  1. Mistborn Kelsier vs Lord Ruler- Re-Education by Rise Against Mistborn- Satellite by Rise Against The Way of Kings Kaladin's theme- Help Is On The Way by Rise Against Kaladin in Words of Radiance helping Elhokar before the books climax (when he gets a visit from Syl again)- Alive and Well by Rise Against. I listen to them a lot but those songs really fit these books well for some funny reason.

  3. Read first book, good but I'm not too interested in books 2-3 unless someone can promise it gets much better. I'm in the minority when I say I disliked the movie for bad plot holes and deviations as well as not being too entertaining.
  4. Does that not seem random? Brandon could have literally made him do anything to demonstrate his power and he just landed on turning things to steel? I feel that there was some deeper purpose to it. It just seems very odd that Brandon while imagining this just thinks "okay so I'll give him super strength, speed and make him fly, oh yeah I'll also give him an ability to turn things to steel!" For something described so often it would seem odd for this detail to merely just be a detail.
  5. Now I have not read Steelheart since November but since I recruited a friend into Brandon's works (he started with Steelheart) I have been thinking a lot about the story and I was wondering about this power of Steelheart's. He can turn objects to steel and he turned the whole city to steel. What is the point of this power? Steelheart is super strong, fast, durable, OP, basically he is an evil version of Clark Kent aka Superman. He can do all of those things and look, he can also turn things to steel. Is it just me or does that power seem really random and pointless? Does it seem to really not fit in with Steelheart's other powers? Does it seem pointless to the story? Why would Brandon just put this detail into the story? This whole concept seems meaningless but this leads to my theory. I believe that Steelheart's ability to change things to steel will serve a great purpose in the two sequels, specifically Calamity the final book. I believe this detail actually will be very significant to the storyline because why else would Brandon just come up with the idea of this antagonist turning everything into steel? I don't know why he would do this although my guess is that perhaps he wasn't yet 100% evil when he did this (and similar to Lord Ruler from Mistborn, he knew something other people didn't). I think in his last moment of decency he turned the city to steel knowing it somehow would do something good or help protect something. Overall I do think Newcago being steel will have significance because it seems so random if it was just turned to steel for no reason. If I am correct, as I said my guess as to why Steelheart did this was some secret final good intention before he succumbed to corruption. Since I have not read Steelheart in a bit, please let me know if there are things I missed and it is explained why Steelheart made Newcago into steel.
  6. Chances are you have already read WOR but if not stop reading for there are 1-2 references to the book that contain spoilers. Nice little observation there. I think that you may be correct in that it is a reference but more of an easter egg type reference. I do not think there will be a backstory of Awakening existing on Roshar for that amount of time, as it is not native to Roshar it doesn't seem to fit into the histories of the world as well plus Endowment is on Nalthis not Roshar. We are definitely seeing more connections with Nalthis as Vasher and Nightblood have arrived and possibly other Nalthian characters. I think Awakening being used in Stormlight is a fairly good possibility but like I stated, I think this quote is more of an easter egg and likely to hint at the introduction of Warbreaker characters into the Stormlight Archive. From this quote it doesn't necessarily mean he awakened the piece of wood, it says he sent it floating so that doesn't exactly say he commanded it which is what you do with awakened objects. Overall I don't think Awakening has a deep history on Roshar and I think this quote is more of a subtle easter egg Brandon planted for book 2 (also you may have heard of his original way of kings version that he wasn't releasing to the public and it was because he had Vasher in book 1 originally so that potential easter egg could reference that as well). Good eye in spotting that and last but not least I think Shadows Remembered would make a great title for possibly book 4 or book 6 of Stormlight (After book 3 it will likely be a full scale war and book 6 is Stormlight's return from that break it will go on after part 1 concludes so I think those would be fitting areas to use that title which I really like the sound of).
  7. Had that problem with Divergent after WOR, really don't know what is so special about that series. Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 387973120 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 493209904 bytes) in Unknown on line 0Had
  8. Fair enough, there may be time for a greater population to arise over the century. However I do think it would make sense for at least some sort of war or conflict that would involve that modern technology.
  9. That is a good theory, maybe Scadrial doesn't encounter Sel or somehow maybe Sel is kept back like Scadrial was.
  10. Think of it this way, Scadrial has space technology along with investiture, think of it as the Galactic Empire invading and oppressing weaker planets not as technologically advanced (without the stormtrooper effect and Empire incompetency). Could Roshar truly stop them if it was shardbearers and surgebinders against allomancers who had spaceships and destroyers. Also if at this point they were more advanced than 21st century earth, well we can assume that they have nuclear weapons and far deadlier than that.
