  1. Tin Message #2 "Lead us, O Mistborn" we said I do it because I’m Awesome. He told us Wes should be dead Short for A. Wesomeness Summoned, the Third. It left us confused the Emoti-quisitor And some refused With a rope! And Shimbles was hung, instead Who is more foolish? The fool or the fool who follows him?
  2. And now the moment you've all been waiting for. Here are all the Tin Messages I posted, along with their hidden meanings. I'm putting the meanings in Spoiler tags, just so that they don't clutter up the thread TOO much. Tin Message #1 Mistress DEATH lurks Here among us Thy WANTS now are Naught but distrust It has behooved Peng the Mistborn To find poor Lam And leave him torn VENGEANCE is sought For blood we thirst May we find her 'Fore we die FIRST
  3. Yeah, while I was alive I pretty much did all the spiked's work for them. *facepalm* And just because this is so awesomely bad, here is the very first PM of the game I sent. It's recipient was, of course, Cessie. "Hello! While it's still early in the game, I like to start building alliances early. I find it helps increase the odds of surviving the game, as long as it doesn't grow too big and accidentally include an inquisitor/traitor. (I realize that there is a small chance that YOU are the inquisitor, but I'll take that chance. ) How would you like to enter into one with me? As a gesture of goodwill, and as a bit of evidence that I am not a bad guy, I would like to reveal that I am the Tineye (or at least, ONE of them, if there are more). There is not much I can do to prove this at the moment, but I left hints in my recent post, by including references to all 5 senses: Smell, hearing, seeing, tasting, and touching. " Wow. I mean, just wow Herowannabe. Oh well. Also, I'm on my phone now, but I'll post the secrets of all my Tineye messages when I get home tonight.
  4. Oh no! Sorry about the down vote The Only Joe! That was an accident! I was scrolling down on my phone and bumped it, and now there doesn't seem to be any way to undo it. I'll up vote a couple of your other posts to make up for it.
  5. Keep it moving people 'cause there's nothing more for you to see. I'm just a jerk, but a hero's what I wannabe. Yeah. Oh yeah.

You're a creep from the cradle, that's what you are.

I always wondered if your name was from that song...

It burned like a cancer when the answer did occur to me...

Why yes, yes it is. ;) In nearly 2 decades of using that screen name you're the first one to catch the reference without me telling them first. Most people have never even heard of the song. I'm going to have to go find a bunch of your posts and upvote them... ;)

