  2. At last, the time has come for: Legion Quick Fix Rules A Time of Nightmares (rules put in spoiler tags in case you want to scroll past them) Sign-ups are beginning now, and will tentatively end next Tuesday, depending on my work schedule and availability to start the game. Cycles will typically begin at 10:00PM MST, and end at 8:00PM MST (the two hour window is to give me time to do the write up and create the right PM groups and everything). So welcome everyone! Feel free to sign up and get started! For roleplaying purposes: The game begins at the New Years Eve Party at Stephen Leeds Mansion, happening in the White Room. Those present are Stephen, and all of his aspects (Wilson is home with his family for the Holiday). Write ups:
  3. Personally, I don't think it's a great idea. It's kinda like when as a child you played games with that one kid who would make up rules as you played. A better idea would be something like: "Here is a list of 20 different roles and powers. 6 of them will be used in this game, but I'm not saying which 6." At least then you'd have some idea of what to expect. Or even something like what I have planned in my Elantris game, where there will be secrets that the Elantrian's can unlock. The players will go into the game knowing that there are going to be some unexpected things, and possibly have a rough idea of what they will be based on the events of the book, but it's more of a side-aspect to the game rather than the core ruleset.
  4. I have been told that the time is nearly here for me to start my Legion QF game. So far I haven't received any feedback on my rules, save for a half dozen upvotes. If anyone would like to make any suggestions for improvement, or ask for any clarifications or explanations, or whatever, now is the time to do it. The rules can be found in this post: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/5660-the-art-of-game-creation/?p=219333
  5. EXACTLY! So much mind-numbing, life-consuming, finger-aching, wife-irritating time spent coming up with secret Tin messages! But still, I would much rather do that all over again than be a Coinshot again. Way too much pressure! (Seriously, sorry to everyone I killed, and especially to Renegade!)
  6. Good game everyone! And congrats to the spiked. Very well played. As for all of my Coinshot blunders... *sigh* sorry about all of that. I had lots of good reasons (or so I thought) for targeting the people I did, but they all turned out to be wrong. And the one time I did find the right person I only told one person who I was targeting: Claincy. *sigh* (seriously, Claincy, well played. I had a plan for trying to root out spiked members. I PMed a few people individually- Claincy being one of them, Wilson another- saying basically "so based on what you've been saying in the thread I'm pretty sure I trust you." Then I waited to see who would try to encourage (manipulate) me into voting for people. I figured it would be far to tempting for a Spiked to ignore and not take advantage of, but Claincy all but completely ignored me, at least until Wilson died. Even then he didn't really try to get me to vote or Coinshot anyone, so I figured he was trustworthy. *sigh*) Anyway, I said this in the dead doc but I'll repeat it here. After this game I would much rather be a Tineye again before being a Coinshot again. And that's saying something. There is way too much pressure being a Coinshot. *sigh*
  7. @Seonid: one quick suggestion: give the Mistings more than one vial to start with, like say 3 or 4. It balances them out a bit with the Mistborn and Hemallurgist, because they won't have to worry about getting metals very often. If you're worried about that making it too easy to have and use vials, limit the number of metallurgists and/or the availability of metal vials. Also, you'll need to work out how metal vials work with some of the passive roles, like Pewter and Tin.
  8. I would love to join but seeing as I'll be GMing the next Quickfix game, starting halfway through this game, I'd better not. Have fun everyone! And good luck to everyone who hasn't ever betrayed me in any previous game!
  9. I say we hold the vote Vin style: Well of Ascension spoiler:
  10. Happy to have it stolen! Joe asked me how I made the allomancy symbols, and I thought I'd share with everyone else, too: I made them a while ago to add to the emoticon set used at steelministry.com, along with 2 inquisitor emoticons. If I remember right all I did was take the images for the symbols from the coppermind wiki, then shrink them down to the right size and make the white space transparent, using photoshop. (Hmm... This has me thinking, I should petition Chaos to add the Allomancy symbols to the site's emoticon set...)
