There are some stories... some sections that will cause me to stop reading... and have to take a break and return to the story at some future point. There are aspects of that in Oathbringer... I still haven't brought myself to fully re-read Oathbringer after the first trip through... There are sections of Words of Radiance I greatly dislike... but that's the kind of reader I am - sometimes I'm too invested in the story. At some point I will re-read Oathbringer... but it may be a while before that happens... there are sections that are enjoyable... some that are not.

What was revealed about Kaladin's mother's lineage? I remember there being something about her being related in some way to royalty somewhere along the line...

I discovered a friend at work listening to The Way of Kings... then started chatting, but hinting at but not telling of things to come... At this point, he's gone through the 3 Stormlight books, and the Final Empire and is currently reading the Reckoners...

The challenge with where Kaladin is at now is that he has to be able to make a choice when he's faced with two groups he knows and doesn't differentiate a true "enemy"... he currently doesn't have any true allegiance to any one group... I'm uncertain if he'd have been able to fight if he were "protecting" his mother and father...

I expect that Kaladin's 4th ideal will relate to this quote from Lirin - "You have to learn when to care, son. ... And when to let go. You'll see. I had similar problems when I was younger. You'll grow calluses." Which echo's a number of other people's comments above.

I thought he came close to the fourth ideal a couple of times and I thought the wind spren appeared the other times as well...

You sure that wasn't White Spine riding? I suspect Hoid would find it challenging to keep riders out of trouble as a Clown for that event though... D:

If.... Kaladin were to really become Odium's champion I'm uncertain I would continue reading this series. That would severely go against the grain of what I'd expected. That being said, I could see him dying but that would be rather similar in one aspect to the Mistborn series. I'm uncertain what to expect at this point.

Wait... Shardblades are "dead" spren. If Nightblood's exactly the same thing as a shard blade, then by definition, he's a spren. But he's not "dead"... so I'm so confused...

I'm uncertain that's something that's been covered thus far - although I expect it to be a topic of a flashback... that being said, I get the feeling that it's well known she's deceased...

Wait a minute... I remember something about going to "The Valley" for the old magic - want to say this was related to the interlude with Baxil and "his mistress"... This map shows "The Valley" as being in very close proximity to Urithiru......

Seemed similar... and I've learned that similar things generally have meaning when it comes to Brandon's work... But I may have been reaching on that... *sigh*

I could understand Szeth as odium's champion...

I have a strong desire to see Kaladin spar with Zahel now that he has the shard spear... (Actually, having him spar w/ stormlight with Adolin might be fun as well)