  11. I also before this wondered if maybe the final trilogy will involve Scadrial's corruption and oppressiveness. Maybe now that they are able to travel in space, maybe they will invade other worlds and become oppressive so the final trilogy is based on corruption. I feel that Harmony won't be around forever and will eventually fall and it will be fairly depressing.
  12. So I was quite curious about our forthcoming second Mistborn trilogy (I mean the trilogy that follows the current Wax and Wayne trilogy). I was thinking about how Mistborn trilogy one was now legend and mythology due to the world changing significance of the first Mistborn trilogy. This then made me look ahead to trilogy 2 in which I wondered shouldn't there be something really significant in this one to impact Scadrial's history in a dramatic way? Now this is estimated to be at around 75 years after the Wax and Wayne trilogy in the 20th century and I believe it was said to be the early 20th century. For a while I wondered why Brandon wasn't just setting the trilogy in a 21st century equivalent time period instead, after all it isn't that much longer (compared to other time gaps) after wax and wayne. Then I was thinking about the historical impact that I expect each trilogy to carry and I started thinking about the small pieces of the plotline for trilogy 2 found in the Coppermind. All that was revealed was a Mistborn serial killer and the southern people of Scadrial making an appearance in the storyline. I was meanwhille trying to think about how a serial killer could have that kind of an impact but then I started thinking about the southern people. There are theories that the people Miles Dagouter referred to in his final words are the people of the south. Now if that is true that could potentially be quite ominous and even if it isn't true I somehow doubt this would turn out well. Back to the historical significance that I believe each Mistborn trilogy will carry. Tell me what happened on Earth during the early 20th century? We had a World War. I am wondering if Brandon intends to have a worldwide war between the northern people of Scadrial and the Southern people of Scadrial as the main storyline of trilogy 2. We could be at trilogy 2 during the timeline where all of the technology during that period of time would have existed. My theory is what if the main plot of trilogy 2 is a major war between the north and south through modern technology and the investure of Scadrial? The reasons I suggest this is because of the time period and my belief that each trilogy of Mistborn will be world changing and hold major historical importance. I will add on to this by stating that I also wonder about trilogy three and the high powered space technology. For Trilogy one Scadrial had destruction, Trilogy two if I were to be correct it would essentially be war. What if in this case if there is a trend to follow, Trilogy three will be Scadrial facing corruption. This was something I wondered about for a while and remembered recently. With the insane technology that allows space travel, could it not be possible that Scadrial began invading and oppressing less advanced shardworlds? Maybe there is eventually a power struggle between the corrupted, greedy Scadrial leaders and the rebels who fight this oppression (I mean Scadrian's who realize it is wrong)? I think it would be neat if generally there was one main enemy of each trilogy 1. Destruction, 2. War, 3. Corruption. This one is even more crackpot because I have nothing to really base it off of because we know little of Trilogy 3 but oddly enough I find something about Scadrial becoming oppressive off of their strength more likely than my crackpot for Trilogy 2. These are all insane crackpot theories or more like hypothesis's to be honest but I am pretty interested in trilogy 2 because that is what we will be reading when Stormlight goes on its hiatus after part 1. I thought it would be cool to come up with some sort of guess on something that could happen in trilogy 2 even though it is a crackpot theory. Trilogy Three as I said is less likely due to even less information to base it off of but I could see something like this happening and Trilogy Three will likely be the most fun to read about because by then we may see Scadrial Investiture meeting other types of Investiture and we will likely discover the final secrets of the Scadrial Investiture as well as being able to combine all of that with futuristic technology. What do you guys think? I know that some people on here are very up to date and know quite a bit about the cosmere so I am expecting that you will find some mistakes in this. Either way it was fun theorizing even if I do not expect it to be true. Hope you all enjoyed these theories/hypothesis's.
  13. I was just thinking about this theory and how Kaladin in one of the Words of Radiance chapters mentioned how Skar and Moash were like him trained killers, mayhaps a hint at Skar? Oh and why wouldn't there be something mentioned about Gaz by his superiors?
  14. I didn't kill that Storming fellow Gaz, why is it so hard to believe that!
  15. Yeah I changed that up and space stuff now.
  16. I really hope he doesn't do it that way, for a character to die and then have their flashback in a later book just feels less important when you would want that sequence when you get to know the character from the inside out.
