Do elaborate. I'm not well-versed in all the rumors, so I'm curious.

Well there have been a few things, but here are some of the big ones.

Actors trying to get sex scenes included. The dwarf woman does not have a beard. Offical accounts attacking fans for pointing out contradictions to the lore. Stuff like that.

Why do they have to do this. Ugh. Just... ugh.

If I had to guess it's that they want to be Game of Thrones.

All I heard was that they'd hired an intimacy supervisor, which could mean anything.

I can't confirm it will happen, but after what happend with Wheel of Time I don't have much hope.

The odds that it'll turn out like another generic fantasy show are higher than I would've hoped, I agree--but given that we only have one minute of a teaser trailer, I don't want to form too hard of an opinion at this point.

Fair.

Want to speculate on plot points?

So this takes place in the second age, Why they didn't choose to adapt the first age is beyond me, but it is what it is.

It's called rings of power so it's probably going to be the downfall of numenor.

The opening shot is probably of Numenor, but the MC seems to be a younger Galadriel

Possible, here would be my ideal play out.

Start with a Bilbo voice over, recapping the LotR movies with a focus on Gondor, and then indroducing Numenor as the place Elendil cam from.

Season one is the one prince of Numenor who like ships(Can't remember his name), Gil-Galad and Cirdan, maybe some others, adventuring encountering problems, and so on. Anatar being Sauron should be open to the veiwer from the start, but the characters don't know and the ending is Sauron forging the One Ring.

Season 2 the the first war of the ring, ending with Ar-Pharazon taking Sauron prisoner, with Season three being the Downfall of Numenor.

All I want is the War of Angmar but that's not until early-ish Third Age so we probably won't get it

I really do not know why they chose the second age, the War of Angmar, the War of Wrath, The Fall of Gondolin, Dagor Dagoroth. Really most anything else would have been better.

I am a huge fan of Tolkien and his work. I have played the LOTR battle game and many computer games. I read both The Hobbit and the LOTR before the screening (which was wonderful, I mean LOTR not Hobbit).
But I'm afraid this series will annoy me, they've already changed a few characters and their attitude. I'm skipping some funny things like the skin color of elves and dwarves, but no beard on dwarven women !?
They hired a separate sex scene specialist
I'm afraid it will be a failure like The Witcher, I prefer to be disappointed positively

I literally watched the Super Bowl for this, and then made my whole group be amused at me when it started and I knew what it was for based on the design of the Amazon logo... #noregerts

I'm hyped!  I've already made the decision to essentially ignore everything on the Internet until at least September, and maybe after.  I'm a little hesitant on some of the original characters, and the casting for Elrond, but again, we've gotten a couple stills and like, fifty seconds of scenes.  That's not enough for me to really decide what I think.  Admittedly my problem with the Elrond casting is what they've done with his hair, which I can accept if they offer some sort of explanation, maybe something to do with his Mannish heritage?

The hair on the elves we've seen so far in general I'm not sure about.  I'm really hoping we get some long-haired elves with pretty braids, but again, so far, not much material to go off of.

The costumes look pretty good, especially for Gil-Galad, or who I think he is (0:36).  The plot, we'll see.  Hopefully future trailers will help clear that up a little.  The rating.... I really want to watch this, so I'm really hoping they keep it PG-13, or I might not get to.

And hey, the books are still the same, no matter how the show turns out.  But I'm excited!
