Liquid metals

What if it's in a container with thick enough walls to allow you to swallow it without burning yourself.

Then you are not able to burn the metal because you aren't actually touching the metal, just the container.

Or if you use gold to heal yourself simultaneously.

Maybe then.

The state of the metal does not affect it's viability for the metalic arts. The metalic arts do not provide any special protection against the properties of the metal. If you have protection against the dangers of the metal, it is still viable.

I actually think that the state of the metal effects the metallic arts. The power(investiture) is shaped by the metal decomposing into something(probably investiture), liquid iron has a different structure then solid iron, so if the lattice structure of iron helps shape A-Iron then it does effect the ability.

If a mistborn were to drink liquid Iron for example (Without it solidifying) would they still be able to burn it?

Liquid metals can be burned yes. Wayne demonstrates this trick by melting a lump of bendalloy in hot tea to make swallowing it easier. Bendalloy has a melting point of approximately 70C and tea is generally served at approximately 72C.

This trick is useful because bendalloy burns so quickly that a relatively large amount is required for any kind of sustained use to be possible. (IE: Wayne needs to consume something like 10-100x the volume of metal that Wax does when preparing for a fight).

When does he do this?

I would think that once it touches the walls of his mouth and throat it would cool enough to harden again.

The heat transfer isn't that fast and it doesn't take long for a sip of tea to work its way down into your stomach. Technically the metal doesn't even need to make it all the way, just enough for the allomancer to perceive it as being 'inside' them; there's nothing special about the stomach.

That WoB is very interesting. Does that mean that an Aluminum misting who is actively burning their metal could vaporize bullets as they entered their body?

They would have to be burning very very fast to do that.

Yes, aluminum is consumed when it's burned and it burns quickly. When you burn it, you wipe all your metal reserves. Or at least, it seems that way, if you had a very large amount of metal in you and a smaller piece of aluminum the latter might burn away before it's finished working on your other metals.
