I'm not convinced this is in the cards. And if it is, there's a long way to go for her, first, as she's currently influenced by hatespren, or some other Spren of Odium, which would seem a really good way to block her from attracting a Spren. For non-human Radiant candidates, I'd look more towards Rlain. (or Shen, if you prefer his slave name)

It's also entirely possible that whatever Shard was responsible for the events in SoS was acting through agents and is not present on Scadrial.

could there be another big "god"? anti-adonalsium
Ari replied to Kaze the white eye's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Spren have varying degrees of alignment with each of the three Shards invested on Roshar. It's entirely possible some of them are even aligned with none of the three, as we have WoB that some Spren pre-dated Honour and Cultivation's arrival. Nah, that WoB is that Harmony could reasonably be called the most powerful force we have seen in the Cosmere. That doesn't say anything about whatever the enemy of Adonalsium is, whether it's the God Beyond or some other power. -
Technically speaking, all we have evidence for is that they're ways people get out of the Coginitive realm, but that's probably irrelevant, as Brandon has been dropping hints about where the Shardpool in Elantris might have led... If you combine access to the Cognitive Realm, (Shadesmar, per WoB, is Roshar's slice of the realm, not the whole thing) with the ability to be functionally immortal, that's certainly enough to worldhop. You might also want the ability to cross vast distances faster, (while Brandon has said you can walk between worlds this way, he's also heavily implied it would take you a very long time) so it would be helpful to possess either some sort of speed-enhancing ability, (like allomantic pewter-dragging, allomantic flight, or feruchemical steel) or a teleportation ability to help you make those trips in a timely manner, or as an alternative to being ageless.
-
Good catch. There's definitely things Brandon isn't quite ready to tell us about the Heralds, but he's dropping breadcrumbs so we have a trail to follow once we hit the second half. I wouldn't be surprised if she's at least a little accurate, and that somehow the heralds "died" to take up their positions. There's also the very simple explanation that she doesn't think of him as a real person because he's somewhat immortal.

That's pretty reasonable speculation I think, at least until we see more about how Hemalurgy reacts with non-Scadrian investiture, which is definitely worth keeping an eye on in Bands of Mourning and the last Wax & Wayne book. It seems likely that the answer lies in either the rules being broader than we think they are, or that the remaining Hemalurgical metals relate directly to other magic systems.
-
I think it's reasonable to include Iyatil's species as a candidate, given how insistent she is on wearing her mask, and the description of the face. It's possible it could also be a Parshendi if the eyewitness was sufficiently paniced to overlook some of their similarities to humans.
-
The trouble with this is, Hemalurgy can come pretty close to doing anything any other magic can do. We have no idea if a Spren bond is similar enough to human-attribute Hemalurgy to turn a mistwraith into a Kandra. I'm kinda guessing it isn't. That said, that doesn't mean there isn't any other way for Kandra to get the human attributes they need except via hemalurgy. It's entirely possible there's some investiture hackery that can be done, or that even something like endowing a mistwraith with breaths could awaken it into a Kandra.

Or, in another way of looking at it, all feruchemists start Initiated, as does every Nalthian. I think you're on the right track here in general.
-
I really like this train of thought. That could also relate to why Tia is MIA- I'm thinking it's entirely possible he has decided not to kill her, but is keeping her somewhere to secure his weakness. (as we have WoB that she knows it)
-
Nice to have it confirmed!

I think most Sharders will choose WoR. That doesn't mean WoK is a bad book, it just did things that wouldn't appeal as much to hardcore fans in order to ensure the Stormlight Archive can build a broader audience by easing them into the series.
-
Hah totally didn't notice it. It's probably Brandon being a bit meta and nodding to Honour in the Stormlight Archive, without any explicit in-universe meaning.
-
Nah we all get to experience Mistborn again as if it's new, which is fun. I've been around since before Seventeenth Shard was a thing, back on the old TWG forums, so I have a bit of an advantage. For me, the theories are easy to understand if they're well written, (except the very most complex ones) and I can recall a LOT of the WoBs in my head.
-
If you're arguing for roughly opposing pairs, Autonomy pairs well with Dominion, no matter how you interpret Dominion. We have WoB that the regionalised magic is not due to the nature of Dominion's power. That's at the least an implicit suggestion that Dominion should be interpretted more in the lines of "power in a strict heirarchy" than the "kingdom" meaning.

[SoS Theory] Rayse and Bavadin are teaming up...again.
Ari replied to Spire's topic in Cosmere Discussion
The word of Brandon we had is along the lines of "Not all shards have direct opposites the way Preservation and Ruin do." (At the time, a lot of people thought it was implicit that all shards would come in neat opposing pairs) So you can interpret that in three ways- one, all shards are paired, but not all opposites are as direct as Preservation and Ruin. Two, not all shards are paired. Three, some shards are paired and some are not, AND not all pairings are as directly opposed as Preservation and Ruin. -
Can you just imagine Wayne travelling around collecting Rosharan accents? lol

Does anyone else die a little everyday?
Ari replied to Kaladin al'Thor's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Yeah, it's definitely a danger of reading novels first in a second language. But at least this way you don't totally miss out until it's translated! And you can always pick up the translation later for your cosmere reference purposes.- 58 replies

We all know the Shard interfering with Scadrial isn't on Scadrial yet. That doesn't mean that "Trell" isn't a signifier for whatever Shard is invested in those spikes, especially if that shard has been sending agents to Scadrial for some time.
-
Sweet, NOW that tells us something. edit: You did just fine. Links to theoryland with the anchor for the individual quote are great. I usually also copy-paste the text into a quote box for convenience, so people can read it here or verify it via the link. extra edit: Although it possibly still doesn't tell us as much as we think it does, depending on whether Brandon is interpretting Trell to mean the Shard whose metal was used or not. It could be that Trell and that Shard are actually different beings.
-
Yeah good point, my command would just make it store Stormlight, which it already does naturally. Yours is a good start but might need finessing with a "be as my breath" or something along those lines to do it, but Awakening seems a very natural fit for hacking other types of Investiture.

[SoS / Elantris spoilers] Gathering all new infomation
Ari replied to Avivsm's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Which doesn't really tell us anything, hence the smirking. For all we know there were non-Yolish and/or non-human people present for the shattering who picked up Shards. edit: As per the other thread apparently we have WoB that all original Shardholders were Yolish. So IF Trell is a Shard, then we have confirmation of a previous Shardholder death and replacement before Harmony. -
[SoS Theory] Rayse and Bavadin are teaming up...again.
Ari replied to Spire's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I think for the specific events of SoS, I agree that Bavadin was probably acting alone. That said, I don't think the two shards have stopped working together. If Odium survives the Stormlight Archive somehow, you better believe that he's going to have some sort of plan for Harmony, and that plan will involve his nearest-thing-to-a-buddy, Autonomy. -
We also do not know that all original shardholders are human.
