She opened her eyes. "Hello. I, ahh... I think I neglected to ask your name."

"I am Sait. I do not know your name either."

"I shall, then,  Lina," Sait replied, mentally noting down her name. "I am intrigued by your use of the arcane sciences. I hope that you will be able to assist me in furthering my own knowledge."

Velen met Khusa’s gaze. For all his cold, glaring stares and counterfeit smiles, they could tell Khusa wasn’t all he was trying to imply.

And that was because he’d made a fatal mistake.

Underestimating Velen.

“I’m clear.”

Khusa searched their gaze again, visibly thinking, but he quickly turned away and motioned to follow.

Velen followed him out of the manor and into the winding streets of rich Arcalla.

"I most likely can. I've been studying it for... quite a long time, now." She smiled. "So what is it that you want assistance with?"

"At the moment, I am seeking to open my perception to magical energy. I hope that if you provide a concentrated point of arcane potential it will be easier to focus on and identify."

"I should have explained myself better. I am attempting to open my Fourth Sight, which will allow me to perceive and interpret all forms of arcane energy. I am simply asking that you concentrate enough magical energy within a small area to provide a point of focus so that I might more quickly isolate it. I think this exercise will be useful in my pursuit."

A sphere of golden light suddenly appeared in front of the two of them, hovering a few feet above the ground.

"Incredible. Thank you for this opportunity." Sait sat down, closing his First Sight and attempting to isolate the globe from everything else.

Sait breathed out deeply, letting his consciousness separate from his awareness, making note of each stimulus without analyzing it. He could feel the barest tingle of something at the very edge of his perception, and he instinctively pushed gently against it, trying to assimilate it into his own knowledge.

The Epicenter shuddered as such energy was gathered in one spot. This was not natural, but the planet seemed to have gotten used to it. It's guardian did not wish to intervene, but it would, if necessary.

I'm back.

Tip looked at the window in shock for a moment. How could Verin do that? It's my fault. Should have expected that from them. That son of a moonwalker. Or would it be child? No matter. Tip reached for his knives and grabbed one to break the window. He lifted his arm up, then reflexively dodged to the side as guards burst through the door, spilling into the room. Tip felt a swell of power, then went blind. He couldn't see anything. Tip fell to the floor, clawing at his eyes, trying to take whatever was covering them off. "He's not here cap'n. He must've left 'ready."

A clipped and accented voice sounded. "Impossible. The window cannot be opened, look, it is broken. He must of hidden somewhere. Search the room." Footsteps walked out, the sound somehow magnified.

"You heard 'im boys. Get to work." Tip scrambled up blindly and felt for the window. There had been nothing there, so no reason to for them to look, right? Tip sat there stock still for almost half an hour before he heard the door close signaling their departure. Tip cut off the flow of energy, then fell to the floor spasming for a moment. Quickly, he allowed some flow. Shakily, he rose, grabbed his knife and shattered the window. He winced at the crash. Should have silenced that. Careful not to cut himself he climbed out and stepped to the side as the door crashed again. Voices called. Tip, luckily, kept silent and off to the side until the voices abated once again. Finally, Tip slipped away into the darkness.
