Jaxevist made a rude sign at the mainland as the Crimson Tide sailed away from the dock. He hated- no, he despised the Stonelands. He'd only been there once- before this, of course- but once had been enough. He'd sworn never to return, both to himself and to his crew, and he'd been certain that- unlike many of his 'promises' - this one would hold. But, of course, nothing could stand the weight of gold. Not for Jaxevist. Probably should've charged more, he thought as he scrubbed himself

Xino struck. He struck again. Each strike defined lines of brilliant light that blocked off the Witherlord's retreat. Each strike caused the Witherlord to shrink back further, his power dissipating. "That is for Trewee," Xino snarled. With a mighty swing, a beam of light shot from the spear, pinning the Witherlord in place. The dark figure gasped, black smoke rising up from the place where the light pierced his chest and instantly evaporating. He cringed backwards as Xino stepped towards hi

Trewee hissed. He looked... wrong. Instead of a smooth, flowing shape, his surface was jagged and fractured. Black streaks ran through him, spreading out from his eye like black dye injected into gelatin. "What happened?" Sophie whispered. "He... he looks sick. Can watersprites get sick?" Xino frowned. "No, not usually. But it's not a big deal, I'll just..." He tried Narrating the stain away again, but nothing happened. He blinked. "...what?" He tried again. Nothing. "I... I can't Narr

And then the world blew up, and everyone died. Sophie folded her arms. "Xino!" she chided. "What was that for?" Xino gave a snort and continued walking.  "You know," Sophie called, hands on her hip. "I think I've finally figured you out." That caused Xino to pause. He turned around, one eyebrow raised. "Oh?" "You're jealous," she said with satisfaction. "Jealous of the stories that the rest of us create. Because you know you could never, in a million years create stories

What is it you want, child? "I want... I want the pain to end. I want it to all just... go away." -- Phoenix burst from a world of black and white into a world of color. The transition left him gasping, reeling- how could he have forgotten how bright it was?- but panic pushed him forwards. He had to get to Star, before it was too late. -- Very well. The wind blew softly around Star. I can bring you an end. Erase you from the world forever and always. -- Space

"I'm sorry," said Pheonix from behind Star. Nothing else. What else was there to say? The wind blew, gentle yet firm. Pheonix's flame flared slight, then dimmed once again. "They all hate me," whispered Star. "For who I was. Who I am." I don't hate you. The words formed on Pheonix's lips, but he couldn't force them out. What use were they? They were just words. "Sometimes..." The wind blew Star's hair into her face. She made no motion to move it away. "Sometimes I wonder if e

monster, quickly dissolving away into inky black mist. Had that... just worked?  "Hah!" he said, leaning on his sword, too exhausted for more than a quick bark of laughter. "Take that, 'Queen of Shadows'!" Behind him, he could hear the ragged cheers of the remaining Narrators as they realized what had just happened. Astra let out a screech of fury and despair. "No! You will die! I will destroy you! I HATE YOU I HATE YOU I HATE YOU-" The last of the withergeists swirled around and

the man screamed. "You thought to defy me," snarled Tom Joebob. "You thought to turn them against me, to steal rule for yourself. Well. Now you pay the price for your defiance." He turned the machine on once more, more powerful than ever. Rage and hate and pleasure blended together inside of him as he watched his enemy suffer. And then- Ralvan began to laugh. Just a chuckle at first, so quick Tom might have missed it. Then a giggle, his chest spasming slightly. Finally a long, dra

Once upon a time there was a man, named Tom Joebob, who feared Death more than anything. Now, Tom Joebob was a clever man. He knew the ways of chemicals and machines and all manner of other sciences. But no matter how hard he searched and studied and experimented, he could find no weapon that could defeat Death. Soon enough the hour came for Death to take him. In desperation, Tom Joebob called out to a being he had never allowed himself to believe in: Fate, the Author of all reality. A

Modern Orthodox Judaism

Thank you for stopping by at Trutharchivist’s Rambles again! This is Trutharchivist (not that you were expecting anyone else), and in my next post I’d like to talk about Neo-Orthodox Judaism. To summarize the previous few posts, we talked about the Haskalah movement from the 18th century and its ideology, then how it led to Jews slowly trying to somewhat assimilate to their local culture - eventually leading to a Reform in the Jewish faith, with Orthodox rabbis resisting it through the begi

January 2024

Happy new year.   So there's usually a spoiler stream in January, hopefully by that time they have a new location to source questions from since I don't think they are using Reddit anymore. I guess I might as well put up some questions I would like to see answered, a lot of these can be found on my about me section but I added a few   Anyway, anything interesting this month?

November

Hi, so as you should all know by now I won't be on the shard for a while, so I put this blog together because it turns out you can have delayed publication on these things. So yeah, I'll try to have at least one for each month I'm gone to remind you all that I exist and what not So yeah, look forward to that.

The infernal laws of social media preservation.

1. you only remember something right before, or after something bad has happened. 1a. (often archival will be needed because of OP's family failing to recognize the poster's talent, and/or someone being attacked on the internet.) 1b. (if you find ANY media based on Nintendo's ips, archive it as fast as you can.) 2. archiving something will take forever, and will often be in a low quality. 3. finding an archive will take more effort than you want to give, but not enough that i

tldr; I feel like an idiot!

“man, that was ez. why didn’t I do that in the first place?” in hindsight, I shouldn’t be viewing my friend’s memes in class, not only do they distract me from my work that I need to do, but my seeing of them on school property means the school is more aware of them and they are more likely to delete them, or, given the size of the file, have them be somewhat griefed by my school. I also might get in trouble with my folks at home because some of the memes are  gross, political, out of context, a

I think I'm famous.

I am starting to think that I am the famous kid in school. everyone knows my name and thinks I know theirs. spoiler alert, I don't. so no, mam' I don't remember that time where I supposedly shoved you down the 3 or so steps back in 3rd grade, but I DO remember someone like you wailing like a spoiled 4 year old after I walked by you on the other side of the hall because you acted like every male peer was a steriotypical h*rny teenager, and goodness, I forgave you and your clique for that a minute

school peers not big smart.

I have several imaginary friends, and watch Paw Patrol because nothing else is on, and read dictionary entries for fun. I'm a teen. a male, non-trans teen who does not give a crem-brick that it's "childish", and is very happy with his strait, f*ttish-less, non-toxic christian, anti-w*nker (sense 1) life, thank you very much.

Weird stuff I'm doing in my D&D campaign

Basically, I'm playing with a bunch of noobs. My brother and I have played D&D for years now, but our friends are less experienced - and to be completely honest, I'm okay with that. There are a lot of flaws and holes in the D&D system that kinda just don't work. Also I suck at running planned campaigns. I've tried in the past and it's always gone horribly. The problem is that my ideas are always way too specific and hardwired into my Autism/ADHD 5000 Neural Network (brain), but trying to
