be a coral pink dragonscale Worst Fear: Thunderstorms and any indication of it Appearance: Long, curly hair the color of a starry night (bluish indigo), with some magenta-pinkish highlights. Thick, roundish black frames for her glasses. Lighter skin with very faint scaly designs, only visible if you look closely enough. She has the same bluish purple colored eyes. 5' 7" (170cm). Details/Backstory: She's been raised in Laxis all her life, in a little farming town not too far away, by her mother. She's worked hard to get into Greatowl University all her life, dreaming of learning mind-harvesting so that she can become a journalist. Personality: She's fairly open-minded, neat and organized, insecure, anxious, and she prefers a quiet room where she can read some YA fiction get back to her studies. Skills: Reading, writing, and is skilled with all the programs and games on her laptop. She likes solving puzzles, drawing, and watching animated shows. Tessa Twilight slung her bookbag over her shoulder and slammed the car's trunk shut. Both of her hands grabbed the handle of a suitcase, and she began rolling them off the bumpy, uneven asphalt onto the smooth concrete sidewalk that lead into campus, where it became a shiny white brick pathway that curved and looped around the many buildings. Two large, square stone pillars stood straight in front of her on either side of the pathway, with intricately carved owls on each face, connected on the top by a heavy arch that cast a shadow onto the path beneath. As Tessa read the arch's inscription, her heart leaped. GREATOWL UNIVERSITY WISDOM, TRUTH, POWER. She still couldn't believe it. She'd made it! Her studies had paid off, and it was finally time to learn mind-harvesting—not just from anyone, but from the esteemed Greatowl University, centered in the heart of New Zemel. It was a dream come true. "Tessa!" Mother shouted from the front seat. "You forgot something!" Tessa blinked. Right. Moving in. With... other people. She left her suitcases on the sidewalk and walked around to find Mother with her pillow. "Oh, Tessa," Mother said softly as Tessa moved in closer. "You sure you don't need help carrying all this in? Finding your room? Making friends? I'm sure I could—" "Mother," she interrupted. "I'll be alright. I can handle myself." "Are you sure?" Mother said, "I don't want you to have to be lonely." Tessa stepped forward and threw herself around her mother, wrapping her into a tight hug. "I'm going to miss you..." Mother whispered. "I'm going to miss you, too." They held each other for what seemed like forever, but somehow not enough, until Mother patted her on the back and pulled out of the hug, and handed her the pillow. "Be sure to call, please." Tessa held up her flip phone. "I will." Mother nodded, and Tessa grabbed her suitcases, pillow tucked under her arm, and strode under the archway into Greatowl University, headed towards her dormitory—Silk Hall. Quote Alright, let's get this started. So, y'all can start off with arriving at the University and getting moved in and stuff. The campus grounds are pretty fancy, as this is an esteemed university. It's also interesting because there's a small castle-stronghold-tower thing ripped straight from the Middle Ages at the centerpiece of it all, but then there are six dormitories (three for women, three for men—if you're character isn't any of those than feel free to choose wherever, it doesn't matter, I'm just ripping this from my own experience) that look and function exactly like modern-day apartment buildings. Each of your characters has a Student ID card with their info and stuff on it that they have to swipe to get into the building, and then swipe again to get into their rooms. No keys (as those can be easily duplicated via magical means). Dorms and Roommates: (Oh, And Pets Too) Spoiler Male/Other 1. Redwald Hall 2. Ignatius Hall 3. Winsley Hall Female/Other 1. Sevil Hall 2. Koralai Hall 3. Silk Hall Choose whichever building you want your character to be in, doesn't matter. There's a common room on the bottom floor, and a total of five floors (one elevator and a set of stairs, of course). As for roommates, there are a total of two people in each "apartment", and it doesn't really matter who the other person is. You can just say "roommate," or not even mention them if you want. Alternatively, if you and another member of the RP are able to be in the same building, feel free to be roommates with each other. Dragons, of course, are of various sizes, depending on their age. Most of y'alls will be little puppy size. Baby dragons. Their basic care includes stuff like "dragon food" that is sold, maybe a few toys, stuff to keep their tooth and scales clean. They sleep in little portable cages—which they actually enjoy, because evolutionary speaking they tend to like having their own cave. They also like to collect little hoards of household objects. Move in your dragons (or other pets) as you will, accordingly. Half dormitory, half castle. @Channelknight Fadran, @Isabelle6060, @Trutharchivist, @The Unknown Novel