  11. Well finally, months and months later, here are the (rough draft) rules for my Legion Quick Fix Game. Please look them over and tell me what you think. (also, Meta or one of the other mods, please change the link in the second post of the General Rules thread to this post, rather than this one. Legion Quick Fix Rules A Time of Nightmares
  12. Having your coppercloud off isn't any proof that you're a villager and not a spiked, it just means that your coppercloud is off. As for why I'm voting for you, I'm playing the odds. Out of 3 smokers, odds are one of them is spiked. Yes it's possible that all are clean and that there are 0 or 1 spiked smokers, but not likely. So far, as best as we can tell there have been 1-2 of each role. Assuming you are a Smoker, this would be the first confirmation that we have of a role had by at least 3 players. Again, with Meta involved it's certainly possible that there are 3 clean smokers (see QF2, when Meta made everybody and their dog a gunner/thug), but it's still likely that the Spiked have a smoker, and you're the only (proclaimed) smoker who isn't dead and innocent. Sorry.
  13. As I said earlier, I've been making accusations without voicing my reasons because I've been trying to get more information out of the accused, hoping to catch the spiked off guard. If I throw out a vote for a spiked member, but don't say why, hopefully it will make them nervous enough to make a mistake. How certain am I about my vote? Why do I suspect that person is spiked? Did they let something slip? Now, I realize not everyone will agree with that tactic. That's fine, I don't blame. So here is why I voted for Peng yesterday: The main reason is that (by my rough recollection) he has voted nearly if not every cycle, but has posted very very little. Often his votes have been adding on bandwagons or were mistakes, such as his vote today for Wintercloud- who is already dead. This has made it difficult to get any read on him and his motivations. So I voted for him to prompt him to respond, to try to get some more discussion out of him (and of course, to see what sort of response I could prompt from him and from other people if he does happen to be spiked). Lately, he's been a little more active, so I'm going to ease off of him. Today, I'm voting for Newan. I have it on good authority (from one of the dead villagers before they died) that Newan claimed to be a Smoker in at least one PM. This may or not be true. However, Satrams and Cleo were both village smokers. It's possible that we have 3 good smokers, but I doubt it. Also, I suspect that this is the reason why Wilson told Claincy to suspect Newan if Cleo was innocent. EDIT: And I see that my vote was ninja'd by Wyrm while I was typing this
  14. Remember we've lost a seeker and a mistborn. It's possible that we have another one, but it's not looking likely, unless you count the Spiked Seeker.
  15. @Unodus: Just a reminder, you need to put Wilson's name in red if you want the vote to count. @Peng: I still don't find your explanations very satisfying, so I'm leaving my vote there for now.
  16. Interesting developments today. I admit that Ash wasn't really on my radar at all, and he already has a lot of heat on him at the moment, so I don't think I'll be adding to that at this time. So I'm going to go a different route. Peng. I have suspicions for you, but as was the case earlier, I'm specifically not going to say what they are. Defend yourself and convince me you're innocent, and I'll remove my vote.
  17. I'm actually not convinced that this was all some sort of master plan by the Spiked. It could be, as has been suggested by other players. But looking at results, it seems like there wasn't any real coordination between the soother/rioters. It's definitely possible that at least two of the soother/rioters/mistborn were villagers, acting on their own. I could easily see a scenario where a spiked rioter moved Sarco's vote from Ostrich to me, and then the other villager rioter moved my vote to Maill, and the village soother (Maill perhaps? though that seems to obvious) soothed Wyrm. I don't know, now that I lay it out like that it doesn't seem very likely, but crazier things have happened. Wilson's suggestion could be the case too, but if so then I don't see why the Spiked wouldn't just double up their vote manipulations to get me lynched instead of the tie vote.
  18. There is a little bit of faulty logic in this. Before the vote manipulation I only had 2 votes on me, one of which was a retaliatory vote from Ostrich himself. Ostrich had 5. I wasn't in any real danger of being lynched, so therefore, the vote manipulations didn't save me, they only served to put me closer to being lynched. Ostrich was the only one who was saved. This is the only way that this scenario makes sense. However, it doesn't make much sense as far as Ostrich and my votes go. We voted for each other- why would we do that if we were both eliminators? Moreover, I was the first one to vote for Ostrich, and he was the first one to vote for me, so neither of us was bandwagoning. And lastly, with at least 2 vote manipulators, if we were both spiked, why would the spiked waste a whole cycle drawing attention to their own team members, when they easily could have had anyone they wanted lynched, thanks to the large number of no-votes? Doing that may have drawn a little bit of suspicion to a few of their team members, but not as much as the Ostrich/Hero both spiked scenario. It doesn't make sense. Plus, as I've said before, I know that I'm not a sp... Okay okay, I'll stop beating that drum. Anyway, like Mckeedee said, I think it's highly unlikely that all of the vote manipulation was done by the Spikeds. It's more likely that one or two of the vote manipulators were villagers. Most likely 2 village manipulators and 1 spiked manipulator (or 1 and 1, if Wyrm is a mistborn who drew Zinc), because of the lack of coordination between the manipulations. I have more analysis to add, but don't have time now.
