  1. So Investiture is more like willpower, then? It's not quite Identity, but it's a major driver of it?
  2. I really, really like this theory. But there's just one unfortunate flaw: if Investiture and Identity are the same thing, why is one stored by Nicrosil and the other by Aluminum?
  3. It really depends on the Surgebinder. Someone cautious like me will stay slow with wind-based flying, while someone more daredevil-ish will be flying circles around his fellow surgebinders at supersonic speeds. The key is the choice: Skybreakers, while they can go nearly as fast, have nothing to break their fall, and Order 10 are slowpokes, with "just" car level speeds.Oh, and back to the OP. I'm really looking forward to seeing the Lightweaver's hybrid capabilities. Just imagine: you Soulcast a pit of acid, then make it look like it's just another section of ground. The possibilities are endless. Also, what could you do with the combination of friction and division? I'm really drawing a blank here. It's already hard to enough to find the hybrid abilities of Edgedancers, but Dustbringers are even harder. Derp. Maybe I should actually read the thread first before asking questions.
  4. But Windrunners could do the same with atmospheric pressure, creating a vacuum. Also, they could increase the atmospheric pressure behind them, further accelerating them. So in terms of pure speed, the Windrunners should be a little ahead. The big difference will be in precision and maneuverability. Szeth notes that Lashing yourself to the sky is very imprecise. But the Windrunners can fine-tune their course with atmospheric pressure, while Skybreakers can't. And they can stop easier, using a cushion of air, while Skybreakers would have to simply reverse their Lashing.
  5. I do like the Kingkiller Chronicles a lot, even though I dislike Kvothe (not Kote, however).Waitaminute. The Broken Eye is out?! How have I missed this?
  6. What else was he supposed to say? "Hey guys, I'm the Coinshot. By the way, Inquisitor, how does this bright red target on my back look?"
  7. He's talking about holding large amounts of Investiture. Neither Forgers, nor ChayShan users are holding any significant amount of Investiture most of the time. And when they do use their magic, ChayShan users are glowing, if only dimly. As for how much resistance you get from having Investiture, I'd say both Surgebinders and fabrials hold too little Investiture to make a difference. While they certainly are very Investiture heavy compared to say, Scadrial, I think the amounts you need to passively resist Shardblades would be astronomically high.
  8. I'm voting for Wes. I'm pretty sure he's innocent, but if Shimble gets killed and is innocent, which seems quite likely, then we're quite possibly screwed.
  9. I also hope that the two become close friends. However, Adolin better not be on the path to Radianthood. With Jasnah, Dalinar, Renarin, and Elkohar all possible Surgebinders, the Kholins are way too packed as it is. Besides, I really don't want a story where every major character has to have magical abilities, and I doubt Brandon would do that to us.
  10. I know you've done a ton of work on this stuff already, and they all look awesome (pun not intended), but is it at all possible to make the Radiant Order glyphs look like they're engraved onto their order's respective gems, or even better glowing from inside? I'm not sure how you could do it, but it looks great in my head.
  11. I know this had been said already, but the Gentleman Bastards series is incredible. It's my favorite series after Sanderson's Cosmere, and very, very close to it. There's currently three books in the series; The Lies of Locke Lamora, Red Seas Under Red Skies, and the Republic of Thieves. If you haven't read it, read it now.
  12. Until Peng has been given everyone's roles, he's really hardly better informed than the rest of us. Why should we follow his votes so blindly? There's only one Inquisitor right now and 25 of us, so it's not like he's able to manipulate the vote much. Unless he's got strong reason to believe Wes is the Inquisitor, which he said he doesn't, we should just go with our guts. If your target for lynching is a person we really need and he/she's near to getting lynched, Peng can just PM you and say you need to change it. @Wilson I do understand why you feel reluctant to give your role to Peng. But he's still our best chance. Sure, it is rather cold-blooded to go with just the roleless if that is what he's doing, but it makes sense. Most of the allomancers can be verified quickly and easily without having to spare the Seeker(s), but Villagers have to be actually Seeked. And if we lynch someone with a role, we're screwed. So you really should give your role to him. When he finally has everyone's roles, we'll actually have a very good base of information to build on, so we won't just have to go with "this guy seems randomly suspicious to me" or "this guy's a Villager, he's expendable". If we have all the roles, we can ferret out the liars, we can organize everyone so that everyone's working together, we can minimize friendly fire. Please, everyone, just tell him your role. It doesn't matter if your role is just a Villager, just tell him so we know. This is our best chance. Let's not waste it.
  13. This is so true. Atmospheric pressure should be an incredibly useful and versatile surge, so for it's only use to be creating vacuums between two objects would be an incredible waste, especially since Gravity can also bind objects together anyway, if less effectively. With atmospheric pressure you could fly with incredible speed and control, stick objects together, implode with powerful compression or make explosions with decompression, and suffocate by giving someone too little atmospheric pressure or burst their lungs with too much. With enough compression, you could even make shields or deadly cutting edges of air. And imagine the projectile capabilities. Coat an arrow or a bullet with the Full Lashing on all surfaces except the back, and then launch it at a target with several Gs of Gravity. Since it's surrounded by a vacuum, the only atmospheric pressure should come from the back, pushing it forward and further accelerating it.Hmm... This gives me another idea. With the ability to both fly and deploy such powerful projectiles, the optimal place on the battlefield would be high in the sky where only other Windrunners could reach, sending a hail of death down onto the enemy ranks. Without any other surgebinders to defend against them, a lone Windrunner could slaughter armies with no risk. Windrunners are really scary.
  14. I was looking at the wiki link you provided and found a few interesting roles in the list that I think could be adapted. The first was Gladiator, where you can "challenge" anybody during the day and limit all voting to either for you or the opponent. It's perfect for a Shardbearer on Roshar, what with all the duels. The second was Inventor. The Inventor can give anyone except for himself a one use invention that grants them an ability for one night. Now, I'm not sure if we're doing any non-Cosmere settings, but doesn't that sound exactly like a Gifter from Steelheart?
  15. I just looked through the thread quickly. I only saw one possible clue, and that one is pretty weak. Still, just in case I'm being dense and it really is there, you shouldn't divulge your suspicions, since then they really would become targets.
  16. Wait, four people have revealed their allomancy? I've only seen the one Mistborn, and he's surely going to be Lurched tonight.
  17. Also, Soothers, watch this thread like a hawk. If it's near the end of the day cycle and someone has voted to kill someone without changing it, please Soothe them to avoid Inquisitor attacks.
  18. Aren't the Tineye messages more interesting or amusing though if you don't know they're coming? Otherwise, what's the point?
  19. If they Snap, they should just announce it to Peng. If they don't, then yes they'll get killed. As I see it, here are the the main flaws of my/peng's plan (As for Kukri's, it sounds good, but I haven't thought about it very in-depth yet.) 1) If one of the Inquisitor's abilities is to fool Seeking, we're dead. I see this as unlikely, however, and if jt is true, then we're pretty much dead regardless of whether we follow the plan or not. Moving on. 2) If the Seeker gets killed randomly tonight, we're now unsure of Peng. This is still unlikely, and we can most likely trust Peng anyway if this happens, because there is almost no way he could bank on that happening with any degree of certainty. 3)If Peng gets Copperclouded, what happens? I really have no idea on this one. Suggestions?