DramaQueen she/he/neopronouns Posted May 17, 2022 Posted May 17, 2022 (edited) Quote Okay I've decided I wanna join. Question: what animals exist? Like could I have a pet phoenix or a jackalope or another magical creature besides a dragon? Edited May 17, 2022 by DramaQueen

So, y'all can start off with arriving at the University and getting moved in and stuff. Ben stepped out of the car, closed the door behind him and took his suitcase out of the trunk. His father opened the window and said: "Don't forget to tell us how you settled here. Have a good time, learn well and make new friends." "I will." Replied Ben, already starting to walk toward the university. "Goodbye!" "Goodbye!" Said his father, closed the window and drove away. Ben stopped before the gates to the campus, taking the sight in. The university, he knew, was founded by Sod Owlson, who was of Wanderer descent. Specifically, he was an Owlson, of those focused in collecting knowledge. Even after the animals which they resembled meant nearly nothing, the Wanderers remembered and presented them: owl faces, signs of wisdom and knowledge, were engraved to the pillars of the gate. Ben realized with a start that he stood there for too long. He blushed a little and went on, looking around him with a smile on his face. The campus was beautiful, including the buildings with the wonderful union of old and new, the grass, the trees and the ponds. When he was close to the dormitories, Ben stopped and pulled his student card out of his pocket. It said he was stationed in Ignatius hall, room number 305. He went there. Apparently, it was on the second floor. He lifted the suitcase up the stairs, found his room, and placed his suitcase on the bed to the right from the door. He then sat on the bed, shot a quick look on his watch, pulled a history book from his suitcase and started reading. He was the first to arrive at the room. Edited May 20, 2022 by Trutharchivist Sneakily fixing what could've become a continuity error. Plus, I think a logical numbering system for the dorms can be built.

Unicorns or pegasi probably as well, but super rare and not something you could bring to college. "Which dormitory have you selected Mistress?" Instance glanced at him. "Korolai. Named after my grandmother. Means Fate or something in High Elfin." Mother kept trying to teach her that, but it was just the right combination of boring and complicated to be impossible to learn. Just like modern Elfish, but more complicated. Instance handed Genoro her room key. "Drop those off while I say goodbye to my mother." He nodded, and walked away to do as she had asked. Instance then turned to say goodbye to her mother, only to find the limo already driving off. Just like her. Oh well, might as well find out who she would be stuck with for the rest of the year. DramaQueen she/he/neopronouns Posted May 17, 2022 Posted May 17, 2022 Quote Alright, here's my character! Spoiler Name: Tuncay (it means bronze moon hehe) Age: 16 Pronouns: he/they Race: Draconic Human Magic: Mind Harvesting Dragon/Other Pet: Jackalope named Aspen Worst Fear: having a good friend and then being abandoned by them Appearance: choppy brown hair with a shinier bronze streak along one side. He wears rectangular glasses, mostly to cover some bronze scales on the sides of his nose, though he *is* slightly nearsighted. He also has scales under his hair and down his back. Details/Backstory: He has always loved learning, and the idea of learning magic made him determined to get into Greatowl--no matter what. He debated between Enchanting and Mind Harvesting for a while, but eventually decided that Mind Harvesting would be more of a challenge, since anyone can Enchant. Plus....bonding with a lost memory/shade sounded WAY cool. Personality: Super shy, super nerdy, a straight-A student cuz he never really does anything else besides study. At first he seems really reserved and quiet, but once you get to know him, you see a whole new side of him: he's energetic, loves talking about all his interests, and is really easy to get along with. Skills: studying is pretty much all he does...oh, but he does love all kinds of music. He's also an incredible listener. 1