  6. Hey, if anyone is interested, we recently finished a mini-campaign over at steelministry.com titled Futile Efforts. Basically it consisted of the crew trying to assassinate The Lord Ruler. Anyway, Lord Claincy Ffnord compiled all of the narration into one thread, and cut out all of the dice rolls and OOC stuff, for easy reading. If you're interested in reading it, more info can be found here: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/6356-futile-efforts-match-1/?p=103519#entry103519
  7. So we have been playing several campaigns of the Mistborn Adventure Game over at steelministry.com, and one of the ones I have been narrating jut came to an end. Kurkistan came up for the idea for the campaign, and described it thusly: "Scenario: The Narrator controls TLR, who knowledgeable sources have succinctly described as "a thousand year old, expert-[near]savant-Lerasium-Twinawesome-Sliver." However many people as possible comprise a group who are, at adventure's beginning, mere moments away from executing an assassination attempt on TLR. A handful of beats later, the entire crew is dead. And thus the adventure concludes." We wanted it to be quick and messy, which it was, albeit if only by play-by-post standards. It took a little over 6 months to complete. We titled the game "Futile Efforts." Anyway, as I was narrating, Lord Claincy Ffnord liked my write ups so much he started compiling all the narration into one place, which can be found here: http://www.steelministry.com/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=518 It makes for a fun and exciting little story, as long as you don't mind the choppy narration from switching from one viewpoint to the next so frequently, as well as a few tense-change inconsistencies. Now that it's all done, Claincy suggested that I post it in here, so here you go. Enjoy everyone!
  8. You know, it occurred to me last night that Span Reeds would make for a very interesting game mechanics. Players can only send PMs if they have a span reed, and then, only with the person at the other end. At the beginning of the game, a player with a span reed picks who to give the other half to (or maybe that choice is made for him by the GM? and maybe the player isn't told who holds the other half? THAT would be interesting, being able to send secret messages to another player whose identity you didn't know). Something like that would be even more interesting if there was a "looting" aspect to the game, where when someone dies, the killer gets to take their stuff.
  9. @Meta: I agree 100%. That is why I said there would be a lot more that still needs to be figured out if we were to implement it, and by the end it might very well be an entirely different game than what we've had so far. Thank you for pointing that out though, I should have said something more to that effect myself. But, as I said, I haven't thought much past that game mechanic.
  10. I've only thought about a Stormlight game a little bit, but here is the one game mechanic that occurred to me: Dueling: Aside from the daytime lynchings, anytime somebody targets another player for death it does not result in an automatic kill. Instead, it is determined by a dice roll made by the GM. Each player (or most players?) has a weapon, and armor, though they vary from player to player. Weapons add a certain amount to the dice roll (ie: a knife might add +1 to the dice roll, but a shardblade might add +5), and armor absorbs a certain amount of "damage" before a player dies (ie: a bridgeman's vest might absorb 1 point of damage, but shardplate might absorb 5). If any damage is not absorbed by the armor then the losing player is killed. When a player targets another for death in the night, they fight, and the winner of the duel deals damage to the loser. The contest is determined by the GM rolling 1 dice for each player, and the outcome is revealed during the morning's writeup. Player's names are not revealed in the writeup unless they die, but the GM will send a PM to each contestant telling them who their opponent was. For example, Szeth Sonsonvallano targets King Gavilar to duel. Both are wielding shardblades, and Gavilar is wearing shardplate. Szeth doesn't have armor, but chooses to use his Surgebinding power, which doubles the result of his dice roll. GM Stormfather rolls 1 dice for each of them. Gavilar rolls a 3, +5 for his shardblade = 8 Szeth rolls a 5, x2 for his Surgebinding, +5 for his shardblade = 15 Szeth beats Gavilar by 7. Gavilar's shardplate absorbs 5 damage, but 2 damage points get past the armor and Gavilar is killed. GM Stormfather writes up the result of their duel and posts it in the prologue of the Way of Kings. ---- That's as much as I've planned out. Obviously a lot more work would need to be done in order to flesh out the game as a whole, including which groups are trying to kill who and etc. A mechanic like this should be possible to work into another game setting, such as Aspren's.
  11. I would love to join, but alas, I must decline. Life is too busy, and I am already occupied with narrating two Mistborn Adventure Games over at steelministry.com. Besides, even *I* don't want to have to try to match the legacy I left behind with my Tin Messages in game 2! Best wishes to JasonPenguin and all the players though!
  12. [haunt]Mua ha ha! [/haunt] EDIT: [oochaunt]Unfortunately the site I uploaded the image to compressed the image more than I would have liked. If anyone would like a hi-res version of the image, PM me with your email address and I'll send you one[/oochaunt]
  13. Now I'm not trying to take over anyone's job, and I'm not applying for the position of Apprentice Listmaker or anything, but since I was doing this for myself anyway I figured I would post it here, too, in case anyone was interested. No guarantees that it will be updated as time goes on. Votes for Aspren: 11 Barty Kukri Roban Wilson Grayv Seran Aonar Wes Aspren Herwyn Gamma Quiver Vron Votes for Windrunner: 1 Vron Votes for Matt: 1 Gamma
  14. My schedule is starting to open up now. Chaos, would you mind emailing me your set of emoticons like you suggested? [email protected] Thanks!
  15. My vote is cast for Master Aspren as well, though at this point it will make little difference one way or the other, I think. I must say that I agree with Wes, however, in that if Master Aspren is innocent I will be suspicious of those who first voted for him. However, if Master Aspren is, in fact, guilty, then I will be watching those who were reluctant to vote for him.
  16. Listmaker, listmaker, make me a list... Can I call on one of our listmakers to please make a list of the major events that happened on each day/night, namely things like who died, what their roles were, when people were spiked, when people snapped, etc. If we can start figuring out who snapped into which powers on what days, it will give us clues as to which mistings might have been spiked at the same time.
  17. To make it a little more balanced/interesting, you could limit the slider/pulser to Y number of hours per game. IE: A pulser might have 20 hours worth of Cadmium total. She could use all of that up in one day, shortening it by 20 hours, but then she would be all out and couldn't use her power any more for the rest of the game. EDIT: Actually, that gives me an idea for another possible role: Metallurgist. The Metallurgist can pick one person each night and refresh their metal supply (ie: restoring more hours of time-bubbling to a Pulser or a Slider, restoring another life to a Thug, etc). We would want to tweak the other powers to have a limited number of uses as well.
  18. In our current game Meta has been allowing people to request more time in a day. Perhaps a Slider could choose to slow down time around them (and thus, the group) and extend the day by X hours, and a Pulser could choose to speed up time around them (and the group) and shorten the day by X hours.
  19. A Leecher (Chromium Misting) could be cool. Each day/night pick one player, That player loses his power until the next cycle (however, they are told that you are the one that leeched their power).
  20. Well, what snapped players do we have here? Please don't post it here if you've snapped, instead, PM Peng your role and the day/night you gained your power. That will give us a good clue of who might have been spiked and when.
  21. Well, I have to say I'm not happy I was right. We have to assume that she knew what roles everyone had (unless someone decided not to PM it to Peng when they snapped or whatever). The fact that her attacks took out all of our most important Mistings other than Peng is more evidence of that. Now, as for what we are to do about that- I have no idea.
  22. I've thought about basically giving Bloodmaker's the Thug's power- the ability to survive one attack, and then changing the thug to the same power as the Hunter role in Werewolves: "At the time of your death, you may immediately kill one other player." Basically, it lets you take someone out with you.
  23. Herwynbe crawled out of his hiding space behind the bar when the light of dawn started peeking through the windows. He had stayed at the bar to help watch for the Tineye, and because, admittedly, he was too afraid to face Lady Cessie and her minions. He hadn't expected them to come back here. As soon as he had heard the commotion he had ducked behind the bar and stayed there for hours, too afraid to come out. He was anything but a warrior, and certainly no match for allomancers or inquisitors. Nervously he crept to the back room to find Master Dyring and Lord Peng, both dead. Herwynbe slumped, weighed down by the guilt he felt at being so weak and cowardly. If only I had been... Stronger, braver, anything! If only- The figure in the bed coughed, gasping in a ragged breath. "Lord Peng!" Herwynbe cried out, jumping to his feet. The Mistborn was alive, but pale, and his breath was ragged and shallow. Herwynbe ran forward, pouring some pewter flakes into a cup of water and holding it up for Master Peng to drink. No, I may not be a warrior, but I can still aid those who are.
  24. I just saw this post, and was reading through it to see if I came across any interesting tidbits, and then I read this: And I realized- Hey! That was me! I asked that question! This was the first signing I went to- I believe it was for the Emperor's soul release at Sam Wellers. I had learned about Hoid a few months before, and I don't think I had even heard about 17th Shard (the website) yet. So I don't know if that question even made any sort of impact at the time or if all the Sharders in the audience just rolled their eyes and groaned at the newbie question, but well, there you go (of course now we know that he uses feruchemy, has some lerasium, Breaths, the moon scepter, and can Lightweave and who knows what else).
