What are you playing right now?

Boo, I enjoy Nintendo Directs. They do a handful of these throughout the year and no longer do the traditional live presentation. Also as a long time Smash fan, the Smash Bros news was a big deal. And Ridley has long been the #1 most requested and denied character so that was a nice surprise. As E3 presentations go there have been FAR worse. Nintendo 2008 and Sony 2006 immediately come to mind. -
I still go back and play Mega Man 2-6 (and now 9 and 10) every couple of years. They hold up really well. I'm even going to buy the new Mega Man collection on the Switch even though I've already bought these games several times.

I started City of Blades, book 2 of Robert Jackson Bennett's Divine Cities trilogy. I don't think I've seen this comparison but these are like Sanderson books but with F bombs. They're the closest thing I've seen to Sanderson in terms of plotting and functional world building.

I'm currently reading the Mad Lancers novella and have yet to read the latest, Wrath of Empire. As much as I like Tamas, I think Ben Styke is now McClellan's best POV character.
-
Yeah, I can forgive Erikson this wankery as long as he contains it to the Kharkanas Trilogy. I don't want this in the Witness Trilogy.
-
Kallor Icarium Rake Raest Hood Quick Ben Karsa Draconus Shadowthrone Tool These were really just the first 10 characters I love that popped into my head. I could easily do another 10.

I'm pretty sure the term Azathanai was never mentioned until Forge of Darkness. But since then ICE has used the term in his books. I don't know what the relationship is between Azathanai or Azath though, if that's even been revealed.

I'm in the middle of Deadhouse Landing and it's awesome. I thought Dancer's Lament was alright but I didn't really get into it as much as most people did. But the sequel...I wish I didn't have to work so much so I can go home and read it. I love seeing familiar faces pop up.

Loved Skulldeath. I was also a big fan of Corabb but I think he's a little more well known.
-
Lol, that sounds like some misplaced priorities.

If Brandon published these as a traditional novel, we'd just have to wait longer for the next Stormlight/Mistborn/etc. book.

It was good. It seems like with every new MCU movie, everyone says it's one of the best ones yet. Is it recency bias, or do these movies keep getting better? I'd say the former. I bet if I tried to rank the MCU movies, this would fall in the middle, which is by no means a bad thing. It least the villains are getting better. Michael Jordan stole the show, and made the lead look unimpressive by comparison.

Yeah I'd like to see the source for this 2020 Walk in Shadow date. If it didn't come from Erikson himself, it's probably just a placeholder. And even if it did come from Erikson, I wouldn't hold him to that date.

Ready Player One is awesome. With Night Angel, give it a couple hundred pages to grab you. I wasn't really into it until the intro phase was over, then I couldn't put it down.

Huh, was this updated recently? I could have sworn when I saw this a couple of weeks ago, Tattersail was skinnier. ETA: Yep, here's the one I saw:

Fall of Light is amazing but you should be scared. It's definitely a book you want to take your time with and not rush. And BK I don't think having 8 as a least favorite is a minority opinion. 8 is the most divisive where people either rank it at the top or bottom. I know when it came out it had the most negative reactions, and people on the Malazan forum saw 9 as a return to form. Now people on reddit have turned on 9 for some reason. 8 is my least favorite too. Haven't gotten there on my reread yet.

I was always amazed that the secret of Shadowthrone and Cotillion was practically spelled out in GotM, but I didn't catch it until the reveal in DG.

Keep trying with the First Law. I was mostly bored by the first book as well, but with the second book it became way more entertaining. I can't think of anyone who writes more entertaining group banter than Abercrombie does.
-
I still recommend reading them all in publication order, especially for first timers. RotCG has a big event that is spoiled in Toll the Hounds. I also think as a series, ICE's series is more disjointed than Erikson's.

I'm about 1/3 of the way through. It's different. Since there are 4 POVs with equal screen time, the plot naturally moves more slowly than the original trilogy. It's very good but I definitely feel like I'm still in the set up phase. In fact I've seen reviews say that the whole book is like set up for book 2. But there is a lot of potential here.

I haven't read Deadhouse Landing yet, but that's a pretty good ranking of his books. OST is my favorite so far, and Assail is my least favorite. IMO there are 2 things Esselmont writes exceptionally well: 1. Naval battles 2. Horror scenes

Unfortunately no. The Switch isn't backwards compatible since it can't take discs, and they haven't yet added old games for download. Hopefully they add Virtual Console this year. -

Being devoured by Xenoblade 2. Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii is my favorite game of all time. Unfortunately these games always put me into a huge reading slump. -
I recently finished Deadhouse Gates on my reread. For some reason even though Memories of Ice is my favorite, I've been most excited for House of Chains. Also Reaper's Gale for some weird reason.