Knight of Iron she/they Posted May 18, 2022 Author Posted May 18, 2022 Tessa swung open the door to Room 17 of Silk Hall. A small, bare apartment, yes, but at least it was somewhat furnished. She rolled both her suitcases into one of the tiny bedrooms and tossed her pillow onto the bed, then sat down on the ground and began unpacking her things, one by one. Blanket, alarm clock, towels, toiletries, clothes. Notebooks, pens, her favorite novel. A small framed picture of her with her mother, which she displayed on the dresser. She hadn't been able to take as much stuff as she wanted. She'd have to buy some things anew if she wanted to have them. And oh, heavens, a dragon... she'd been looking forward to being old enough to get one of her own for a long time. She stepped out into the main room, unpacking and starting to organize various kitchen utensils. Quote If some girl wants to be her roommate in Silk Hall y'all can walk right in. This dorm stuff is all just for introducing characters basically, the content will really start the next day, which is the orientation day. 18 hours ago, DramaQueen said: Alright, here's my character! +JesterLavorre she/they Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Quote Character: Spoiler Name: Sylvia Rhombus Age: 16 Race: Human Magic: Mind Harvesting Dragon/Other Pet: N/A Worst Fear: Fear of being helpless or in a situation she cannot control Appearance: 5' 9" (180 cm). Brown hair, Yellow eyes, thin build but looks athletic. Details/Backstory: She comes from an unreliable family situation that reinforced her desire for control. Her mother sent her to a relatively wealthy private school so she wouldn’t have to deal with her for most of the day. Sylvia was very happy there when in the library reading and not very happy the rest of the time. This made her very eager to accept a admittance to greatowl university, where she is convinced only the most upstanding students attend. Personality: She likes to have things be ordered and in control. If everyone would just act logically, everyone would be happier. Contrary to this, she is very nervous and easily panicked by deviations from the norm. This has led to teasing and bullying in her previous schools, which is why she learned martial arts to defend herself. It only helped a little. She also hates breaking rules. Skills: Not very good at her magic. She can fence and practices martial arts, however. Also a very diligent reader and studier, with knowledge from across many fields. Let me know if anyone wants to be Sylvia’s roommate! I’ll write her introduction in a bit.

Eluvianii he/him Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Quote Dang, lots of mind harvesters already. Well, Enchanting sounds fun, and Fumeweaving too. Is this ok? Spoiler Name: Ilia Stillwater Age: 17 Race: Draconic Magic: Enchanting Dragon/Other Pet: A mouse with wings named Pinky Worst Fear: Complete loneliness Appearance: 156cm, 5'. She has lavender hair she keeps loose at a little below shoulder length, with a braid going around it. Pointy ears and nails, though she tries to keep the latter short. Her wardrobe is a mix of clothes on the more girly/classy side and t-shirts/accessories of her favorite shows and games. This because of a continuous clash between what her family buys for her and what she actually likes to wear. Details/Backstory: Growing up in the suburbs she always liked all the gadgets her heroes used in the animated shows she liked (scared to get too specific here), and connected the dots that it might be done in real life by Enchanting things. It was more of a childish fascination with the subject than actual practical interest and she wasn't the studious type so she didn't actually do any research on them. But when it was time to decide what she wanted to do with her life suddenly that interest was reborn with renewed strength, and she started studying until she managed to be accepted at the University, although a year later than most. Personality: She spends way too much time watching tv and playing games, fairly outgoing in small groups but keeps to herself in larger ones. Puts everything off until the last minute. Skills: She's a fast learner when she applies herself, though most of the time she doesn't.

Emery the Steelrunner he/him Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Jared got off of the bus early in the morning. It was so early that the sun had yet to rise. The lack of light made it difficult to see, and the dark sunglasses he was wearing didn’t exactly help him. He grabbed his luggage from off the rack, and thanked the driver as he got off. “So this is Greatowl University.” He said looking up at the ornate archway proclaiming the school and its key principles. He walked across the campus dragging his suitcase behind him while looking for the correct dormitory. He eventually found what he thought was the right one, but he couldn’t fully make sign above the door. He went in and saw a person sitting on a couch doodling and greeted him. “Hi, I’m Jared. Do you know if I’m in the right place?” @Channelknight Fadran Quote @Trutharchivist, sure we can be roommates.
