  1. I think he identifies far better with the Parshmen than he does with the Alethi. He loathes the idea of having to one day encounter Parshmen like this on the battlefield. I think the more time he travels with him the more it could chip away at his conviction that humans are the good guys in this conflict. I don't know but perhaps Syl leaves him once and for all after he has these kinds of thoughts and he turns to Odium to fill the void that she leaves. \Pure speculation on my part.
  2. Damnation is Kaladin going to end up being Odium's champion?
  3. Oh Dalinar was a gem back then. I am going to love this book.
  4. Odium's handling of this conflict has been brilliant up to this point in my opinion. Feigning a diplomatic approach with the Parshendi while his voidspren work to amass the Parshendi is buying his forces time. If the Parshmen had been revived into storm form and attacked the major cities I feel like that would drive humanity into uniting against this threat and agreeing to allow Dalinar to have the Oathgates opened. Waiting until your forces are large enough to sweep over the continent while one by one the kings and queens refuse Dalinars offer of unity is going to be huge in this book. Keeping the various orders of the Knights Radiant separated will pay dividends for the Voidbringers as well. Think about it, how many people who are having Radiant powers manifest within them actually know about Urithiru? I doubt the ruling class will alert any potential Radiant in the midst of a gathering of them in Urithiiru. They wouldn't want such a valuable resource sprinting off to the hallowed city. The Heralds will have to get involved and quickly for humanity to have a chance. This is my overarching speculation for Oathbringer.
  5. Really looking forward to Sean Bean playing him in the TV adaptation of this series.
  6. Has Dalinar's boon ever been specifically stated? If it was prowess on the battlefield then perhaps his aversion to taking the field over the past book has led to his being able to remember his wife? Because he isn't using the boon the bane is slowly fading. Also, Kaladin is going to be such a cool Windrunner with a bunch of Parshendi and Bridgemen for squires.
  7. I would bet a member of the Diagram is more likely to be responsible than a Ghostblood. They want to sow discord and insurrection amongst those Dalinar is committed to leading to destabilize his power base and make it easier for Mr. T to assume command.
  8. Shoot, I bet if Shallan had seen him arrive to fight Szeth on the shattered plains this would be a whole different story. Talk about a swoonable moment.
  9. Do you think that Moash would've become a squire had he not tried to kill the king? If he had just harbored his hatred instead of acting on it? I personally don't think so as he didn't embody the ideals of the Windrunners. Obviously they won't be as devout as Kaladin but they have to bear some similarity to his mindset to become a squire right?
  10. I really hope that someone just happens upon Jasnah in a library in Urithiru. One day an ardent walks into a library early in the morning to research something and they just find Jasnah there reading at a desk researching some world-saving topic.
  11. Luckily the Bridge 4 tattoo didn't stick at the beginning of WoR. This might allow him to forge a relationship with these Listeners far more easily.
  12. That is why I believe he is a Willshaper. There are no known WIllshapers so we have no idea what their bonded spren look like. Sanderson needs an avenue to introduce this order and I think that Elhokar is the best option. He is going back home to try and reunite his kingdom, one of the Willshaper surges is cohesion. I love the idea of him beginning to use stormlight while adventuring with Kaladin only to have it revealed that he is the Radiant of an entirely different order. I explained at length why I think that Elhokar is a Willshaper in an earlier post on this thread.
  13. I would like to edit my prediction. I still believe Elhokar and Kaladin work to save Kholin, however throughout the arc Elhokar will absorb stormlight and glow or perform stormlight aided feats. It will still be assumed that it's his proximity to Kaladin that is the cause however in the end Elhokar speaks the second ideal of the Order of Willshapers. I think his personality is far more fitting with them than the Windrunners. As far as Elhokar seeing cryptics means he is a Lightweaver, we don't know what the spren that bond with Willshapers look like so perhaps they are similar. Also, I think the juxtaposition (love getting to use that word) of discussion of methods of travel to the various oathgates and Elhokar's desire to promote his uncle and save his kingdom is another point in favor of him being a Willshaper being that transportation is one of the surges of the Willshapers. In my mind it's as though Sanderson is trying to get us to associate Elhokar with travel, just somewhat subtly. Also, I am 100% in the "Adolin is a Knights Radiant" camp specifically, obviously, Edgedancer. His Shardblade once belonged to an Edgedancer (props to WhiteLeepard for that info) and Adolin has an incredibly intimate relationship with his that sword. I think that the way Sanderson describes Adolin's smooth fighting style might also be subtly pointing towards his abrasion surge. Perhaps his vision in these three chapters wasn't Renarin's doing but a manifestation of the Edgedancer's progression surge. If this has already been suggested then feel free to pelt me rotten virtual fruit.
  14. Forgive my ignorance but do we know the history of Adolin's shardblade? If he revives the spren inside it must be fairly important right?
  15. Loved these chapters. I hope that Kaladin and Elhokar do end up traveling to Kholin. I hope that throughout their arc in Kholin, Elhokar really grows as a leader and as he grows he begins to display Windrunner traits. We all assume that it's because of his proximity to Kaladin but, in reality, as Elhokar takes back his throne he speaks the words and is revealed to be a full blown Windrunner. I know it is a long shot given that Elhokar has such a long way to go to embody the Windrunner traits, but that is my fun fan fiction for the day.
