Question about making a Lifeless- do you have to declare which body you are trying to use when you take that action? I'm not planning on making one tonight, I'm just curious. But everyone is free to read into it whatever they want to.
-
It seems pretty clear where the vote is going now, and I'm going to help it on its way by changing my vote from Bart to Swimmim. He's not necessarily at the top of my list but his Idrian agent shenanigans were pretty suspicious.
-
@Claincy: side question: Do we get to find out whether someone used the body to create a lifeless last night?
-
You keep saying this, but perhaps you are forgetting about this role? Either way, I am become more (though not completely) convinced of Cog's innocence, and more (though not completely) suspicious of Bartolomew's schemings.

Yes, I believe your exact words were something like "If people jump on the bandwagon and the bandwagon is dead wrong, place all of the blame on the first person on the wagon," right?

Rowan perked up as he heard the accusations against Cog. It sounded like people were starting to suspect him, enough to want to lunch him. Figured. When the lone hunter thinks someone is up to no good, everyone starts staring daggers at the hunter. But if anyone else speaks up against the sneaky low-life they get praised and people flock to follow them. Oh well, it was to be expected. Still, when the time came, Rowan would do his part to make sure that the rotten lying Cog would get what he deserved. EDIT: by the way, I just want to go on record and say that all of Rowan's grumpiness and spite is all Roleplay. I figured I wanted to play someone different than the humble subservient terris steward I played last time.

i like the Disney references Awesome. Upvote for you!

The smith, Dead. Rowan couldn't say that he was too surprised. And apparently Vard had secretly been working for the Hallandrens. That didn't surprise Rowan either. The corrupt Hallandrens disgusted him. Of course, his own people probably weren't any better, they probably had hidden agents of their own among the Hallandrens. Disgusting. Rowan kept one hand on his hatchet and stayed away from the crowds. He could feel their eyes on him, distrustful and suspicious. They would come for him, he knew, sooner or later. He just had to make sure he got them first. It was just like the Jungle- the strong survived, and the weak died.

mostly I think that spying on someone or scanning someone ought to happen after everything else. Knowing how much Breath a person had yesterday isn't necessarily very useful.
-
I'm curious about your decision on the order of night actions. Personally I think it ought to be the reverse of your list. With Returned saving being the obvious exception.

[sarcasm]I do so love how many people are making it public knowledge that they are giving their Breath away. [/sarcasm] Seriously, all it does is consolidate more Breath into a smaller number of people, while simultaneously giving the Pahn Kahl information about who is in that smaller group of people, thus making it easier for them to kill important people and steal larger numbers of Breath. Let's try to not make it too easy for them, shall we?
-
I would change tin too: 1) allows all players to send or reply to one and only one PM this cycle 2) allows all players to send or reply to as many PMs as they wish during this cycle 3) same as 2), and the Tineye can "listen in" on one player's PM.

Interesting Gamma. If it was me, I would change the three levels to 1) normal burn, 2) flaring, 3) duralumin/Nicrosil burst, meaning that the third level was only available with the help of duralumin and Nicrosil. Also, the duralumin/Nicrosil burst should consume all of that players metal vials (at least for the one metal that they were burning in the case of the Mistborn).

Fair enough. Actually, as I think about it, I say don't tell us. The only people that benefit from you telling us are those who already have multiple Breaths. Those with only one Breath really only have one option: try to get more. That's true whether there is 1 Breath up for grabs or 10. Those with multiple Breaths might decide to do one of their other night actions if there are few Breaths available, or go for more Breaths if there are a lot up for grabs.

@Claincy: how much Breath, if any, is available for purchase tonight?

well thanks to a baby who won't sleep and a poor beleaguered wife who needs a break, I got one last chance to post today. I retract my vote for Cog (Metacognition) and vote for Ben (Edgedancer) instead.