  17. Yeah I read that set of chapters again and the crab caught my eye, nice observation.
  18. Well for me I can see Dalinar dying or surviving either way, seems more obvious that he will survive even though I think that he won't survive. Szeth dying would be pretty surprising for me but would annoy me because he hasn't even had much time yet and he is a big character. I am just not sure how this would play out because Szeth wouldn't just run away from Kaladin because of his orders so four possibilities of Dalinar's survival that I see are: 1. Kaladin defeats Szeth and they carefully imprison him making sure he can't get stormlight and they interrogate him about why he is killing people and who his master is (although Mr T probably gave him hundreds of different orders not to reveal anything). I feel that this is the most likely out of what I could come up with. 2. Mr T realizes that there are more pressing matters elsewhere and somehow contacts Szeth telling him to retreat and leave Dalinar alone, this seems highly unlikely. 3. Kaladin kills Szeth to save Dalinar This one seems almost at a 0% chance for me. 4. Brandon surprises us utterly, none of the above. So I think for Dalinar surviving they will capture Szeth and maybe as he is in prison at the Shattered Plains this is where he relives his life and does his flashbacks (seems like its often where someone remembers flashbacks when they are imprisoned or alone or something like that). I also think that as a fourth option Brandon shocking us with some unexpected plot twist of Dalinar's survival is very likely to but out of the ones that I thought of I think that option 1 is the most likely.
  19. That recent set of chapters was very good. I think that the Shallan chapter was the highlight for this set whereas Kaladin was definitely the highlight of last weeks set. I am really interested to learn more about pattern and Lightweaving as well as see Kaladin begin working out with that surgebinding because he needs to get good soon because Mr T is sending his pal Szeth at some point. I was wondering about that, did Szeth make the 62 days glyph on the wall? Seems obvious to me in the sense that only someone with some ability could have just gotten there but then again its almost too obvious so it could be someone else, maybe Hoid as a warning to Dalinar. The thing that is confusing me with Szeth is well, you would think he would just reach the Shattered Plains pretty quickly instead of taking most of the book to do it. I would assume that Taravangian gave him other orders first such as killing those emperors which was mentioned in Lift's interlude. We are now roughly 6 weeks from WoR so soon we will find out and I am wondering about Szeth's chapters because none have been released and Brandon is generally giving him a low profile in this book. Do you guys think he will even have chapters? He must surely, he is too important and I am wondering if maybe he is a main POV character in a certain part in the book that Brandon didn't release chapters for like say part 3 he gets chapters while Dalinar or someone sits out like how in one part in TWOK Dalinar wasn't in the part but Shallan was and then vice-versa. I feel that chances are he will just get interludes again but he really needs to start getting more chapters if he is going to be the focal character of book 3. Just get rid of some Adolin chapters and maybe Dalinar (although his chapters now are better I find because he is more linked to the other characters and is doing something in every one whereas some of his felt like filler in book 1, the same goes for Adolin who I am assuming will also have better chapters because now he will have a more active role). I think that with all the plotlines and tensions of book 2 that it will be really climactic and then after things will cool down a lot for book 3 and build up a lot in book four and then explode in book 5 which is roughly like a midseason finale as the end book of the first set of Stormlight.
  20. Sorry about that, it was one of my first posts on a forum.
  21. Is that cover of WOR a new version or is it the previous art? Kaladin looks younger in this one and better whereas he looked old in the other one. It seems a little more cartoonish but I would prefer a better looking Kaladin on the cover. Does anyone know if Whelan updated the cover or if this new one I am seeing was his rough draft?
