Honorless

Question

Thanks to Sak, we know that birds not native to the Pantheon can also become Aviar

Thanks to Mraize, we know that people not native to First of the Sun can Bond AvIar

We know from this WoB, that Kandra in the guise of a bird cannot become an Aviar:

Questioner

If a kandra imitated an Aviar and went and got the parasite, would it be able to mimic the powers?

Brandon Sanderson

No.

What about birds from other Shardworlds? Could they eat the parasitic worms on Patji's Perpendicularity and become Aviar?

No because they haven't evolved the right biochemistry to form the right bond with the parasite.

You said before that if a human ate an Aviar worm, it would not doing anything, right? Someone's tried that? What would happen if a baby...?

Brandon Sanderson

Still wouldn't work. The gut flora is too different. And they're not part of the symbiotic life cycle there. That system has evolved to the symbiosis that it has, and humans are too new to trying to make that work.

Humans are not new on the planet, but they are not part of that system.

Podman36

Could they be trained into it?

Brandon Sanderson

Training wouldn't work

Podman36

Not like training, but through generations.

Brandon Sanderson

Through generations, that would be theoretically possible.

There is also the question of mixing investiture which we have seen be either extremely painful and/or have issues manifesting correctly. There is some question to if other birds from certain shard worlds could, but there hasn't been a definitive answer.

In my own personal opinion is similar to RShara. Symbiotic bonds and biochemistry are very specialized and I dare say fragile so it's extremely highly unlikely that we get a bond like that.

Questioner

In Sixth of the Dusk, the Aviar, they [ate all those worms]. What happens if someone else eats the worms on Patji? Do they get powers?

Brandon Sanderson

Has-- It doesn’t work for a human. They’ve tried that. But there might be something more there.

not for a human, but what about for another Drominad animal??

Sorry, didn't have much do do with the original question, but the question was kind of resolved