Sure enough, the crowd was starting to get riled up, talked about killing each other to find the murderers. That line of reasoning was ironic, but Rowan wasn't concerned about it. That was the way of the jungle. If killing another creature helped the predator live longer, that's what it did. And Rowan was nothing if not a man of the jungle. He wasn't afraid to get his hands bloody once the killing started. Searching through the crowd, he found his quarry. Cog felt Rowan's gaze, and looked up. Rowan pointed at Cog (Metacognition), then drew his finger slowly across his own throat, his intent obvious. Cog just grinned, unafraid. Yes, Cog was devious, definitely not trustworthy. That glint in his eyes, his arrogant smile... Rowan could easily picture that man putting a knife in someone's back, and enjoying it. Besides, he talked too much. Rowan hated that. Edit: just making my vote a little more obvious- it could have easily been missed before.
-
Rowan eyed the growing crowd, then edged closer. The snatches of conversations he overheard gave him an idea of what to expect before he saw the body. Oh colors. One of his own countrymen, technically, and an important looking one at that. Murdered. What was worse, it meant that Rowan was probably going to be stuck here for a while. Colors! And all the shades of damnation, too! Thoroughly annoyed, Rowan moved back away from the crowd, and settled in to wait for the real commotion to begin.

Sorry to propose rule changes after the game has started, but I have one more suggestion: A player ought to be able to give away his breath during the daytime, but must do so PUBLICLY, and possibly in place of casting a vote. This will allow for someone who knows he or she is about to be lynched to give their Breath to someone they trust, which fits in with the book (think Vivenna's spy friend at the beginning). Also, it allows for more Breath to stay inside the game, and allows for lots of fun speculation as we mull over who the deceased decided to give their Breaths to and why.

Counterpoint to meta (not to be argumentative, but still things to consider): Some people are crazy enough that they will play in multiple games at the same time. Also, if you stagger games so that they start, say, once every two weeks. By the time the second game starts, around 7 people have died from game 1 and will be ready to jump in a new game. Plus, smaller games go quicker, simply because there are less players to kill off before winning. That is appealing to some people- such as myself- who aren't necessarily ready to commit to a month long or longer game (Don't get me wrong, I had a blast with my first game, and I'm excited for the Claincy's game, but MAN that took up a lot of my free time, even as just a player. I can't imagine what you GMs must go through). IRL, I have found that between 13 and 20 people is ideal for a game of werewolves, and I see no reason why games of that size wouldn't work online. So yeah, I'm all in favor of having a couple of smaller games running at the same time, but staggered. If I was the next GM, I would open up enrollment one week after the previous game starts, then begin once I have 20 players signed up. Again, I don't intend this to be argumentative- Meta makes a lot of good points. I just thought I'd offer up some other good points for consideration.

That's exactly what happened.

Lots of interesting ideas being tossed about, let me add one more, to cover both creating lifeless and buying breath (because now I actually don't like my die-roll suggestion from earlier): Lottery style. When somebody dies, their body becomes available to be made into a lifeless the next night. During the night phase, anyone can spend their action to try to claim the body. The "winner" is chosen at random. If nobody tries to make a lifeless, the body remains until the next night. If there are multiple bodies available, there will be multiple "winners" for the night. The winner(s) are informed privately. Same thing for buying breath. Each night one or more Breaths become available on the market. Players are told about the availability of Breaths at the end of each day. No matter how many Breaths are available, a player may only purchase 1 breath per night. Advantages of the lottery system: It's simple, easy to use and understand, and easy to keep balanced. Plus I really like that it- along with the System that Claincy has set up in general- gives ALL players options for different actions to take during the night. I think it will help hold people's interest in the game, particularly those without any special role, because they will still have things to do.

Yeah I was surprised he answered those as well as he did too. Honestly I fully expected him to RAFO several if not all of those. @Swimmingly: I think it's the second thing you said, that the spike would just steal the link to the blade, not the blade itself.- 51 replies

On phone again. Re: Lifeless. Just me personally, but if I had to use an action and permanently lose 2 breaths to get protection for one and only one night I would never do it. Even at a cost of 1 breath I would only ever do it if I was confident that I knew who the bad guys were going to target. Permanently losing a breath is a steep enough cost already, and protecting a player for 1 night isn't really a game-changing action. Re: awakened sword vs 5th heightening. I would say the sword should win out and the kill would get through.