  22. I feel like Shallan and Dalinar have the greatest chances of being one of the two (Redeemer or Destroyer). Kaladin being the destroyer could be one final failure for him which would be awful, something GRRM would do maybe. He could redeem but that seems a little cliche I guess because right now he seems like a real good guy so that's why it would be cliche. Szeth, for him to destroy Roshar would be cliche because he has been destroying lots lately and is on his way to becoming a villain (although I expect later redemption from him). For him to just do that destruction as well would be too obvious I think. Brandon wouldn't do cliche or obvious things so unless kaladin destroys or szeth redeems, I think it has to be Shallan or Dalinar (I like the theory of Dalinar being misled leading to unintended destruction). I think that Dalinars death chances in book two are 55% with a 45% survival chance with his death slightly more likely but still easily able to be the other way around. He would die because it would make his goals of uniting the Alethi much more difficult, cause Adolin to step up and become a larger character and it would be a real game changer. Highprince of War book 5 Dalinars book, Brandon did say that just because a character had a pov book later on that would not mean that they would live until that book. He could be proving that with Dalinar Kholin in book 2. I do believe that Dalinar will die in this series at some point and book 2 could be that book where he goes out. While I feel that his chances of dying are a bit higher than his survival chances I do think he will live for having more storyline. Sanderson could just cut his storyline abruptly like Martin did to Ned Stark. Like I said this would also make Adolin have a bigger role because he feels like filler right now and is boring, undeveloped and maybe a slight bit arrogant. So I do think Dalinar will live but his death could come just as easily and I don't believe he will go to the end d the series, 9 books is a long ways to go and Roshar will likely get more dangerous with each book. Of course anyone could die before the end because I'm not just singling out Dalinar here.
  23. I am very curious about Taravangian and I am about to read his Interlude. I really am excited for Words of Radiance and am about to read the other chapters that I haven't read yet. I also have a theory sort of. I read the Lift Interlude a few days back and I noticed the part where it mentioned Szeth killing emperors of that nation frequently. However, it was also mentioned that he had been slaughtering Highprinces of Alethkar. All of the Highprinces are on the Shattered Plains in the War of Reckoning so that Interlude could possibly have taken place after Part 4. As I noticed in The Way of Kings there were no Part 5 Interludes, only a final set of Interludes after Part Four. In Part Four of the first book, that is where everything reached a climactic point. Part 5 meanwhile was the aftermath or epilogue to Part Four while also establishing plot-lines for Words of Radiance. The Lift Interlude does not state which set of Interludes it is in as a few of the others said at the top which part they were in. That leaves a possibility of Lift's Interlude taking place after Part 4 of Words of Radiance, remember Part 4 is the climax of the book and I strongly believe that Szeth vs Kaladin will happen then with aftermath in the final part as they did in book 1. So if Lift's Interlude is in the final set of Interludes then this could be taking place right after Szeth arrived at the plains, this would make sense as to why it was mentioned that The Assassin in White was slaughtering Highprinces of Alethkar. The Interlude says nothing about Dalinar Kholin as it says nothing about names of the dead Highprinces. Could this possibly be a hint of what happened in Szeth's attack on the Shattered Plains? Szeth could have massacred many Highprinces while that is probably part of his set of orders. That very Interlude could have possibly spoken of Dalinar's death to Szeth in the Shattered Plains. I am really unsure of how it will play out, I feel that Dalinar could die for sure, I am putting his chances of survival at 40% to a 60% death chance but his storyline has many more things to happen yet. Dalinar makes me think a bit of Ned Stark from A Song Of Ice and Fire, he is really honourable and a really good guy but that may make him a sitting duck for his enemies. Plus Ned seemed like he wasn't going to die and had so much more story then he was killed and his story ended far before it should have, the same could definitely happen to Kholin. Brandon I believe said that main characters would die in this series so just because a character was supposed to have a point of view novel didn't mean they would live that long. He could be referring to Dalinar who is supposed to be the focal character of book 5 and saying that he may not live that long. Of course this is all pure speculation on my part and Lift's Interlude mentioning murdered Highprinces is far from proof of Dalinar's death but it could possibly be a small hint that could be part of the aftermath as it would politically be felt worldwide. Does anyone know more about this or have anything to go with or against my theory here? I do believe that Lift's Interlude is part of the final set due to the mentioning of slaughtered Highprinces, but why would Brandon release it? He may have chosen that one to be released as a small hint, or he could have just wanted to give a good preview. Either way I am very hyped for book 2 which already to me feels like a bit of an endgame with all of the ominous things happening at the moment. One last thing, does anyone wonder if Sadeas is affiliated with Taravangian and if that is how the king of Kharbranth knew immediately about Dalinar becoming the Highprince of War? Maybe Sadeas tried to eliminate him for that reason and by Taravangian saying he hoped he wouldn't have to have Dalinar killed, maybe he meant he hoped he wouldn't have to have Szeth massacre many innocents for his own sake because he feels deep regret at his actions and I doubt he wants to use Szeth and torture the man more unless he thinks he needs to. Please let me know what you think of those two theories I have, March 4, 2014 can't come soon enough.
