Sait breathed out deeply, letting his consciousness separate from his awareness, making note of each stimulus without analyzing it. He could feel the barest tingle of something at the very edge of his perception, and he instinctively pushed gently against it, trying to assimilate it into his own knowledge.

"Erase your outer awarenesses." Lina said. "Narrow your visions."

Lina's advice went unheard with Sait's First Sight closed, but Sait was already doing as she instructed, isolating the tiny tingle and focusing the whole of himself on perceiving it.

I don't really know what's going on right now. I've only read the first couple pages, and it sounds interesting. Could I possibly join? And if so, can someone help me catch up on the plot and exactly how the magic systems work?

Spoiler

Name: Avross Vinror

Pronouns: he/him

Age: 21

Nationality: Born in Eltier, but has lived in Arcalla for as long as he can remember.

Appearance: Medium length red hair, teal eyes, and olive-tinted skin with freckles. He currently stands at 5'11". He usually wears casual clothing and would never be caught dead in a suit and tie.

Personality: Unnecessarily reckless, but very determined and hardworking when the need arises. In general, he goes solo (lone ranger type), but if he can find some people that earn his trust, he'll risk his life to save them.

Profession: His family has a woodworking shop, and he was trained there since birth, so he knows the trade. He avoids this job as much as possible, preferring to hunt out in the woods.

Other Stuff: He is an expert archer, with unnaturally sharp eyes for a human (are we even humans in this RP?). He unconsciously uses magic of both Sound and Light without knowing what he's doing. He loves heights, and feels much more at home in nature than he ever felt before while surrounded by civilization. He ran away from his family when they started forcing him to abandon his life and commit the rest of his life to something uninteresting.

(I can add more, but that's what I came up with so far)

You can definitely join! The more the merrier!

There're lotsa different magic systems in this world. We've figured out two so far - Elemental manipulation, which lets you manipulate Light, Sound, Heat and Spirit (the latter being powerful but ill-defined at the moment) and Alchemy, which lets you create magical concoctions and gadgets.

What's happened so far:

Tip, Velen's assassin apprentice, was late for a job, so he decided to just do it without Velen. This had predictably disastrous results and led to Tip getting captured. Fortunately, Velen rescued him, but then they decided to lock him in the manor they were in, where lots of angry guards were chasing after them. Velen escaped and went to do some witty banter with Khusa, and they both have inflated egos, so it's pretty funny. Khusa convinces (read: threatens) Velen to come with him to his office. They do so.

Meanwhile, Tip escapes.

Meanwhile meanwhile, Sait and Lina are talking about magic stuffs. They might be coming up with more magic systems but I've mostly just been skimming their posts so I can't tell you much about that.

How does the Elemental Manipulation work? (i.e. if you are using Sound magic, is it basically just a ventriloquist act?)

Magic works... in the way that magic works. Magic do as magic do.

(Translate the dialect of confused TUA)

Do whatever you want, this is a fairly soft magic system.

As far as we've gotten, there are four elements, sound, light, heat, and spirit. Heat is fairly unused at this point. Light could probably explain better sight. What light is really good at is illusions, but it could also be used to see in the dark. Sound has been used for redirecting and muting sound. It could also probably create sound, although that isn't what my character (another light and sound user) does because he just can't do that. Better hearing is possible, as well as potentially shattering glass (and maybe other things but that isn't as dramatic in the real world, but still possible). Heat is pretty obvious. It also involves the absence of heat, so cooling things down and heating them up. Spirit is... insane.

Edit: I've been using it in  a way that would allow that, but the all of the above things are also possible.

I probably have the improved senses (including darkvision) and minor illusions. Nothing too major to start out with.

I’m glad this is taking off! The world is a result of like three hours of collaborative worldbuilding with my friend, so it’s nice to see life breathed into it. :D

I'm sure Velen would appreciate it. That could bring your stories together. Of you could throw it at a random statue on the roof that Tip happened to be hiding behind.

I just realized that I joined half a week before I go on vacation... I should probably hold off on officially joining until January.

As Velen followed Khusa, they heard a faint crash coming from the Espara manor. Good, they thought. I was hoping he wouldn’t die in there.

“That better not be your friend,” Khusa hissed, bobbing and weaving through people. He reached the front door to his office building, then gestured for him to go in.

*them (I do it all the time, it's cool)

Velen ignored him, walking inside.

I think Syn's having a hard time right now... Do you think she'd mind if someone filled in for Khusa?

I’m always under the impression that people shouldn’t mess with other people’s ocs, but I think that’s just my logic.

After closing the door, Khusa led them up the stairs and to his office. He passed by his secretary and gave her his coat and a wink. She looked exasperated while glancing at the newcomer for a second, then back at Khusa with a raised eyebrow.

“Found ‘em on my walk and wanted to talk business,” he explained, grasping her hand. “Go and fetch me those papers while I talk with them. Oh, and sometime while doing that, try and get some of my contacts in the authorities so I can sort some things out with them.”

She smirked smugly, taking her hand away from his. “Yes, sir,” she said, going to do as he asked.

Khusa then gestured towards his office, opening the door for Velen.