  19. At least one of the Rioters were one of the people who didn't cast any votes. Thus, their vote went from "no vote" to "no vote" EDIT: Ninja'd...
  20. Yeah I saw that. Thanks for correcting me. The reason why is when I quoted myself it didn't put the first line (Wyrm's vote for Maill) in OOC blue, so I didn't catch it when doing comparisons. It's fixed now. Just want to point out that more specifically, if this scenario 2 is the case, there were 2 Rioters (or Mistborn with Zinc) and 1 Soother (or Mistborn with Brass). What say you Wyrm, any comments/confessions you'd like to make? (Note that I'm not accusing you of anything, I'm just curious what you have to say)
  21. Forgive the double-post, this was easier. So looking over the list, I see that: Hero's vote was Rioted to Maill Reecos vote was Rioted to Hero Note that both of those were changed votes, and nobody's vote was cancelled. That means that we have two rioters and/or Mistborn who drew Zinc for today. EDIT: And that those Rioters/Mistborn have a vested interest in keeping Ostrich alive, and/or wanting me or Maill dead. Very interesting. To the lab for analysis! EDIT2: Whoops, missed one. Thanks to Seonid below for catching it.
  22. Woah. Okay. Lots of vote manipulation going on here. Give me a minute while I reexamine the votes for the day... EDIT: here we go. (Note, I didn't number the votes because nobody changed their votes during the day, and we only had one retraction) Mail(1): Wyrm Claincy(1): Peng Ostrich(5): Hero, Claincy, Wilson, Sarcomere, Wintercloud Wyrm(1): Seonid, Pifferdoo Hero(2): Ostrich, Seonid
  23. Wyrm commented on it first, so he gets the honor of being quoted. I am not going to list my reasons for suspecting Ostrich, although after Wilson's excellent analysis, that's probably a moot point anyway. But I WILL tell you why I chose to not voice my suspicions: A day or two ago I reread the entire game so far. Now, while I didn't sum up everything in a mega-analysis Wilson-style, I did make a few observations and notice a few patterns, mostly concerning our mob-tactics as a village. IMO, we've been making things too easy for the spiked. Every time we cast a vote for someone we list all the reasons why we suspect them, and usually ask them to respond to our suspicions. If the accusation is against an innocent player, no big deal, they can respond to the suspicions truthfully. But if we happen to accuse a Spiked it's a different story. Listing all your suspicions tells the Spiked exactly which lies they need to tell to cover themselves and allay suspicions. It's like charging into battle, then shouting at your opponent "I'm going to stab you in the thigh now!" They know exactly where they need to defend themselves. So I intentionally cast my votes, both during this cycle and the previous one, for Ostrich without any explanations. I was curious to see how Ostrich would respond (with a counter-vote, very little reasoning behind it, and no self-defense, as it turns out), as well as to see how others would react to this tactic. Who would leap to Ostrich's defense? Who wouldn't? Who would join me in my vote (several people. Namely: Claincy, Wilson, Sarcomere, and Wintercloud, although I suspect that has more to do with Wilson's mega-post than anything I did). And so on. And now with just a few minutes left in the day, it looks like Ostrich will by lynched, for better or for worse. Whether or not he's innocent though, info has already been gained. (Also, sorry for not posting this sooner. I meant to. I've been working at the local Home Show the past two days and have had 12-hour stretches where I couldn't even check my phone, let alone post anything) EDIT: typos
  24. also, I'm voting for Ostrich for the same undisclosed reasons as before.
  25. I agree, a spiked Mistborn makes the most sense, especially with the extra Tineye message from the first night. I always thought that extra message had a bit of a menacing, spiked feel to it. I doubt that they knew who both of their targets were though, and probably just got really lucky with one or both of them. I can think of one scenario- and its the one that I think happened. It could be true irregardless of whether or not Eol and/or Wyrm are spiked. Wilson's plea on Eol's was very persuasive. There were only a handful of people voting for Eol, and the rest of us couldn't do anything to change the vote. Unless we were a rioter or soother. I think that Wilson persuaded a soother to try to save Eol, and that's why Aralis's vote was soothed. It's possible that one of the people who voted for Wyrm was the soother, but not necessarily. EDIT: Go away dead people, leave us alone. We have new Brandon novels to read!
